PaulGilchrist_76 Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 I would have to go with 'Killer' I suppose.
SaintRobbie Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 Killer. I still maintain that we may have survived in the Premiership (RL excepted) had he stayed fit.
Saint Without a Halo Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 Any two from Killer, Dave Watson Mark Wright and Chris Nicholls
skintsaint Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 Dean Richards would be another one. Was class for us... Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
sambosa75 Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 Would have to go for Deano. Probably the most complete defender we've had in the last 20 years.
dubai_phil Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 As per the OP - "Fit into this team" as opposed to "Best CH we had"then it totally has to be Mark Wright. Cultured and relaxed on the ball, completely suited to the retain possession style we now have. Russell Osman HOOOOOF Good CB but FFS the entire Milton End every match ball to Osman HOOOF
egg Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 Mark Wright is the best footballer I've seen play there for us, so him.
Turkish Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 Isn't this just a thread about who is the best centre half youve seen play for Saints? In terms of best fit the current team Russell Osmans film star looks and profile would best fit the clubs image of a successful, slick outfit on the up.
mesaint Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 Not one mention for Claus yet? I'd play Claus along side Jos. He read the game well & always covered others mistakes. Jos is happy to attack the ball in the air leaving Claus to cover.
Mustapha Fag Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 John McGrath, lets take no prisoners lol Seriously though as said above Mark Wright stood out as the class act, good defender and superb on the ball
Saint Martini Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 Not one mention for Claus yet? I'd play Claus along side Jos. He read the game well & always covered others mistakes. Jos is happy to attack the ball in the air leaving Claus to cover. Agree, and Claus was a better passer of the ball then his best partner (Killer).
sammysaint Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 Dean Richards Claus and Svensson have been the best 3 CBs in my time watching/supporting i would have one of them 3 with fonte, but to be honest at the time Richards was young and getting better and better, he would of the sort of CB we would be signing now.
Hatch Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 Manny Andrers.. Andrewsskk.... Andruszel...Andzrewskk... Mark Wright.
Brussels Saint Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 Killer is too similar to Jos IMO, so as most have mentioned the best fit would be Mark Wright first and probably Claus 2nd.
Miltonaggro Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 Mark Wright, cultured, composed with a bit of steel. The centre half that Alan Hansen could have been (if he was as good)...
Foxstone Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 Deano by a country mile IMO... Pace, Power and Positioning in abundance and I cannot recall him getting turned over at all for us.
Norm Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 I have given this a lot of thought and the CH at the top of my list is, John McGrath. Know for his cultured skilll, composed control and his ability to link well with the forwards.
Dimond Geezer Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 Mark Wright, he just oozed class & unflapability.
Foxstone Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 I have given this a lot of thought and the CH at the top of my list is, John McGrath. Know for his cultured skilll, composed control and his ability to link well with the forwards. Though will not pass !!
Victor Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 Any two from Killer, Dave Watson Mark Wright and Chris Nicholls Is that the Chris Nicholls who was a friend of Kelvin Davies?
fatpix2003 Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 Without a shadow of a doubt Dean Richards, absolute class defender R.I.P.
stinhk Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 I wonder which type of cb is the best fit. If it's a "footballing" cb then I too would go for Mark Wright, if it's a "stopper" perhaps Dave Watson.
Badger Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 I have given this a lot of thought and the CH at the top of my list is, John McGrath. Know for his cultured skilll, composed control and his ability to link well with the forwards. John McGrath , one of my all time legends. As for "linking with the forwards" , is this a reference to going on the p!ss with Big Ron ?
SuperSAINT Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 Dean Richards from my recent memory. Had a great mix of pace & aerial power.
Norm Posted 25 July, 2012 Posted 25 July, 2012 John McGrath , one of my all time legends. As for "linking with the forwards" , is this a reference to going on the p!ss with Big Ron ? Ah Badger, you saw right through my 'tongue in cheek' post!
