SNSUN Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Hope no injury to Rickie and Morgan. Have to say that both the lineup and the subs have a very Championship look about them. It does a bit, but probably only 5 of those will start vs Man City.
sfc4prem Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Hope no injury to Rickie and Morgan. Have to say that both the lineup and the subs have a very Championship look about them. What a weird statement. What do you expect, us to go and sign tonnes of Premier League players and replace our whole team with them? Of course it's going to look 'Championship', considering most of them have just finished playing a season in the Championship.
itchen_dan Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 From the OS Nigel Adkins names another forward thinking side, with Guly, Jason Puncheon and Billy Sharp starting in attack. There are nine substitutions to call on for the hosts as Rickie Lambert, Morgan Schneiderlin and Luke Shaw not risked due to slight knocks.

Saint Charlie Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Wolves have pretty much got their defence from last season playing so interesting to see how we do.
sfc4prem Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Let's just say our line up is certainly no better than Wolves. I'd say we should be beating that sort of line-up from Wolves.
Bearsy Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Let's just say our line up is certainly no better than Wolves. Probably only 4 of our First Team innit!
Saint Charlie Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Probably only 4 of our First Team innit! And the bench has probably two/three Prem class players. Still need additions to compete!
FreemantleSaint Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Our printed team sheets look pretty good!
itchen_dan Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 officialsaints: Big chance for Wolves as Ward's pass puts Ebanks-Blake one-on-one with Gazzaniga, but the Argentinian saves well to keep it 0-0. #saintsfc
itchen_dan Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 officialsaints: Clyne almost gets his first #SaintsFC goal as his cross-shot catches out Ikeme, but the Wolves 'keeper manages to tip the ball over.
itchen_dan Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 officialsaints: GOAL! SAINTS 1-0 WOLVES (SHARP 22) #saintsfc
itchen_dan Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 officialsaints: #SaintsFC lead – Lallana's low ball from the left of the area eludes Puncheon but Sharp is on hand to score his fourth goal of pre-season.
Lighthouse Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Are they Skates playing 5-a-side or something? The mathematics of that team sheet doesn't look right to me.
itchen_dan Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 officialsaints: Chance for Sharp to add another as he connects with Chaplow's cross, but his header loops just over Ikeme's crossbar. #saintsfc
sambosa75 Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 I used to play for AFC Hiltingbury with a keeper called Dan Butler... Wonder if its the same one turning out for the skates today...

Shroppie Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Sharp is looking like first choice striker. Could SRL have to fight for his place?
Saint Charlie Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Hopefully Davis will get some game time in the second half!
itchen_dan Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 officialsaints: Both sides unchanged at the break. #saintsfc
itchen_dan Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 officialsaints: Good #SaintsFC move down the left involving Sharp and Lallana sees the ball chipped into the box, but Chaplow puts his header over.
miserableoldgit Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 officialsaints: Good #SaintsFC move down the left involving Sharp and Lallana sees the ball chipped into the box, but Chaplow puts his header over. I expect his hair got in his eyes.

trousers Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 @officialsaints: Another double substitution by #SaintsFC as Steven Davis and James Ward-Prowse replace Chaplow and Lallana for the final 20 minutes.
itchen_dan Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 officialsaints: #SaintsFC snatch the ball in midfield and run clear with Sharp. He gets into a good position and squares to De Ridder, but he shoots wide.
itchen_dan Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 officialsaints: Two more #SaintsFC changes as Dan Seaborne and Calum Chambers replace Jos Hooiveld and Dean Hammond for the final 10 minutes.
itchen_dan Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 officialsaints: FULL TIME: SAINTS 2-0 WOLVES #saintsfc
Saint Charlie Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Decent score line, interesting to hear reports from those there and maybe a post match transfer update from NA...
itchen_dan Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 officialsaints: #SaintsFC good value for the win here. Good strikes by Sharp & Puncheon plus several encouraging performances against a decent Wolves side.
Dig Dig Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Decent score line, interesting to hear reports from those there and maybe a post match transfer update from NA... Guly was awesome.

Saint J 77 Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Sharp is looking like first choice striker. Could SRL have to fight for his place? Lambert much like Le Tissier doesn't seem to do pre-season well. I'm pretty sure he will be fine come the start of the season. Obviously didn't play today due to a knock. I think he'll do well this season and surprise a few. Good to see Sharp is having a decent pre-season so far. I think he is going to have a good season too.
Golden Balls Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Just back from the game. We did okay. First 15 minutes we let Wolves have a lot of possession up until the final 3rd. We then picked it up a bit. Lallana seemed to be playing either central or in a free role but was nowhere near as effective. Puncheon had a great game. If he can be consistent he will be a real asset. Jack Stephens played centre back and didn't have the greatest game. We did give Wolves 3 very good chances which will be punished in the prem. We do seem to lack ideas without Lambert still. Gazza made one good save and seems confidant with the ball at his feet. De Ridder was shocking when he came on.
del boy Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Also back from the game. Plus points were Clyne, who played really well, Puncheon, Sharp and Fox. Stephens didn't look at all confident and made a few silly mistakes. Gazza looked good but didn't really have that much to do. It looked like we were working on the 5 in midfield stifling the opposition when we lost possession but supporting Sharp quickly on the forward breaks. We kept possession of the ball well for long periods. Steven Davis looked good for the short time he was on. Wolves were either poor or made to look poor. Not bad without SRL, Morgan and Corky.
