CB Saint Posted 27 July, 2012 Posted 27 July, 2012 Fair play to the Canadian, Ian millar - his tenth Olympics
harvey Posted 27 July, 2012 Posted 27 July, 2012 I thought the ceremony was brilliant, well done Danny Boyle, knighthood in the bag on New Years Day I'd say. Perfect distillation of what it is to be British - history, humour, heart, diversity, great music, pomp, style and fu ck me we invented industry, modern capitalism, universal healthcare and the world wide web. Had a little well up four of five times through the show, our country really is freaking ace. Anyone want the parade to finish now, though. Jeez. A knighthood?????????.........jesus
Colinjb Posted 27 July, 2012 Posted 27 July, 2012 Roger bannister will light the cauldron. FACT. Still reckon Steve Redgrave. Or John Terry....
CB Saint Posted 27 July, 2012 Posted 27 July, 2012 Roger bannister will light the cauldron. FACT. Hopefully with the female announcer
ottery st mary Posted 27 July, 2012 Posted 27 July, 2012 I think Lord Danny Boyle will be more appropriate after this jaw dropping spectacle...
doubleonothing Posted 27 July, 2012 Posted 27 July, 2012 Roger bannister will light the cauldron. FACT. Odds were cut after a late surge in betting. Either him or Redgrave. Got to be.
aintforever Posted 27 July, 2012 Posted 27 July, 2012 A knighthood?????????.........jesus People have received knighthoods for much less. As an ad for the UK, for a worldwide audience of a billion+ that was pretty damn good.
Turkish Posted 27 July, 2012 Posted 27 July, 2012 Turkish will be proud, we are dressed most smartly. The italians looked good as well as usual. My home from home.
dune Posted 27 July, 2012 Author Posted 27 July, 2012 Odds were cut after a late surge in betting. Either him or Redgrave. Got to be. Betting was suspended. it's nailed on. The bookies know.
Turkish Posted 27 July, 2012 Posted 27 July, 2012 Still reckon Steve Redgrave. Or John Terry.... john Terry wouldn't make it up the stairs, he'd be side tracked by abusing all the black people in the industrial revolution scene.

Griffo Posted 27 July, 2012 Posted 27 July, 2012 Ha, the German Ambassador gave a Nazi salute by the looks of it. P*ssed myself when I saw it, couldn't believe my eyes.
doubleonothing Posted 27 July, 2012 Posted 27 July, 2012 Danny Wallace @dannywallace Qatar have sent about 9 people. A real nation of athletes. Bodes well for the World Cup.
harvey Posted 27 July, 2012 Posted 27 July, 2012 People have received knighthoods for much less. As an ad for the UK, for a worldwide audience of a billion+ that was pretty damn good. You think it was good but i thought it was pretty crap. If you enjoyed it then that's really good (I wanted to), but I personally didn't think it was.
angelman Posted 27 July, 2012 Posted 27 July, 2012 I think I have a soft spot for Victoria Pendleton, although she could have a wee bit more up front.
