If he gets through this, I really feel he can beat Federer over 3 sets. He seems like a man on a mission.

Hope not. You could have said the same at Wimbledon but he was totally outclassed.

Under the roof Federer was supreme. Before the roof closed, it was much more even, perhaps even slightly towards Murray. Murray and Federer are 8-8 on head to head. He can do this.

Pray for rain and the roof gets closed then.

We've been through this before. Head to head is meaningless since Federer only really turns it on in the things that count such as the slams (and the results prove this.)

Yes, but all the players do that. Try to peak around the slams. The main difference is 3 sets vs. 5 sets. Murray is on the up at the moment now.

Yeah but watching his match against Del Potro earlier he looks very beatable. Lots of unforced errors.

He's probably tired TBF. I still wouldn't be surprised to see Federer storm it though, he often looks poor in a few rounds and then supreme in the final.

Agree with this. Plus it's the only thing Roger has never won. Would like him to complete the set :)

Didn't know that. I'm a Fed fan for sure now. He's impossibly suave, I think I have a bit of man love for him.

Come...Murray may be a miserable sour dour sod' date=' but he's OUR (GB) miserable sour sod and gold will do very nicely in the old medal table[/quote']

Scotch Frank, and not a good one. Not one of mine, thanks.

And me. He is the greatest sportsman of our era IMO. FFS Murray complaining about his back again. He is always moaning.

I don't like murray..but you are a bit obsessive in the constant wanting him to lose

Nice to see Murray "bottle" it again. Does Kraken not want the very Scottish Chris Hoy and Katherine Grainger to win for GB?

Tough.

Just Murray thanks Letsbe. Hit Scotchness has little to do with the reason I dislike him. He's on a par in my dislike stakes with Tiger Tim Henman, if that eases the pain for you?

If you read back you will see I said I wanted him to win this one. I only comment when he is playing so hardly an obsession

ok. when he plays, your obsessiveness on wishing him to lose and the way you say he is a loser is a tad OTT IMO

Or the German :scared:in the track sprint team ?

Frank, if you're going to go down the nationality route for Team GB you'll find a lot of such examples. Including double gold medal hope, Somalian-born Mo Farah.

I expected to see Alpine on here moaning about how we're only 3rd in the table?

We'd just as well conserve effort and let our athletes have a proper effort at 2016 instead, this year is gone.

I actually get a little offended when people like Alps complain about our athletes this way. They are doing it for themselves first and foremost, not for a bunch of couch potatos. If we support them, all well and good, I choose to personally, but only out of admiration for their commitment and dedication. To criticise them as though they are "letting the country down" is just pathetic. Anyone who does this should just get off their arse and get into the competition.

Bring back Motorsport! It used to be in the Olympics!

If you can have a horse then use Horsepower!

Glad rugby 7's gets introduced in Rio. Not convince golf should be (though I'm sure DP will disagree - winking thing)

Golf - the lads SHOULD be able to take part in the Olympics - having spoken to many of them they REALLY want to be a part of the "global community" rather than hacking round some look-alike course in America. Personally I would be VERY disappointed if they have normal tournament Medal play, they really should try for a Match Play format - ie the lads play for the team not themselves....

Rugby 7's - well I like to think I played like a 1/1,000.000.000th of a part in helping get that into the Olympics. My best mate here is the front of house/Entertainments MC/Director for the Dubai 7's We had the normal Dubai 7's and they arranged petitions etc. Then Jacques Rogge himself came down & did an inspection for the World Cup and all of us in the crowd put on a helluva show for him - my mate was in the thick of it pulling a couple of stunts & gags (mainly to do with the Player procession & Camels we'd dreamt up in the pub the week before. Whatever - it worked and the 7's in Rio will be a great couple of days to be at.

Back to reality though, what another great day for Team GB, shame about the girls soccer, thought they had a chance of a medal.

And well, who'd have thought it eh? A Brit through to a final at Wimbledon for the first time since??? Well, since a couple of weeks ago. Like London buses - you wait 60 odd years and two come along at once.

Good luck to the lad. He may have a chance after Fed's epic. But happy to see Gentleman Roger win

(He's another in the long & boring list of sports stars who have bought D_P a beer and asked for Life coaching advice)

Phil,

Please don't ever call the beautiful game, "soccer" again when posting on here

Cheers

Dude you are SO right.

My bad - was in the pub earlier and we have a weird mix of taters & was surrounded by Yanks Lebanese and worst of all - Jocks - it was a Yank tater for the girls and he was - yeah well you know

(Although, TBF we did have the bloke who isn't Ron Pickering but is also on the Beeb for the Athletics)

Dressage. What a complete non-sport. What's next, dog walking?

Too technical for you ? There is an awful lot of work goes into dressage, and I'd much rather watch that than judo - can't work out what's going on at all.

Yes, the only reason I don't like dressage is because it's too technical for my limited understanding. Nothing at all to do with it being absolutely mind numbingly boring.

My wife and I were discussing this evening, why the Austrians dont enter the Spanish Riding School of Vienna with their Lipizzaner horses under the guise of their team, then at least they would win a medal.

We concluded that the high society of Vienna is far too snobby to see an institution so entrenched in the history of Imperial Austria-Hungary involved in such a proletarian gathering such as the Olympics.

Austrian snobbery makes the worst elements of the British aristocracy seem like chavs.

I went to the athletics last night & it was 'kin brilliant.

Got there about 2ish. Parked in Loughton and 5 stops or so to Stratford and straight into the park which, must be said, was mighty impressive.

The volunteers were excellent & the whole experience was top draw & the noise in the stadium when Jess ran her 200m was enough to make your teeth rattle.

Whole thing was very well organised & my sports mad nipper wants to do Rio in 2016 instead of cricket in the WI or the WC in Brazil!

Excellent day isn't it.

The place is just enormous!!!

I never had a problem with travel either. Guess the well placed horror stories worked.

This so far has been the biggest and best Olympics apparently.

Also, another reason why so many o the "Olympic family" seats are empty at the venues is because so many of the officials are out in London shopping and sight seeing lol
