Final season ticket holder number =

No I can't be certain, but that is how it appeared to be. No-one has shown otherwise yet and I may be wrong. The numbers do seem realistic, given it is a similar number to last time in the Premier League. Had it given a number of 27k season ticket holders I could understand the suspicion it might be wrong.

Only 3 seats in the entire stadium were listed as "locked by" and unavailable to purchase. One in block 8 and two in block 24.

Fair dos. Wasn't meaning to criticise. Sounds like positive news regardless of precise numbers. Cheers for the research - I'm sure most appreciate it.

Same old people jumping on me again.

I wonder how this thread would have turned out if someone else went to the effort of trying to inform the forum what season ticket sales may be...?

The9 was right in his prediction...

I'd like to thank MLG for taking the time and effort to bring us this information to drive informed debate.

I'm expecting it to be downhill from here. ;)

Interesting you cut the quote there and leave out the rest of what I said. I do have an idea. The impression the ticketing website gives is that is the number of tickets sold. As I also said...

and

"It also is in line with previous people that have totted up the numbers over the past few weeks."

I don't think the "locked by" is relevant because I managed to lock the seat I eventually bought after changing my mind (mid purchase) and not buying on line.

Were we in a recession from March to July 2004? That is only one year after finishing 8th and reaching the FA Cup final. 2003/04 saw a 12th place finish in the Premier League. We are now newly promoted and have already reached similar levels whilst in a massive global recession!

So we weren't underinvested and crap in those days then after all? Hard to keep up with your line of argument.

We quickly declined after Strachan left in 2004, probably due to lack of investment/ambition to push on after a number of mid table finishes and were relegated in 2005.

Shows we've not got a bunch of glory hunting JCL's but honest footballing fans who support the team, not success or investment, great init

If that was true we'd have had 22,500 season ticket holders in league one.

Generally, dealing with data from any source, there is a statement to say where it comes from and it's reliability. An easy inclusion to the OP I would have thought and would have saved many unnecessary posts.

Thing is what the **** does it matter?

My thought process went like this... Oh they've released the final season ticket number...Oh no they haven't some guys made a reasonable effort at a good indicator if anything.

What I didn't do is let it ruin my life and then bully said guy for no apparent reason.

Can we at LEAST have an argument over whether anyone thinks the figure that's been given is actually any good or not ?

...why not. How many STs did we sell in the Sturrock season? Anyone know?

I am presuming we have smashed past that total, what with it being an exciting new era and stuff.

Wasnt it about 22k as well? when we'd just had 3 successive midtable finishes, the cup final was only a year away and fresh in the memory and there was a real feel good factor around the club, despite us being crap and having no investment or ambition.

Strangely I took his posting of the figure and immediate use of the same figures in the same format as all the previous ST threads to mean he'd added them up from the figures on the ST site. There wasn't any question over his source and the reliability was as accurate as in the previous ST threads. He even showed his working. :)

I have already said its disappointing. As we could only muster around the same as 2004/05 despite everything being so Amazing around the club.

Thank you MLG, you're one of the more informed and interesting posters on here. Will be very few games far shy of capacity next season, and no-doubt this makes the case for expansion stronger.

Trolls, hang your heads, you have made yourselves look stupid yet again.

Mods, can you start imposing instant bans for anyone using the term 'mong'? I'm fine with swearing, but discrimination should be stamped on.

Does anyone over the age of 14 really use that term??

Decent total if correct and I doubt they'd make many more available to sell anyway as they will not want to put potential future ST holders off if they have little chance of getting match day tickets now. They didn't exactly rule out the possibility of 'half-season tickets' either in a article on the OS a few weeks back.

If we stay up and they reintroduce the 'Early Bird' next season then we could possibly start to see a 'waiting list'.

Fair play to MLG for putting this up, credit where it’s due would have taken some serious time to put that together.

Quick point, appreciate a few here have picked out block 3 as being snapped up by the club etc. There are a lot of ex block 4 ST holders that moved over there to be in a “wing” and therefore pay less (a couple of hundred at least 2/3 weeks ago when I last looked) as well as a few that moved over from the Northam. Also, that block 1&2 number is incorrect. The 243 available is only for block 1. Block 2 does not show up online and you had to buy tickets for there in person or over the phone (no idea why), that will be another couple of hundred ST holders there (including me) to make up for the “Scandal of block 3”.

As for if it’s a good number, I’m pretty “meh” about it. Would have loved to sell out (or certainly hit 25k) but the fact we f**ked economically and the decision to stop selling nearly a month before the first home game makes 22k+ a good number.

Shame this thread went down the usual route, I too have been posting since the “olden days” of 1999/2000 odd and this stuff comes round over and over - no point crying about it. Personally I’d like to see MLG cut a bit of slack but hey ho.

Anyway, I’ve got a ST and really looking forward to next season!

Up the Saints!

The bigger issue is that I can't see many away games going to general sale. Maybe the ones very north or SKY/weeknights, but the rest should sell out really.

I'm torn here. In previous PL years our following at northern grounds has been poor but over the last few years our following has boomed & a who generation of younger fans will have never done OT, Anfield etc so will want to do them.

Experience of PL aways = general sale v Recent years & new generation = no general sale.

Be interesting to see which way it goes.

To be fair, I'm 23 and have only done 5 of the current premier league grounds....Everton, Man Utd, Man City, Norwich, QPR. I have been doing about 10 aways the last few seasons (did about 15 in L1 promo season) and would be nice to do another load this season. Want to do all the London games but I can see Arsenal selling VERY quickly to STH who went to Man City. But yes I agree that there will be a lot of our fanbase who hasn't been to many of the Prem grounds this season. Out of the 5 which I have done I have done 2 without Saints and 2 while in the NPC.

That should dovetail quite nicely with the loads who've done a lot of the grounds already - I know of 3 ST holders who are adopting lower league teams to work on their "92" this season because they've already been to all but 2 of the Prem grounds and completed the Championship. Personally having had 20 years to work on the bottom 2 divisions with Newport and then Saints, I can't be arsed with the "92" thing any more, and the cost of travel now makes it prohibitive to me anyway.

The wife, however, has only recently discovered a love of Saints away days, which will probably lead to me getting roped into revisiting places I've been to loads - and we're going to Man City only because we want to go to Arsenal - so your suspicion about Emirates selling out very quickly is almost certainly right.

I'm not sure how I got pulled into the previous debate without even posting, but anyway.

From previous publications of the what the sales of season ticket figures might be, I'd say that "final" figure of 22,543 might be high, allowing for comps, staff, youth players, players' families etc. But even with that in mind I'd have thought only by up to 200 or 300 or so, a fairly negligible figure.

To answer the question of whether its an impressive figure or not; even if the full 22,500 is correct, its about a thousand or two less than I thought we might achieve. Feelgood factor and on the back of two great seasons, I have to say I'm slightly surprised we didn't hit an all time high of 24,000 this time round. 22,500 (or even 22,000) is still pretty decent though. And perhaps if we can consolidate in the league this year and push on, next year's figure will get close to achieving that.

Overall, a fairly decent but an unsurprsing level of sales.

I'm using my season ticket to get a ticket for someone else just so I can get an Arsenal ticket. Might even buy a kids ticket for the nipper & not use it because if he dipped out of Arsenal he'd be gutted plus we've already booked the train!

Personally I think sales are on about par with my expectations.

The real test is later when people understand how hard it is to get matchday tickets for the "big" games as for the last 7 years that hasn't been an issue.

It'll also be interesting to see exactly how they work the loyalty system for these games, or in fact all games. You'd have to think its not the easiest system to manage as the benchmarks can theoretically change game by game, particularly for the first half of the season as many non-season ticket holders are building up their points level from zero.

Shame friendlies don't count, I've made the probably daft decision to go to the Wolves game. TO says around 2,000 tickets sold so far, which is pathetic really.

It won't hurt the club to understand that friendlies need to be priced sensibly & that we aren't cash cows.

I'm not doing a single one at the prices they want.

Yep. It could be a case of me being able to get an Arsenal ticket but my lad not simple because I'll have a City ticket against mine & he won't.

That could then result in me being able to get Everton tickets & him not or me getting Arsenal & Everton tickets & those I usually go with not being able to simply because they are out of the country for the City & Arsenal games.

In theory unless I get a ticket for city for my nipper & then not use it he may not be able to attend an away game this season due to not getting on the points ladder.

it also doesn't seem clear to me how the priority for away games will go.

as one of the selling points for season tickets they put "priority for away tickets"

but that might not be the case.

if a non season ticket holder goes to Man City away, plus wigan / Man Utd home they would be ahead of other season ticket holders who didn't go to man city for the Arsenal away game based on "points"
