Miltonroader07 Posted 30 July, 2012 Posted 30 July, 2012 Sat on the coach we realised it could be great or it could go very very wrong. But it went great!!!!! This season could be very much the same?? Has NA set up the team for the season. On the basis of Saturday maybe not. We are gonna need a goalkeeper and a holding midfilder IMO, also a shame to see Harding leave
Bananaman Posted 30 July, 2012 Posted 30 July, 2012 Thought they looked ok Sat, few additions needed but we all know what is and what will be...

We also have Gazzaniga, any other keeper we may bring in would IMO only be a youngster. High on the agenda is at least one CB, Adkins has suggested it may even be two. And they can't come soon enough, Saturday showed us just what will happen at top level if we continue to make stupid, basic mistakes at the back.

I've made the point several times on here that we are great when we are dominating teams but when our backs are against the wall and we're under pressure we are found wanting. So many times last season we gave sloppy goals away. We're going to be under a lot more pressure this season and will need plenty of quality defensive performances to come away with points, especially away from home.

Shame that we have such a tough start playing the top three three teams in the first few games but I am fairly confident that we will do OK
Miltonaggro Posted 30 July, 2012 Posted 30 July, 2012 On balance it might work out better to play the top sides at the start of the season than at the end. I think that we will see at least three, four, or even five new players before the close of window, including a keeper and an experienced centre half. In terms of trepidation, it feels just like the start of last season to me...
Turkish Posted 30 July, 2012 Posted 30 July, 2012 Just remember people, Burnley beat Man U 1-0 in their first home game of the season when they were up. Teams don't get into a head of steam until November time, a few players might not be fully fit after the euros, the new signings might not have gelled. I'm clutching at straws.
Miltonaggro Posted 30 July, 2012 Posted 30 July, 2012 If last season's momentum is worth anything, it's going to be in those first few games (I'm clutching too!). If we could get in a rock of a centre back and a real live wire forward / winger it will make things interesting...
