Amazing Hangover Posted 28 July, 2012 Share Posted 28 July, 2012 off topic - Just a quick one the Ill shut up. Best tune of the night was accompanying David Beckham on his boat - a rocky psychedelic number with mumbled vocals (which is why I cant google them) - What was it?? Also for all the twitterers who don't understand rock music - The Arctic Monkeys were great - pure rough, melodic, punky RocknRoll and a perfect version of 'Come Together'. Coldplay should have played my arse.

smackalec Posted 28 July, 2012 Share Posted 28 July, 2012 I really don't think they'd want to go near your arse. However I do think they should have closed the show instead of Paul McCartney

Rebel Posted 28 July, 2012 Share Posted 28 July, 2012 Paul McCartney has become a sad parody of an ageing rock star - they might well have had Elton John play he was so cringeworthy!
david in sweden Posted 28 July, 2012 Share Posted 28 July, 2012 He did'nt sound that good did he. well you probably won't sound too good when you're 68.......but surely he had a right to play the tune after all ..he did write it in the first place. But he's never really had a good voice anyway, has he. Tom Jones' voice has got better as he's aged and he's older than Macca I think. And there's nothing wrong with Elton's voice. Viking Saint Posted 28 July, 2012 Share Posted 28 July, 2012 McCartney is actually 70, but yes, his voice is getting very weak, can't hit the tougher notes anymore....anyone else notice him being out of time with the backing track in the first verse?? Viking Saint Posted 28 July, 2012 Share Posted 28 July, 2012 you mean more so than Mick Jagger? Jagger can actually still deliver his songs and has a very tight band behind him to deliver.....I saw McCartney join Springsteen at Hyde Park and was disappointed at how poor he was, even if anybody would get blown away by The Boss...... alpine_saint Posted 31 July, 2012 Share Posted 31 July, 2012 I like the Brian Eno track that provided the back-drop to the pictures of the lost loved ones; it also featured in Danny Boyle's film 28 Days Later.
