Thedelldays Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 Well. Where are the medals FFS?? Women's football look good for a gong. Cavendish was beaten. Arlington tomorrow? I have a feeling we are going to be well short of the target
alpine_saint Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 Yes, it is not going well. (its Adlington, btw)
dune Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 (edited) I watched the womens handball for about 5 minutes - what a thoroughly stupid game. Reckon they should liven it up with the sack race. Edited 28 July, 2012 by dune
Saint in Paradise Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 How much longer is this extended sports day lasting? Can't be much longer surely seeing all those empty seats so might as well end it very soon.
badgerx16 Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 (edited) What is the target? Minimum 4th in the medals table, as in Beijing - assuming that the United States pharmaceutical industry is top, with the Chinese pharma 2nd, ( or vice versa ) we are supposed to be aiming to keep either Germany or Russia in 5th. Edited 28 July, 2012 by badgerx16
Saintandy666 Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 Calm down. We didn't win any medals on day 1 last time round either and went on to do our best since ages ago. Give them a chance. There's only been one day.

Kingsland Codger Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 Well. Where are the medals FFS?? Women's football look good for a gong. Cavendish was beaten. Arlington tomorrow? Is Arlington a dead cert? Would it be a grave matter if not?
Saintandy666 Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 Really Andy, thanks for going to all that effort to count up how many days it's been running, i'd never have been able to have worked it out. I felt it needed to be pointed out again as people seem to think it's over already!
dune Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 I felt it needed to be pointed out again as people seem to think it's over already! I thought it'd be going on for like a week. Was amazed when you said it was only 1 day!
Saint in Paradise Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 I felt it needed to be pointed out again as people seem to think it's over already! More's the pity it isn't over yet. Bored to tears with it already.
bridge too far Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 Not the best of days so far today either. Female archers out; badminton mixed pair out. And Adlington just scraped into the 400m final. And it looks like the mens' 4 x 100 relay team is out too.
Turkish Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 The commentator was trying desperately hard to make Ben Ainsleys race sound interesting but it rates as probably one of the dullest things I've ever seen.
Ken Tone Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 Somebody please explain to me why we have 'Team GB', rather than 'Team UK', when uk includes northern ireland and GB doesn't?
Saint_clark Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 More's the pity it isn't over yet. Bored to tears with it already. No-ones forcing you to watch any of it. I live in Weymouth which has the sailing events, and apart from the town being busier (which it is every summer) it hasn't really impacted on my life at all.
dune Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 The commentator was trying desperately hard to make Ben Ainsleys race sound interesting but it rates as probably one of the dullest things I've ever seen. Even duller than Frank?
buctootim Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 More's the pity it isn't over yet. Bored to tears with it already. Am always bemused when people post stuff like this - its not like the 1970s when you only had three channels to choose from and the Olympics were on all of them. Ive got almost 600 channels on my tv, most of them are utter tedious ****e as far I concerned, but presumably some people like them. Watch or do something else and be happy millions of people are inside watching tv so you can go out on quiet roads.
Thedelldays Posted 29 July, 2012 Author Posted 29 July, 2012 at last..on course for a medal in the ladies road race
PaulSaint Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 Adlington swimming around 8.15`ish, she was 8th fastest. Out of 8
ecuk268 Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 As someone who has had no interest in cycling, I really enjoyed the women's race.
Thedelldays Posted 29 July, 2012 Author Posted 29 July, 2012 As someone who has had no interest in cycling, I really enjoyed the women's race. it was quite good actually....the weather was horrific and the Brit almost done it against the favourite
bridge too far Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 Phenomenal asymetric bars routine by Beth Tweddle just now!
dune Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 Well unlike you armchair sports fans one played golf today for the first time in 10 years today. Picked up a set of clubs including bag, balls, tee's, umbrella and trolley for 30 quid from a car boot en route. Averaged about 5 per hole (all par 3's) was hitting the long balls ok, but my short game was terrible.

mcjwills Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 Adlington swimming around 8.15`ish, she was 8th fastest. Out of 8 It not about the time it was to qualify and save energy for the final.
JackFrost Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 One of female Russian archers is a hideous fat lump. Sounds like you missed the ladies' synchronised diving earlier
Griffo Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 Can you only press the red button and choose sports on Sky? I can't do it on either Virgin Media or Freeview.
dune Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 Can you only press the red button and choose sports on Sky? I can't do it on either Virgin Media or Freeview. There's several options of freeview hd if you have that.
JackFrost Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 Can you only press the red button and choose sports on Sky? I can't do it on either Virgin Media or Freeview. On freeview you need to retune your box to get the extra red button channels for the olympics
RonManager Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 Blimey, Sean Ryder's in the GB water polo team! Call the copsssssssssssssss..
Whitey Grandad Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 Can you only press the red button and choose sports on Sky? I can't do it on either Virgin Media or Freeview. On Virgin Media all the BBC Olympic channels are grouped above sports. The cycling yesterday was 522.
JackFrost Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 LOL at the BBC switching to the hockey just as Romania went 9-1 up in the water polo
ecuk268 Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 Can you only press the red button and choose sports on Sky? I can't do it on either Virgin Media or Freeview. Virgin have all 24 extra channels in both normal and HD.

Saintandy666 Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 Here's Adlington - apparently not expected to win gold again.
hutch Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 Try hitting the ball with the metal end. Unless you're using a 3 wood
Verbal Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 Unless you're using a 3 wood Don't confuse him. He'll only try and head the damn thing.
Saintandy666 Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 Well Andy, how many days and how many medals now? 2 days my dearest friend, and 2 medals. Just looked at our medals last time round and nearly all our golds came in a 4 day period. Day 5 to day 9. 14 out of 19 of our golds.
aintforever Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 The football is shocking, can't even beat a bunch of arabs. No surprise though with Stuart Pearce as manager.
alpine_saint Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 I see the footballers are honouríng us with their sense of sporting spirit and winning desire, yet again...........
Badger Posted 29 July, 2012 Posted 29 July, 2012 I see the footballers are honouríng us with their sense of sporting spirit and winning desire, yet again........... No surprise. Four of them don't want to be there as they don't think its their country they are representing. And I don't suppose the rest are too bothered either. Stuart Pearce ? To think some wanted him as manager at Saints once upon a time.
Thedelldays Posted 29 July, 2012 Author Posted 29 July, 2012 Pearce inspires zero enthusiasm Saints would probably beat this UAE side As for picking Giggs as skipper? Do me a favour and Bellamy is definitely not my cuppa
