Ajax Build Up, Match & Reactions Thread

Interesting. It's a pre-season friendly and it sometimes difficult to gauge things, but JWP looks the part. Wasn't sure if the initial formation/lack of ambition was a realistic assessment of how we could be up against it occasionally in the prem and needed to practise absorbing pressure, but we've changed it and improved things. Clyne looks useful, "Julie" doing some good things, Lambert (I agree) looks a bit heavy but we know how it takes him time to get fit.

Who knows what will happen in the second half, but it does suggest we're better than Celtic - perhaps that's not saying much...

Why take Guly off? Christ, even when he plays well he isn't given a chance.

like i said he isn't a winger and to make this formation more effective you need proper wingers. Nothing about his performance, he's done well (thats good coming from me) but we should try proper wingers, it's a friendly after all we need to test things.

you don't need wingers ffs...it is clearly to play 3 up front when attacking with the full back trying to provide some width

guly has been very good IMO

He's been given plenty of time on the ball (which he needs). If it'd had been a competitive match his lack of quick thinking would have stood out like a sore thumb.

Would you ever praise him?

what ever adkins said around the 20 min marked..it worked..we were bossing the game with ease until they scored...again, just missed that final ball...got in the positions though

clyne

lallana

JWP

Guly

very good

we certainly need a CB...fonte gave his usual 1 howler for the game

also, when he miss judges the ball, he and joe are very slow to get back into position. definitely need a touch of pace in the CB area
