SO16_Saint Posted 25 July, 2012 Posted 25 July, 2012 Im running a sales meeting on Friday and want to do an ice breaker / team building session at the beginning.... anyone got any good ideas of ones you've done in the past? We know eachother fairly well - and there are about 8 of us.
Doctoroncall Posted 25 July, 2012 Posted 25 July, 2012 Are they all from the UK? Also, will they operate as a team after the meeting, i.e. they are working on a project with a deliverable or is it just that they are in the same department and it's a getting to know you/ networking exercise?
pap Posted 25 July, 2012 Posted 25 July, 2012 Stand at the front of the room and say the following. "It's a very difficult job and the only way we're going to get through it is if we all work together as a team. Now that means you do everything I say!"
Tokyo-Saint Posted 25 July, 2012 Posted 25 July, 2012 8 salesmen in a room? I want to help but some part of my brain keeps shouting "group suicide, GROUP SUICIDE". As soon as the voices calm down, I will post an idea.
Turkish Posted 25 July, 2012 Posted 25 July, 2012 For god sake dont do any of those cringeworthy stand up and introduce yourself type things. If you know each other well then why need an ice breaker? Just have 10-15 minutes where everyone has a chat over a coffee, take the p*ss out of the ones you know the best and then crack on. ice breakers are for mongs and yanks.

Supersubpuckett Posted 25 July, 2012 Posted 25 July, 2012 get everyone to write down something others might not know about them, put them in a pot and then try and guess who did what. play fetish and phobia - everyone writes down something they love doing and then something they hate and talks about it. Sounds shyte but is actually quite funny. or start the meeting by letting everyone have a good old moan about the company (being sales people they'll be good at this) for 30 mins - write it all down then put it away.
notnowcato Posted 25 July, 2012 Posted 25 July, 2012 Two lesbians, I'm just watching. Never thought I'd say this but I'd like to hear more from Tokyo..
Thedelldays Posted 25 July, 2012 Posted 25 July, 2012 play "Date, Sh@g or run like fuk" with each other
ecuk268 Posted 25 July, 2012 Posted 25 July, 2012 If you all know each other, stop ****ing about and do some bloody work.

If you know each other, it's one of the best ways to get everyone engaged.
Saint-scooby Posted 25 July, 2012 Posted 25 July, 2012 A few years ago I used to run/own an event company. Over the years we did loads and loads of events. The most popular by far was the scavange hunt 20 odd items all had to be collected in a set time. Just random stuff that you may not find that quickly. Or a Giant 4 lane Scalextix.
buctootim Posted 25 July, 2012 Posted 25 July, 2012 The most popular by far was the scavange hunt 20 odd items all had to be collected in a set time. Or a Giant 4 lane Scalextix. This. Anything that is fun and gets people enjoying spending time together and liking each other. Teams that like each other work better.
Gemmel Posted 25 July, 2012 Posted 25 July, 2012 This. Anything that is fun and gets people enjoying spending time together and liking each other. Teams that like each other work better. Sales teams don't need to like each other..... They are pitted against each other 99% of the time. You'll get more out of someone that wants to take the grin off of the "top" boys face that you will have them collecting seas shells together in the middle of the forest.

First place gets a new car, 2nd place gets a set of steak knives, 3rd place gets fired.
