Saint_Mabes Posted 27 July, 2012 Posted 27 July, 2012 anyone know of any pubs showing the game? I know the Gordon Arms in Portswood is
Saint Martini Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 Ajax coach Frank de Boer has said that Ajax will start in the line-up he has planned for the Dutch Charity Shield. Looking forward to this match even more now. Link
Saint Fan CaM Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 Wake up and smell the coffee time? Or is it a case of "we're gonna storm the Prem"? Mmm, if they put out a full-strength team (unlikely) I think it's the former. I suspect though we'll actually give them a good game and come away thinking things are looking OK. I hope we get to see Davis, Rodrigues, Clyne and Gazza. I think the club missed a trick not revealing a new signing at the game though - might have got some of the plastics along.
tpbury Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 There is a stream request thread on the overseas Saints page. I don't think C5 are streaming it (although I know they are broadcasting it). So, any streams you're aware of?
Saint Garrett Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 There is a stream request thread on the overseas Saints page. I don't think C5 are streaming it (although I know they are broadcasting it). So, any streams you're aware of? http://www.thefirstrow.eu/watch/132572/1/watch-southampton-fc-vs-ajax.html Also would have thought Channel 5 will have it available to watch. If not then on here http://www.tvcatchup.com/channels.html
Saint Martini Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 Ajax Line-up: Vermeer; Van Rhijn, Alderweireld, Blind, Dijks; Anita, Jong, Janssen; Özbiliz, Sigthorsson, Boerrigter/Fischer
Saint Garrett Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 Ajax Line-up: Vermeer; Van Rhijn, Alderweireld, Blind, Dijks; Anita, Jong, Janssen; Özbiliz, Sigthorsson, Boerrigter/Fischer I think I've only heard of Anita, Alderweireld and Jong.
doubleonothing Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 Just set the reminder on the TV to automatically switch over. Seems quote weird to see us being in the Channel 5 section of the TV guide (let alone on domestic TV) Looking forward to this a lot now.
supersonic Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 Ajax Line-up: Vermeer; Van Rhijn, Alderweireld, Blind, Dijks; Anita, Jong, Janssen; Özbiliz, Sigthorsson, Boerrigter/Fischer We'll beat that team
Saint Martini Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 I think I've only heard of Anita, Alderweireld and Jong. Its a very young team (I think the only players over 23 are Vermeer and Janssen) but very talented. Ajax are weakest at LB and CB (left side). No Christian Eriksen? Eriksen and vd Wiel only started training this week after the EURO's so I guess they're not really match-fit. I would think they get some playing time in the second half. We'll beat that team I wouldn't be too sure, I have split loyalties with my favourite team in the Netherlands being Ajax but this wil be a close match. Even with this line-up for Ajax.
Whitey Grandad Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 Looking forward to this, need a footballing fix. Me too. I can't be there in person so I'm pleased about the coverage.
doubleonothing Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 Southampton FC @officialsaints VIDEO: The Match Day Show is now free to watch on our Youtube channel ahead of Saints v Ajax - #saintsfc Is it me or does the commentary on the games sound like the guy is sat in a toilet?
doubleonothing Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 Southampton FC @officialsaints Team news coming up… #saintsfc #ajax
doubleonothing Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 Southampton FC @officialsaints #SaintsFC starting XI vs #Ajax: Davis, Clyne, Fonte, Hooiveld, Fox, Schneiderlin, Ward-Prowse, Lallana, Guly, Rodriguez; Lambert.
doubleonothing Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 Southampton FC @officialsaints #SaintsFC substitutes vs #Ajax: Gazzaniga, Richardson, Stephens, Shaw, Chambers, Sharp, Hammond, Puncheon, Chaplow, Seaborne, De Ridder.
James Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 Good starting XI, bar JWP for Davis it's probably our strongest team at the moment. Looking forward to seeing Gazza, Shaw and Chambers off the bench.
Colinjb Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 Still no Stve Davis. Looking forward to seeing what Ward-Prowse can do.
Saintjersey Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 Still no Steven Davis, but JWP starting is encouraging.
James Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 JWP looks likely to start the Man City game I reckon given the amount of game time he's been given, that and the fact he always seems to be included in our 'strongest' line ups.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 JWP looks likely to start the Man City game I reckon given the amount of game time he's been given, that and the fact he always seems to be included in our 'strongest' line ups. Perhaps, though the fact that Cork is with the Olympics and Davis is injured may have something to do with it.
Matthew Le God Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 JWP looks likely to start the Man City game I reckon given the amount of game time he's been given, that and the fact he always seems to be included in our 'strongest' line ups. He is filling the place of Steven Davis and Jack Cork at the moment in their absense. I think Davis will start the Man City game. Ward-Prowse does appear to be above Hammond and Chaplow in the pecking order though.
James Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 He is filling the place of Steven Davis at the moment. I think Davis will start the Man City game. Assuming Davis is fit of course, slightly worrying that even if he does regain full fitness he won't have had any game time with the team. If no Davis, WP to start I think.
aussiesaint20 Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 Any links for those of us overseas?? Was hoping Saints Player would have a radio feed of the match but that doesn't look likely..

If no Davis, WP to start I think. Davis is in training and we have 3 friendlies after today for him to play in. We also will have Jack Cork back from the Olympics. Team GB probably won't make the final so he could be back in time to be ready for Man City.

The Kraken Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 I know the Gordon Arms in Portswood is I may or may not be there watching
THEVMAN Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 Davis is still a fair bit of full fitness i would say you may see him play in the Bristol City game or Udinese.
DrunkenSaint Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 JWP looks likely to start the Man City game I reckon given the amount of game time he's been given, that and the fact he always seems to be included in our 'strongest' line ups. if that happens we'll get slaughtered, u need to pack the midfield to stop man city from playing the 451 formation would suit us alot better as we have a strong centre midfield in Morgan, Cork and either Davis/JWP, we should of played something similar today unless Jrod is playing out wide left but then i fear Guly being on the right where isn't that good there. But lets see what happens..coyr.

ThreeSixty Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 Far more excited for this game than i have any right to be.
doubleonothing Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 Southampton FC @officialsaints #Ajax starting XI vs #SaintsFC: Vermeer, Alderweireld, Anita, Sigthorsson, De Jong, Janssen, Blind, Boerrigter, Ozbiliz, Van Rhijn, Dijks. Southampton FC @officialsaints #Ajax substitutes vs #SaintsFC: Cillessen, Klaassen, Serero, Koppers, Lukoki, Ligeon, Fischer.
VectisSaint Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 Would like to know how far off playing Chung is. He was training in France, but maybe not ball work.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 How does that Ajax team compare with the one that thrashed Celtic the other day?
Saint Garrett Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 How does that Ajax team compare with the one that thrashed Celtic the other day? VS CELTIC AJAX: Vermeer, van Rhijn, Alderweireld, Blind, Dijks, de Jong, Anita, Lukoki, Serero, Fischer, Sigthorsson Subs: Ebecilio, Klaassen, Schone, Ozbiliz, Koppers, Ligeon, Veltman, Denswil, Cillessen
boxosponge Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 The crowd looks abysmal. Do I feel embarrassed by watching on TV? No I don't. Its the simple result of the costs involved.
Griffo Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 It appears we're playing 4-3-3 according to Channel 5. Looking forward to this myself, haven't seen Saints play since the Coventry game I think.
Alwightmush Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 http://www.filmon.com/#Channel-5 Another option for anyone struggling to get C5.
dune Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 The crowd looks abysmal. Do I feel embarrassed by watching on TV? No I don't. Its the simple result of the costs involved. Just showed 5 fat blokes in replica shirts scoffing food.
doubleonothing Posted 28 July, 2012 Posted 28 July, 2012 Noticed Shaw and Stephens with shirt numbers 3 & 8 respectivly. Temporary?
