Olympic games

Real admiration for her. Arguable that she isn't world class though considering she is a world champion and has a silver and gold in the olympics. Does save it for the championships though.

The feature on BBC and Michael Jonhson's commentary said it. She'd only run under 50 seconds twice in her life, both in major champs. Way less than her rivals. Sanya Richards who took gold had run under 50 seconds more than 40 times in her career. Michael Johnson says Ohuruogu's skill is peaking at majors and coming in when other main challengers don't quite peak.

Well then what is world class? She is a former world champion.

That's like saying Greece are top class and better than all of Europe because they won the Euros.

She's very decent and consistent, capable of upping her perfomances when it counts.

Oh did Greece win a world cup, Euro and come second in the world cup as well? Maybe once yeah but she has won the worlds and got a first and second in two separate olympics. If that isn't world class then I don't know what is.

She's done great. I'm not at all denying that. But she won't be remembered as world class, say in the class of Michael Johnson or her victor tonight, Sanya Richards. She's been very good but at pretty much every point in her career she has been below the level of the absolute best, which is why she's always be seen as having done fantastically well to overachieve.

In any case, whatever you think and whether you agree or not, we should be proud of what she did tonight. Brilliant running from a superb athlete.

Brilliant last round comeback from Luke Campbell in the boxing earlier. Guaranteed medal after reaching the semis. No messing with a 3rd/4th fight to decide the bronze, both get one. He really should win the semi too, he's much better than the Japanese bloke he's fighting.

Just noticed, in the 100m final some idiot threw a beer bottle onto the track behind the starting line. Hope they get the book thrown at them.

Couldn't see it from where we were, doubt anyone cared that much as it didn't affect the runners.

The least she deserves for the effort she has put in across her career. She finally has a medal to sign off with.

Possibly would have been gold if she hadn't slightly stumbled on her dismount. Great performance though.

Katie Taylor for Ireland in the women's boxing is a class apart. Man oh man she was absolutely brilliant.
