Weston Saint Posted 1 August, 2012 Posted 1 August, 2012 This last week I have been close to telling a few posters exactly what I thought of them (swear filter might have been a problem though) so today I put all 5 on ignore. Tonight on one thread containing 21 posts at the time I key this 10 were from those on my ignore list. Bless Ignore
hypochondriac Posted 1 August, 2012 Posted 1 August, 2012 Turkish, Appy, me, Kraken, dune, CB Fry. Can't think of many more.
CB Saint Posted 1 August, 2012 Posted 1 August, 2012 I am not sure I can get that worked up on here. I tend to get bored before I lose it, and stop replying to the thread.
St Chalet Posted 1 August, 2012 Posted 1 August, 2012 To those deliberately quoting to try and get around the OP's intended outcome, I'd consider it pointless and sarcastic.
Spudders Posted 1 August, 2012 Posted 1 August, 2012 Jesus the original post is equally as pointless as our humorous quoting, are you going to delete that as well?
Ohio Saint Posted 1 August, 2012 Posted 1 August, 2012 The whole point of "Ignore" is to ignore people. Posting that you are igoring people is advertising the fact that you are ignoring them. To post that you are ignoring anyone is completely asinine. It's just pathetic.
Turkish Posted 1 August, 2012 Posted 1 August, 2012 The ignore feature is the single greatest invention of all time on mongboards, It is one of my goals in life to be the most ignored poster in Internet mong board history. If anyone has me on ignore please constantly announce it like Sue Whistle and Les Bender do, itll make you feel important and brighten up my day as well.
hypochondriac Posted 1 August, 2012 Posted 1 August, 2012 To those deliberately quoting to try and get around the OP's intended outcome, I'd consider it pointless and sarcastic. Ha! I know people were moaning earlier that you needed to mod a bit more but seriously dont you think you are taking things a bit far? Posting a thread about putting someone on ignore is just as pointless.
dune Posted 1 August, 2012 Posted 1 August, 2012 Ha! I know people were moaning earlier that you needed to mod a bit more but seriously dont you think you are taking things a bit far? Posting a thread about putting someone on ignore is just as pointless. No, it was just you moaning that a thread wasn't high brow enough.
hypochondriac Posted 1 August, 2012 Posted 1 August, 2012 No, it was just you moaning that a thread wasn't high brow enough. Nope. Look in site suggestions.

Not yet, but you'll be the first one if my "Mass Ignore" plan comes to fruition.
Turkish Posted 1 August, 2012 Posted 1 August, 2012 Not yet, but you'll be the first one if my "Mass Ignore" plan comes to fruition. Can you let me know when you've got me on ignore please. I might ignore everyone except hypo, Dune, Delldays, Sour Mash, TCM, Kracken and CB Fry.
The9 Posted 1 August, 2012 Posted 1 August, 2012 Can you let me know when you've got me on ignore please. I might ignore everyone except hypo, Dune, Delldays, Sour Mash, TCM, Kracken and CB Fry. Who said that ?
dune Posted 1 August, 2012 Posted 1 August, 2012 Nope. Look in site suggestions. Are you refering to this? Ahhhhh, I get why the hypoid is posting loads of cr*p tonight: 2 posts off of 15,000 Congratulations. I'm sure I speak for everyone in saying here's to the next 15,000!
The Kraken Posted 1 August, 2012 Posted 1 August, 2012 Can you let me know when you've got me on ignore please. I might ignore everyone except hypo, Dune, Delldays, Sour Mash, TCM, Kracken and CB Fry. I may or may not have you on ignore.
Turkish Posted 1 August, 2012 Posted 1 August, 2012 I may or may not have you on ignore. I've got you on ignore but I've decided to view your posts tonight, because that is totally normal.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 1 August, 2012 Posted 1 August, 2012 I cant see my post from earlier, do i have myself on ignore?
Tokyo-Saint Posted 1 August, 2012 Posted 1 August, 2012 Can we guess what thread western was ignoring? He seems like a fun guy, my money is on somewhere in the muppet show. Was it the one about guessing muff types? For a bonus point, did you have Bearsy and Dog on ignore?
suewhistle Posted 1 August, 2012 Posted 1 August, 2012 I saw my name in a quote. The number of times I've seen my name in a quote is certainly more times than I've mentioned the person who was quoted. I find that quite funny. I also find it quite funny the number of times my posts such as this are immediately followed by posts from the person I have on ignore. Think I've mentioned said name twice, but if large numbers of people are aware who I've got on ignore it's not my fault. :-)
Tokyo-Saint Posted 1 August, 2012 Posted 1 August, 2012 Come on she, we are not talking about that anymore. We are trying to guess the thread.
pap Posted 1 August, 2012 Posted 1 August, 2012 Can the ignorers tell me what the process of ignoring someone? I'm not talking about the button you press on the site to do it, more the moments leading up to it. What sort of state of mind are you in? Is it the case that you've just decided you can't take any more from a certain poster? Is life just too short to entertain their horrid (relative to you) views? Isn't it the forum equivalent of running away, not facing up to your issues, or sweeping something under the carpet? I say your issues because they really are. You've got no choice over what people post, but you can control how that information affects you. Are all you ignorers honestly getting so worked up by words attached to a username that your solution is to pretend that the other person doesn't exist? What the f**k do you do in real life? Avoid eye contact and pass messages via a third party? Playground stuff, boys and girls.

That a supposed fully grown adult has to hide away from postings by a certain person as they just can't handle their emotions or how they react when reading something by an anonymous nobody on the internet. Frightening that so many get so worked up by it. Even more frightening how these people are desperate to tell all and sundry how weak willed they are, and how proud they are about it.

Hamilton Saint Posted 1 August, 2012 Posted 1 August, 2012 Forget "Ignore" - can we have an "Exterminate" function, please!
Saint_clark Posted 1 August, 2012 Posted 1 August, 2012 This thread is only destined for one outcome, and with that in mind I think it's more suited to TMS.
pap Posted 1 August, 2012 Posted 1 August, 2012 This thread is only destined for one outcome, and with that in mind I think it's more suited to TMS. You seem very certain, Saint_clark! What is your predicted outcome of this thread? We could start a book. I'll even cut you in on some of the profits so you can add a new bluff to Fiver Mountain.
Lighthouse Posted 1 August, 2012 Posted 1 August, 2012 I've got the whole forum on ignore, except for Just Mike.
sussexsaint Posted 2 August, 2012 Posted 2 August, 2012 I put myself on ignore and it punched a hole in time.
Saint in Paradise Posted 2 August, 2012 Posted 2 August, 2012 Is there anyway to tell if you are on someone elses ignore list? I expect the usual witty remarks about "I can't read what you have just posted" Mind you 99% of people seem to ignore me anyway

Avoid eye contact and pass messages via a third party? Playground stuff, boys and girls. I may be wrong but i have a vision of a tubby, middle aged person, hair unkept and crocked teeth staring into a computer screen, filled with hope and expectation as the logon for another fasinating day internet message board posting. The ignoree is at first a mild irritation to them, they draw little more than a few tuts and rolled eyes. However, after a few days of this the frown lines start to appear of their chubby little face, they start to feel their levels of anger rising slowly, they are compulsed to reply, composing, then deleting, then rewritting, then deleting, then deciding to go through with a strongly worded post telling the ignoree exactly that they think of them. They hope that this will crush any "trolling" as they like to put it but much to their amazement and fury, the "troll" comes back with another repsonse which send their temperature and rage into another stratoshpere. They thump away at their keyboard in rage, unable to contain their fury, not deleting this time, oh no. It's capital letter, after exclamation mark, after bold and underlined text, giving it to the troll with both barrells. THis will surely be enough? They log off, content with their work looking forward to the next session of forum posting a few hours later. Eagerly they log back on, hoping to see the "troll" has disapeared and they can come back to the board victorious. Sadly not. The "troll" has given them a cyber ironing out in the few minutes they've been and away with anger and fury at breaking point they take advice on what to do from their mother downstairs who advises them what they were told to do when called names at school. Walk away and ignore them. Sage advise they reason, and with them on ignore they can freely continue their enjoyment of the forum and remind the ignoree at every opportunity they are on ignore, unless of course they want to read their posts and see what the subject of their vitrol has to say today, which they can easily do.

You've painted a vivid picture, Turkish. Due to the absence of any justification from our "I'm ignoring you" announcers, I nominate your submission as the provisional working theory. Do we have a second?

It's the same as having a spam filter on your email, you don't use it because you're running away from the constant Viagra adverts or that u can't handle them. It's just more convenient to not have to read tedious amounts of drivel that are getting in the way of what you actually want to read.

As I'm feeling generous though, I shall take you at your word. What about the numpties who announce they're ignoring people? ( that goes for "got it in one" Weston Saint too )
Tokyo-Saint Posted 2 August, 2012 Posted 2 August, 2012 If you get spam, do you email the company spaming you to let them know that you have marked them as spam and their emails will now be going to your spam folder unread? Or is that just done on here?
pap Posted 2 August, 2012 Posted 2 August, 2012 I have quoted this as I'm sure many have Turkish AND Pap on their ignore list How are you sure exactly? Did your imagination tell you? Not got a great track record, mucker.
