VectisSaint Posted 22 August, 2012 Share Posted 22 August, 2012 My point really was why this was felt worthy of a report by a hack in a red top rag. Will he likewise report when WetSham and Reading fail to fill the away sections of Etihad, Old Trafford and Emirates, or when Wigan fail to take their allocation at SMS? Did Wet Sham or Reading sell out their first matches back in the PL? Frankly I think a lot of people will see this season a drop in attendances for many and varied reasons, not just cost. I just feel it is a bit odd to pick on Saints, as if we should have been greatful to Man City for providing us with the opportunity to come and watch their superstars struggle to beat us 3-2. Lord Duckhunter Posted 22 August, 2012 Share Posted 22 August, 2012 I normally Like Mick Dennis he's one of the better hack's that prositute themselves round various media outlets, so this dig surprised me. He is a Norwich supporter and their S/T sales and home support is impressive. I'm not sure what their numbers were for their first game back, but it seems a strange point to make. He is pretty good regarding the lower leagues, so would have known all about our support. perhaps he was just taken back a bit that we didn't sell out. View From The Top Posted 22 August, 2012 Share Posted 22 August, 2012 Not really. I had a fair few messages from mates saying that they couldn't believe we hadn't sold out. Despite the amount of time I spend having a pop at our support, even I was surprised by just how many empty seats there were in the lower tier. Was a very poor effort. Also, I don't buy the £100 day out argument as the main reason for putting people off. Our support North of London has traditionally always been poor. We'll sell out Arsenal in minutes and plenty of people will spend around the £100 mark on a day out in London. The fact is, people couldn't be bothered to travel to Manchester, which is a shame for them. You live in LaLa land. I know plenty who weren't going to spunk £100 on a game that was on TV. A) It's not worth it. B) Can't justify it. If it hadn't been for Arsenal being so close I reckon you could have knocked another 500+ off.
VectisSaint Posted 23 August, 2012 Share Posted 23 August, 2012 Were there any empty seats in the away end at The Bridge last night?
