LGTL Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 I simply cannot wait to go to the Athletics next week.
Thedelldays Posted 4 August, 2012 Author Posted 4 August, 2012 Got murray twice tomorrow. Two more medal guaranteed How many more cycling events are there? Still in the hunt with sailing Hockey? Farrah with 5k Anything else???
Colinjb Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Time to dispose of Stuart Pearce from all levels of national responsibility, an utter dinosaur and everything wrong with the national game. Other then that. Today has been perfection.

badgerx16 Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 More cycling medals up for grabs tomorrow, and hopefully Christine Ohurougu and Yamile Aldama can boost the athletics total.

RedWillie Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Hope Jess runs the hurdles - I can then see her bum in the flesh as it were as we're going Tuesday !!! Go Team GB
alpine_saint Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Football lets the side down - as usual. The Premier League's finest young talent humilliated by S. Korea. I hate football sometimes. Aarron Ramsey's two regular-time penos were SCHEIßE
Red Alert Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Stunning viewing today, literally been jumping all over the place watching this evening. 1 week in and honestly the best Olympics of my life time. I can't help but feel the footballers have just seen this as pre-season training, nowhere near the same desire to win as with the proper athletes. Bring on the tennis and cycling tomorrow.

AussieDog Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 I was beginning to think I was turning into an Australian (after being here for 9 years) as I had no interest or patriotism towards the English football team (or the GB football team either), but have been getting more and more patriotic as the week has progressed, culminating in that 10,000 metres this morning ....sorry...evening. It's certainly been a challenge trying to watch the events at the right time! Was worth getting up at 6am on a Sunday morning to watch it though, and by the end I was on my feet and shouting (sorry neighbours, but you can f*** right off it annoyed you ) I originally put in for the ballot for tickets and was going to come over, but got nothing so ended up coming over earlier and saw some of the promotion run-in. Sort of a win win situation really as I probably ended up saving about 10 grand

rallyboy Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 We've been in the Velodrome today! Wow! - well worth the 4.30am alarm. The Olympics has delivered on every level. Seb is da man. Even the most miserable non-sports fan must see the benefits of such an amazing few weeks.
alpine_saint Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Why does your only post this evening concentrate on the one negative? Because I've only just got to my PC after pulling myself off the ceiling at Mo Farrah's win, and dried my eyes after Jessica's medal ceremony, and the football was the topic most currently being discussed at the tip of this thread ? Troll.
Griffo Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Would you be motivated to play football in front of a crowd of happy clappy mexican wavers?
The Cat Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Was that 6 golds today? 2x Rowing 1x Cycling 3x Athletics Or have I missed any? As for the cycling then Ed Clancy could win gold in the Omnium tomorrow. He's 4th placed after 3 events, with 2 of his strongest to come. There's also a very good chance that Jason Kenny and Victoria Pendleton will win golds in the sprint. There's still the madison but that's a crazy event and impossible to call.

SO16_Saint Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Have just watched 10 hours of sport, but gotta watch the round up show in BBC just to make sure....
Wade Garrett Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 What a day. I'm glad Mo didn't put his head in the gob that Rupp left on the track. The most amazing Olympic day ever. I feel so lucky I'm going for my own personal best tonight, if the missus lets me.

hypochondriac Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 It is. The word from the people working there, that the "family" are just blown away with the facilities but also having an Olympics in London is a massive draw itself It is the most attended and WR have been tumbling all over the place Also, the legacy will be the best yet How are we being perceived abroad?
The Cat Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Men's Keran as well?? And that. We could win at least 3 more golds in the velodrome. Boxers doing well too. Reckon one of them will grab gold.
Thedelldays Posted 4 August, 2012 Author Posted 4 August, 2012 How are we being perceived abroad? Dunno really. Talked to some South Africans and Canadians when at the park and they were gobsmacked when they found out the sheer number of volunteers helping out. And how friendly the general British public are. The organisation is simply top notch too. A few mishaps, yes with some empty seats but these are really minor I guess
Thedelldays Posted 4 August, 2012 Author Posted 4 August, 2012 Oh, and hears some yanks at Waterloo getting very over excited that beach volleyball was about a stones throw from NO.10 and afterwards try can stroll up and have a look at the palace etc
explorer saint Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Plastic fan!!! Yep probally a northerner who hated everying abouth the olympics becuase there was nothing for them in Harlepool or Liverpool its all for the southerners, we hate them blah blah blah, but even Andy Murray said it was the best competition ever ! cant be right even he thinks its good so all of a sudden the winging scots at last get behind GB Just makes you proud to be british and english great week and a great night loved mo what a chap and John Inverale interview with the gb silver boys
Thedelldays Posted 4 August, 2012 Author Posted 4 August, 2012 The interview with the silver medalist in rowing just highlights what a terrible attitude footballers have when it comes to England That was what the will to win is. Can Rooney and co come away from the euros saying they have their all. Well, going on the pop to Vegas before hand suggest he never These Olympics have really shown what representing your nation is all about

Just highlights the difference between those that are given the world for the talent they have and those that have to work hard every minute of every day for recognition/achievement. Football really is a sickening sport at times.
anothersaintinsouthsea Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Very proud to be British today. I hope that we start to invest even more heavily in sports, really inspiring and hopefully getting the feelgood factor back in the country.
Saintandy666 Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Brilliant. The morons who predicted whe'd do bad after 4 days are idiots and don't know anything about the Olympics. Our sports have come and we have done great. Fantastic!

Saint_Ash Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 I'm loving the Olympics! Maybe we're being biased as ite on home soil but this is the best one I've seen and it's great that all brits can be together for the common cause. I've never felt so emotional towards our athletes before whether they win or lose, these guys aren't doing it for money like footballers they're doing it for pride, and whether they win or lose you know they've tried their danm hardest.

Our sports have come and we have done great. Fantastic! It wasn't moronic really. Our first few days are disappointing and no one seriously expected us to do as well as we have.
Saint_clark Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 I've been trying to sum up how I feel for ages now, but I just can't. I'm just emotionally charged, so many different feelings running through my head. I reckon at least another 3 golds tomorrow.
BadgerBadger Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 Just got back from the athletics and it was the most amazing night, the atmosphere was truly electric, stunning. Highlight has to be Mo's final 4 laps with the wave of cheering following him round the laps, building to a mad, mad crescendo in the final 200m, absolutely stunning roar. We had seats right in front of the podium and Jess's medal ceremony was the icing on the cake, the national anthem was very very special. Seeing Rutherford's joy of the gold, it all made for a top night, felt very very privileged to have witnessed a historical day. Apparently it's a year to the day that the riots started, wow what a different a year makes. Have to say the whole end to end from Southampton Parkway and back was faultless, no queues, no stress, no drama, no negativity, Olympic Park and the atmosphere is superb - hats of to the organisers, top notch, we can all be very proud.
Saint in Paradise Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 Are you saying I don't know anything then child? Perhaps he meant you are an all knowing person but didn't phrase it correctly ?
Jimmy_D Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 Just finished watching it all all over again. Utterly utterly fantastic. *bounce*bounce*bounce*
Doctoroncall Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 Are you saying I don't know anything then child? What did you say? Expectations were for 49 medals at this Olympics, one more than Beijing.
Lazlo78 Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 And sailing. Come on ainslie! You've had your fair share of gold you greedy gits - let the Dane take gold and Ainslie can have silver...
CB Saint Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 You've had your fair share of gold you greedy gits - let the Dane take gold and Ainslie can have silver... I have one word for that.... B0llocks
SO16_Saint Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 We are currently 4th in the all time list of Golds for team GB at an Olympics: 56, 19, 15 - 14 to date. Think we will end up.with 20 golds.

Saintandy666 Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 It wasn't moronic really. Our first few days are disappointing and no one seriously expected us to do as well as we have. Not really. It was well known where our medal chances were and except the road race we were on schedule.
Thedelldays Posted 5 August, 2012 Author Posted 5 August, 2012 Not really. It was well known where our medal chances were and except the road race we were on schedule. Then why was last billed as the greatest in British sport. It was extraordinary
Doctoroncall Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 Then why was last billed as the greatest in British sport. It was extraordinary you're showing a bit of naivety there then to believe it was a dead certain medal.
Saintandy666 Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 Then why was last billed as the greatest in British sport. It was extraordinary No Farah and Jess Ennis were expected to feature. The long jump wasn't. I agree with you though, it was extraordinary. I'm talking about on day 4 anyways. Yesterday is irrelevant.
