For anyone that cares, Ive heard princess and avensis have no longer got the contract to run the travel club.

the contract is now lucketts ( pompey based firm ) since pompey are ****ed, lucketts decided to bid for the saints contract, at prices princess and avensis could not compete with.

a bit gutted if im honest, as used it alot the past couple of seasons and the drivers are massive saints fans, and its a really good laugh sometimes. boss of princess is fuming aparently. spent a lot of money on new coaches, to cater for disabled and that, but i guess its just a thing in life you have to deal with..

P.s ive heard alot of lucketts drivers are pompey fans!

This doesnt surprise me and disappointing if true

I know it is a difficult balancing act to ensure the football club is well run but I do believe that loyalty to supporters, ex players and suppliers does provide long term benefits.

The joint owners of Princess Coaches are both big Saints fans, family season ticket holders etc and they have had to jump through hoops to get the Saints contract including ,as has been said, investing in disabled friendly vehicles as well as being told to pay for ground advertising as part of the deal.

They will be really gutted and I can imagine who will get the blame.

Hopefully Lucketts will do a good job but only time will tell.

Changing the subjest slightly, Coliseum used to have the contract to transport the Pompey team on their away days.

Some suggestion that Ernie's Executive travel of Emsworth has taken over!!

Agree with this, would be interested to know how much Lucketts undercut Princess/Avensis by though. If it's by a significant amount, then fair enough; if it's only a nominal amount, then it's a shame.

If it was nominal, I'm sure the others would have matched. If they can't match it then it must be a fair amount

Lucketts is full of Pompey supporters. FACT. I know one. I would never travel on a Lucketts for anything.

First the Southampton company printing the programme for years is pushed aside for a portsmouth printer, and now this. The people who run Avensis and Princess are Saints fans and have given good service over the years to Saints.

The club expects loyalty from the local community but it helps if it works the other way too.

Like people have said will be a shame to change, Ive only used the travel club a few times but the regulars seem to have a good rapport with the drivers and you quite often see them watching the game. If Princess are going to carry on running a service it will be interesting to see how their prices compare to the 'official' coaches, do they get subsidised by the club or do the club get a backhander for awarding the contract?

:suspicious: Programme printers, Bookmakers, Travel Club & some Catering all gone to Companies from the vile end of the M27. What do you expect when some Dinlo from SFC employs a ex Skate Employee (and fan of) as Marketing Manager.

Yep I think he is called Chris Taylor or Naylor ? I can remember a mate banging on about how we had employed a ex Skate employee who had something to do with out sourcing contracts just after the tinpot bookies outfit were given a contract. Maybe some on here with a bit of ITK can look into this.

I know Steve luckett, I can confirm he's a complete and utter tosspot. I even asked him if I could book a few coaches for the JPT but he said he only did skate games. I guarantee if he's involved Saints travel will be a more miserable experience this season

It's a Pompey conspiracy!!!!

I'm sure supporting the club to you is all about buying the latest shirt each year and thinking up new chants. But to some people it's about community and when the local club doesn't support the local community it's a great pity.

You 'joke' about a Pompey conspiracy, but as has been pointed out the guy handing out all these contracts to Portsmouth firms is a Portsmouth fan.

So for all the wailing and gnashing of teeth, it turns out the new coach company are actually coliseum, and based locally in West End.

Brilliant stuff, you investigative sleuths :lol:

Still part of Lucketts (official Pompey travel club) but has an SO postcode and ferries the first team.

According to the link posted above, Coliseum are owned by Lucketts but operate as a separate company. When taken over all staff (including owner) kept their jobs, and the company expanded. So all the crying about stitching up local companies and employees was an over-reaction.

great no Eastleigh pick up - where people can park for free and I can walk to.

Have you actually read the article???

On matchdays all coaches will depart from St Mary's stadium as normal and call in at various pick up points which will be announced ahead of each away game on saintsfc.co.uk

I believe for Man City Coliseum are charging £28 per person and Avensis & Princess are charging £20

I think it is great we have more competiton for away travel, that should give fans more choice and keep prices down like the £20 for man city, bargain. The deal Dan is offering on the forum is a cracking deal.

You know, you can always vote with your feet and if NO-ONE uses Collesium, and only use Avensis & Princess, then they will be back in the frame, will be able to charge MUCH more money on the deal, and the price of season tickets, shirts etc. will go up.

This is capitalism. You go out to tender, you may have a prefered bidder in mind, but if the other bloke can do it cheaper, you have to go with him. And as for keeping in with the local community, if NC came on here and said the official coach company was Avensis & Princess, but to subsidise the deal he would ahve to put £10.00 on all tickets, this thread would still exist, but would be about ripping off the fans, (and in Schrodingers universe, it probably does, and Pompey have paid all their debts, Saggy Chops regularly gives to Charity and is spearheading a campaign against corruption, the Green party are in power and Nick Illingsworth has a season ticket).
