Daily Star: ... Chaplow to snub Crystal Palace move

Does BH still exist or is it all done in the west country somewhere now?

Yes it does and you can get tours around the site (Bletchley Park btw). Strange you should mention BP as my old man worked there after the war.

This is Saints related as RC may have seen the signs for BP from the team coach on the way to play MK Dons.

Chaplow clearly wants to stay but he knows he will soon be surplus to requirements hence his public reaction to daily star story.

What a load of crap. You know for sure he will be surplus do you ?

He can play central midfield and right midfield, he adds pace to the middle and is the only midfielder we had last season who regularly made runs into the penalty box.

To say his reaction to a story that is obviously made up is because he knows he will be surplus is incredible.

He wasn't disciplined enough to play central midfield at championship level let alone this level. He is already well down the pecking order and we are still in market for another attacking midfielder.

Bit of an over the top reaction there. Anyone with a little bit of sense will see that despite what Chaplow is saying, he likely to be very close to surplus to requirements. Our CM positions are strong and we're actively looking to strengthen in the wide positions. Once we do sign players in these positions, don't be surprised to see Chaplow moved on or left out of the 25.

Certainly an element of truth to this. The fact Chaplow is a bit of a jack of all trades in the midfield might see him stay initially, but IMO to get in the starting lineup there would need to be two injuries in a position.

Not really over the top no. Someone saying his public reaction to the story shows he knows he will be surplus is over the top. Or you can say the same for NA's statement about the story on Saints Player.

We may well be actively looking to stengthen wide positions, but until we do Chaplow will still be seen as able to do a job on the right of midfield. I refer, as someone else already has, to the Palace away game last season where he was outstanding.

I still think that with seven subs NA will have Chaplow on the bench more often than not.

Yea, having a good game against Palace doesn't mean he can cut it in the prem. I could refer to plenty of games where he was very very poor. He's a good runner but ultimately his touch and passing ability are relatively poor and he is generally very erratic.

I expect he is very much on the fringe of the final 25 and a couple of quality signings will deal his fate at Saints.

Possibly but he is one of the few players who does have Premiership experience in our squad and some people seem to hold great stock by that.

Unfortunately his Prem experience was about 7 years ago and he's probably forgotten everything he knew - if he's even able to reach his previous levels of Prem performance with West Brom since his various accumulated injuries.

Here we go again, hasn't the Guly argument been put to bed yet? The only person whose opinion about Guly matters a fartful has just handed him a contract extension.

Or at least he's got a contract extension written into his contract as a promotion bonus, as seemed to happen last close season with a number of what proved to be not-exactly regular Championship starters. Dickson, Barnard and Butterfield spring to mind.
