red&white56 Posted 31 July, 2012 Share Posted 31 July, 2012 Don't worry Miltonroader - there are lots of members who live for the opportunity to be sarcastic and sometimes unpleasant to others members. I will also miss Dan. He was a good servent and helped us get promoted twice. I still remember his goal last season at Leicester, a real opportunistic goal but a great reward for his attitude to always try to get up the pitch. Junction 9 Posted 31 July, 2012 Share Posted 31 July, 2012 Couldn't agree more, played a big part of getting us out of League 1 and was man of the match in the JPT final IMO. Cheers Dan, all the best at Forest.

red&white56 Posted 31 July, 2012 Share Posted 31 July, 2012 This. He's not very good. He was named in the League One Team of the Year for the 2010–11 season, so he must have some talent and should surely be labelled as a player who is better than "not very good". We can all breathe a sigh of relief you aren't the manager then. Good luck to Harding, never let us down - particularly enjoyed his goal and celebration up at Leeds when he was booed for the entire game simply for being one of their ex players. Saint Garrett Posted 31 July, 2012 Share Posted 31 July, 2012 He done a job in L1, tries hard. However he's constantly out of position and never looks comfortable on that ball. Best of luck to him but I'm glad he won't be playing for us this season. Will do a job at Forest as long as they have a decent LCB and LM to cover for him. Sad to see you leave Regardless of keeping Harding, I'd still get rid of Dickson before Fox. I personally think Fox is an improvement on Harding although I do worry about Fox this season. Let's see how he handles it first though.
SaintAndy14 Posted 31 July, 2012 Share Posted 31 July, 2012 Thanks for everything Dan. He always gave his all and played a big part in our back-to-back promotions. Will miss him shouting at the ball-boys to give him the ball quicker to take a throw-in - brilliant! A passionate player and will do well at Forest. Cannot understand those few who rubbish him above. the saint in winchester Posted 31 July, 2012 Share Posted 31 July, 2012 If someone with more PC nous than me can find the thread when we signed him.... there will be comments on there bearing my name showing I was deliriously happy that we signed him. And I'm saddened that we are letting him go. Very good player. Worked exceptionally well with Lallana. I'm not sure Fox is any better, really I'm not, but Nigel picks the team, and I assume he thinks he is and that he has someone waiting to join us (Olsson, maybe.) WHITEE1987 Posted 2 August, 2012 Share Posted 2 August, 2012 Not true - silly quote. One of those people who rate a player purely on the transfer value not the quality of the player... Im not rating him on transfer value. I genuinely thought he was s**t and not in any way dependable. I'd have seen him go for free for the peace of mind i'd never have to see his name on the team sheet again.
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 2 August, 2012 Share Posted 2 August, 2012 I always liked Dan Harding and obviously, like all right thinking fans, I wish him well for the future. Indeed is he not one of the best free transfers this club has signed in recent years? Time for a embarrassing admission now - try as I might - I still can't see this vast gulf in class that supposedly exists between Harding & Fox in all honesty. However as NA clearly prefers Fox then I'm happy enough to go along with his judgment. But is even Danny Fox really Premier League standard ? Remembering just how easily Reading's attack took him apart at St Marys (costing us the Championship title perhaps) the prospect of Fox v the best attacking players in the English game is not one that I look forward to with particular relish. Our obvious interest in signing another Left Back suggests that more important people than this ordinary fan think the much the same.
Special K Posted 2 August, 2012 Share Posted 2 August, 2012 He's a decent player with plenty to offer. Would have been useful cover. Will do well at Forest. good luck to him.
James Posted 2 August, 2012 Share Posted 2 August, 2012 He was decent in League One, but got found out at Championship level. I always worried whenever he was named on the team sheet. Anyone who rates him ahead of Fox is crazy imo. Fox is a vastly superior player and one which adds a lot more to our attacking play then Harding ever did. Good luck Dan, but it was the right time to move on.
Saint Garrett Posted 2 August, 2012 Share Posted 2 August, 2012 But is even Danny Fox really Premier League standard ? Nope, probably not but he's more likely to do us a job inthe Prem than Harding was. Also atleast Fox has a very decent delivery which will be an asset to us next season from corners/free kicks and also from out wide.

The9 Posted 3 August, 2012 Share Posted 3 August, 2012 The fact anyone thought Mills would be better than him is funny. They're both now playing for bottom half Championship sides from last season which suggests there's not much in it... I was more amused at eurosaint saying Burley would have played Harding at right back - which we ended up doing for a few matches at one point. The9 Posted 3 August, 2012 Share Posted 3 August, 2012 Also nice to see utter cobblers being spouted by Charlie Wayman and Glasgow Saint on that thread, still getting bites two promotions later : Quite! I've never heard of him either and admit my first reaction was "Here we go again with a whole string of no-names and no hopers coming in to fatten the payroll". At least St Albans Reserves wasn't on his CV. Sorry, not impressed at all. Try harder

Dan Harding was a very good signing, and turned out to be a very valuable player for us. Yes the premiership may be above his ability, but why can't fans recognise his contribution and wish him well? Personally at the stage we were rebuilding he was my favourite player in his first season with us.

david in sweden Posted 9 August, 2012 Share Posted 9 August, 2012 just read an interesting (and fairly positive) summary of the current Saints situation on " the Bleacher Report " ....included in a very long paragraph about player transfers, it suggested that Dan's move was for a fee of 500K....not bad for a player who came on free transfer 3 years ago .......and a v.good deal for Forest I'd say.
