"I will still be on soccer saturday but didnt want any bother trying to get tickets on a match by match basis when i wasnt working. I'll be able to watch sunday and midweek games"

I guess this thread will turn into a debate about the club should give him a free one. I see no harm in making everyone pay for a ticket, no matter who they are.

Interesting that he is going in the Kingsland, can anyone make out the block, row and seat on his ticket? Us mortals in the Kingsland will get to see him for Sunday and midweek games! :)

Block 40, row DD, seat a guess of 36

Either way that's pretty cool and a sensible solution for the great man. Dishing out free one's isn't really the most sensible thing for the club as it'll be too hard to draw the line for who does and doesn't get one (sadly).

Hmmm. I think there's a line that can be drawn; don't give out any season tickets, but have 10 or so tickets free for ex players for every game. Players have to apply each time for a ticket, and they're given a table in one of the coporate suites amongst other fans. I did that in the old Ambassador's Suite once, Lawrie Mac hosted it and that day there was Jim Steele, Glenn C o ckerill and Jimmy Case with him. Jim Steele did a 5 minute speech to everyone, Lawrie Mac hosted it, the ex-players chatted with the guests, it was brilliant. Its a touch that the whole "keep ex players at arm's length" approach of the new regime hasn't yet come close to replicating IMO, which is a shame.

Still find it hard to understand why he has to pay for a ticket when he wants to come to St Marys. Out of interest do current players/members of staff have to pay to watch a match?

I very much doubt he paid for all of his seats in corporate last year. I didn't because the times I was in there were comp tickets from an ex player.

Good opporunity for weirdos to creep over on the Saturdays when he ain't there and sniff his seat or whatever!

I stopped at the motorway services earlier for a dump and went in the cubical, shut the door and sat down and it was only then I noticed that someone had written this on the back of the door, "I came on the door handle".

Something like that would be a nice tributes to the Great Man!

As I understand both Cortese and Markus when he was with us, pay for a season ticket. I'm sure I read somewhere Cortese state this as one of the first things we heard from him. He basically said everyone must pay including him.

Anyone else remember that?

Well as I said, I know for a fact that some ex players get comp tickets for free direct from the club so that's a load of rubbish.

What the **** makes you the expert on MLT's motivations?

I could ask the same of you. I have actually spoken to him though (last year, whatever game was on the night that Arsenal had that comeback in the champions league but just fell short). I was also on an episode of question of sport with him when he was dressed as Elvis. And you?

Priceless! thank you! I expressed an opinion and you flatly and authoritively contradicted it on the basis that you once cornered him in a car park and were in the audience when he did Question of Sport. hahahahaha hahaa hahaaha ahahaahah haahahahahahaahaha hahaahahahaa

Your mention of an olive branch makes no sense. He was never banned from St Marys and never stopped going. There is no olive branch to offer. Everything else about your reply is pathetic.

Fair play to Matty.

Shame he has to buy a Season ticket (personally feel he should be entitled to a ticket when he likes for what he's done for the club) and it's like that sort of situation but good on him for showing his support for the club and getting one anyway.
