Viking Warrior Posted 25 July, 2012 Share Posted 25 July, 2012 Hot topic in Scotl;and at Present I do not have a problem with this. Nicola Sturgeon has stated that The Scottish government has already made clear that no religious body will be compelled to conduct same-sex marriages and that such protection is provided for under existing equality laws. She has basically passed the buck to the lawyers and the ECHR by saying that it is her and Kings Alec's view is that to give certainty on protection for individual celebrants taking a different view from a religious body that does agree to conduct same-sex marriages, an amendment will be required to the UK Equality Act." So in a nutshell we will not force religious bods to conduct the cermony in Kirks, however if you dont then you will be charged under the equality act for discrimination against gay folk if they refuse to carry out a marriage in the Kirk. On a different subject The scottish Parliment are holding a cabinet meeting next month in Orkney. I might ask the question how they plan to create their own Armed Forces with out impacting on country's armed forces. Some clear suggestions is that they will ask alkl current scottish soldiers to consider resigning from their current corps and regiments etc and Tuped over to the new scottish armed forces. hypochondriac Posted 25 July, 2012 Share Posted 25 July, 2012 If the benders want to have a ceremony and call it marriage then fine. Forcing religious bodies to do it though is ridiculous.
FloridaMarlin Posted 25 July, 2012 Share Posted 25 July, 2012 Cue tasteless, inane and inappropriate jokes concerning Benjamin Doon and Philiip McCracken.
jawillwill Posted 25 July, 2012 Share Posted 25 July, 2012 Scott Parker and Scott Sinclair? I didn't even know they were gay.

Why call them the benders? That furthers your argument how exactly... And good, if Scotland do it, people in this country can see how when gay marriage is legalised, civilisation doesn't collapse. Because it shows that Hypo isnt gay and never has any homosexual thoughts or feelings. How else are you supposed to show some loose support support for gay marriage and for people to not think you're gay?

suewhistle Posted 25 July, 2012 Share Posted 25 July, 2012 If the benders want to have a ceremony and call it marriage then fine. Forcing religious bodies to do it though is ridiculous. "Benders"? How quaint, although I've always thought Hypo is on the internet too much to be vanilla, probably whacking off to pictures of young ladyboys, or lesbian twosomes. Haven't been on them for years, but it's amazing how many "straight" men go on dyke chat-rooms.:-)
Bearsy Posted 25 July, 2012 Share Posted 25 July, 2012 It's fine by me as long as they is not making it compulsory.

Turkish Posted 25 July, 2012 Share Posted 25 July, 2012 Scott Parker and Scott Sinclair? I didn't even know they were gay. Let's hope we pull out of the Scott Dann deal if he is one. We don't want him looking at Kelvins bum when he should be defending a corner.
hypochondriac Posted 25 July, 2012 Share Posted 25 July, 2012 If I had to guess who would reply to my original post, I probably would have guessed the two who did. Maybe Jillsaint as well but she may be on later.

In fact i'm all for hypocritical religions being forced to conduct gay marriage. Half the RC priests are gay or kiddy fidlders, and those that aren't cover up for those that are, so they have no moral standing to preach on this or any other subject. If it was down to me i'd make it illegal for them to refuse to marry gay couples and would find it funny as f/ck seeing them squeel about it.
