Saint-Armstrong Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2858210,00.html "As the start of the 2012/13 Premier League season fast approaches, Saints would like to make the following announcement regarding the purchasing and distribution of match tickets. The Club is putting in place a points based loyalty scheme to ensure that tickets for the higher demand games, both home and away, are distributed in a fair and equitable manner. Away matches will be categorised on a like for like basis to our home fixtures. Category A games earn 10 points, Category B games 15 points and Category C games 20 points. The points earned for attending Cup matches will be announced when ticketing arrangements for these games are finalised with the respective clubs. Season Ticket Holders will automatically earn points according to the advertised match categories for home games as soon as tickets for the match go on sale. A Season Ticket Holder will therefore automatically earn 295 points across the season (50 for 5 x Cat A, 105 for 7 x Cat B and 140 for 7 x Cat C ) During the season, the Club will announce the priority booking arrangements for Season Ticket Holders and supporters who hold a specific number of points for matches where demand for tickets will exceed the number on sale. The way in which tickets are normally purchased is unaffected by this scheme and please make sure that when buying tickets for all games, either home and away, you do so under your individual Client ID number. Details of how to check your points balance will be announced shortly. As highlighted in our original Season Ticket announcement, there will be a priority sales period for Season Ticket Holders, and anyone attending the opening match of the season will receive 10 Loyalty Points in their account. Full ticket details for the opening Premier League Fixtures versus Manchester City (away), Wigan (home), Manchester Utd (home) and Arsenal (away) will be announced shortly. Please check http://www.saintsfc.co.uk for full details."
Sour Mash Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Does the non-season ticket holder's points kick in when they buy the home ticket or once they have attended the game?
Tokyo-Saint Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Where are the friends of season ticket holders? They can't go from top priority to nowhere can they?
bowers-sfc Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 So, do new season tickets get the same priority as last seasons ticket holders?
Griffo Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 You can be sure the points system will somehow f*ck up and not register some games for people etc.
ladysaint Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 What happens when you buy away tickets for a group of season ticket holders which I normally do I presume that I will have to just trust the TO that they enter everyone's customer number so that they have the points allocated to their own account.
Orange Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Sounds alright. But my moan would be that i'd say away games should be worth (a little) more than home games? I wasn't expecting them to, but i think i'm right in saying thats what clubs like Spurs do.
LGTL Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 More questions than answers from that little release. Oh well guess we will find out. I fully expect it to not work properly though.
The9 Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 What happens when you buy away tickets for a group of season ticket holders which I normally do I presume that I will have to just trust the TO that they enter everyone's customer number so that they have the points allocated to their own account. I THINK the idea is that all of this is now based on the new client number not the old customer number, but God knows how they'll do this even with everyone being linked on the online accounts. History suggests massive fcvk-ups all around, we can but hope that the club miraculously starts giving a crap about their customers buying tickets to other clubs' home matches.
teamsaint Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 So is the priority period for season ticket holders for all matches? Do they get first go at spare tickets for home league matches?
MadDogMatt Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 But will previous away loyalty eg from last season c/f? I think it should but have my doubts .....
The9 Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 But will previous away loyalty eg from last season c/f? I think it should but have my doubts ..... No, as they haven't mentioned it at all in the article, which makes it pretty clear it won't.
Dan Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Credit where credit is due I think they have done well here.
70's Mike Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 What happens when you buy away tickets for a group of season ticket holders which I normally do I presume that I will have to just trust the TO that they enter everyone's customer number so that they have the points allocated to their own account. key point for me when i renewed mine and 2 lads all were under the 23 year old, glad i got it changed but can see me having lots of points and 2 lads stuck on 295
Turkish Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 I much prefered the old days when they just stamped the voucher they gave you.
Saint Garrett Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Sounds alright. But my moan would be that i'd say away games should be worth (a little) more than home games? I wasn't expecting them to, but i think i'm right in saying thats what clubs like Spurs do. The problem for the club with this is that they don't make any money out of away tickets, so they'll want to encourage people to go to home games...but no doubt the ticket system will be a bit dodgy at times. This is a bit annoying thouhgh, as I am sharing my ST with someone else, so does that mean that they won't have any priorities but I will?
Crazy Diamond Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 I much prefered the old days when they just stamped the voucher they gave you. You can't have it both ways Turkish. Fancy new turnstiles and loyalty systems that appeal to players and make them sign up, or old style stuff to get Jermaine Wright types in.
Ewell Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 I am not a season ticket holder but on the face of it that seems quite fair and I cannot see why anyone would have an argument with it. Mark my words there will be teething troubles that’s for sure!
up and away Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 I think there are two aspects worth considering, the monetary gain you provide to the club and the support you give it. For the monetary side that would be simple, a system based upon how much profit your expenditure brings to the club, rewarded by upgrades to the suites, club functions and store. For support that would be based upon games attended with an add on for season ticket holders. Season ticket holders would get 5 preferences on away games and 5 preferences for extra tickets per season. With an automatic first right to their seat at home cup games. All other allocations would be simply upon games attended, irrespective of season ticket holder or not.
Saint137 Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 So is the priority period for season ticket holders for all matches? Do they get first go at spare tickets for home league matches? That's how I read it. So as a season ticket holder I'll be able to buy tickets for the prawn sandwich brigade, I'm sure many will exploit this.
LGTL Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Is that priority period for STH not just for away games?
teamsaint Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 That's how I read it. So as a season ticket holder I'll be able to buy tickets for the prawn sandwich brigade, I'm sure many will exploit this. If that is the case a lot of people who have supported the club for a long time, will be mightily p****ed off. There is no good case at all for this, if in fact this is how it will operate. Although the club don't seem to care how the fans feel. Spoke to a manure fan to day who was amazed (in a bad way)at our new kit.
Kingsland Nick Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Seems that non-STH's may have to decide between: (a) getting a ticket from a STH, but missing out on loyalty points, and (b) waiting for tickets to go on general sale, and risk missing out as they've all been sold to STH's.
Saint Garrett Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 I've only got a ST this year to give me some kind of chance to get away tickets, never had a problem in previous seasons, especially the last 7!
ladysaint Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 For arsenal away then will priority be given to those who travelled away most last season or will they base it on sts who have purchased tickets for Man city away. Arsenal away will be over subscribed as new ground for Saints.
LGTL Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 For arsenal away then will priority be given to those who travelled away most last season or will they base it on sts who have purchased tickets for Man city away. Saint137 Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 What's the away allocation at the Emirates? I'm guessing we might struggle to fill it, particularly at Arsenal prices.
ladysaint Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 (edited) We should get about 3,5k and will sell out easily tickets are a reasonable 25.50 I think we are a category c game. Edited 23 July, 2012 by ladysaint
Neil Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Arsenal away is gonna be the first big tickets row I suspect, fancy some of the people who went to Hartlepool etc in the last few years will miss out...
RobM Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Arsenal away is gonna be the first big tickets row I suspect, fancy some of the people who went to Hartlepool etc in the last few years will miss out... Only if they aren't quick enough. First come, first served is a pretty simple rule to understand.
dune Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 (edited) This suits me fine because I actually prefer the less glamorous away games so i'll be earning extra points from less games. All in all a good system. Edited 23 July, 2012 by dune
Chez Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 decent system, glad money spent on shirts etc. doesn't go towards loyalty. Will previous history be used at all?
Saint Garrett Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Hoping previous history will be used but don't think it will be. I have my plans on which aways I want to do this season, but don't think I am going to be able to afford all the ones which I want to go to. Would have gone to Man City, but with it being moved to Sunday, it means I'll have to take the day off work on the Monday. Not ideal whatsoever. Think Arsenal will be my first awaythis season, however quite happy with the less glamourous aways earning more points, as I'll just go to whatever when I'm available.
The9 Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 I'm basically only going to go to Man City to ensure I get a ticket for Arsenal...
Jonnyboy Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 So if I dont earn over 300 points in the season will I be labelled a plastic fan?
View From The Top Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 I'm basically only going to go to Man City to ensure I get a ticket for Arsenal... I may buy a City ticket, not bother going, just so I can get Arsenal tickets as the train is already booked for that & along with Wigan & Swansea are my only "must do" games this season.
JackanorySFC Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 All those going on about last season and potential points need to let it go. Its boring and you have absolutely zero chance of that happening due to investment into new ticketing system, and even if te club hadn't I think a clean slate should apply at the start of each season anyway. I'm a ST holder thats doing Citeh which means I'll be at the front of the queue for the £26 Arsenal tickets. Touch. Credit where it's due, good fair decision by the club, if I miss out on big away games later in the season it will be to a Saints fan that has travelled to more games than me, anyone that thinks that's unfair is shot away...
richie Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Guys if we stay up and do a few seasons in the prem the novelty will wear off and we wont need loyalty points. If we're struggling next season I dont see a problem for non STH (thats me) in getting tickets for away games especially up north for games outside of the top 4/5. Kinda makes me miss the champ and L1!!!
CB Saint Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 So if I dont earn over 300 points in the season will I be labelled a plastic fan? Good point, we finally have a proper system to measure our plasticness. At what point level does everyone think that plasticness ends and überness begin?
Thedelldays Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 If that is the case a lot of people who have supported the club for a long time, will be mightily p****ed off. There is no good case at all for this, if in fact this is how it will operate. Although the club don't seem to care how the fans feel. Spoke to a manure fan to day who was amazed (in a bad way)at our new kit. I'm guessing you are more of a fair weather fan that has now realised it is that much harder to get tickets? Did you tell your man u mate that their home kit is hideous beyond belief?
teamsaint Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 I'm guessing you are more of a fair weather fan that has now realised it is that much harder to get tickets? Did you tell your man u mate that their home kit is hideous beyond belief? 1.It is irrelevant what the man u fan thought about the man u kit, though in fact he really hates it. I really don't like our new home kit either. 2. I really don't know what your definition of a fair weather fan is. Is more than 40 years, most home games good enough? All through the last 7 years? had a Season ticket for around half of that those 40 years ? I won't go on. but if we had more "fair weather fans like me we really WOULD need that huge stadium expansion !! In the time I was a ST holder , I always felt that non ST holders should have first go at available tickets for home league games, to those genuine, loyal fans who could,'t or wouldn't buy a ST. that avoids real plastics using their mates STs to jump the queue for the odd game they fancy. the old membership scheme worked pretty well in that regard. I hope this new system rewards people properly for their loyalty, especially those, for instance, who live up north, and find it hard to get to home games. The real fair weather fans are those who deserted 7 years ago, and there are plenty, and who have the last 7 years to save up for their PL ST.
Sour Mash Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 I'd hope the club use last year's information for allocation of Arsenal tickets, fairest way at this stage of the season.
alpine_saint Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 Are we really expecting to sell-out all our home games ???
WHITEE1987 Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 BASTARDS!! I had 675 points when i renewed my season ticket which now seem to have disappeared. Points should also be allocated depending on the area you sit i reckon. The more expensive the seat the more points you get!!
stevegrant Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 BASTARDS!! I had 675 points when i renewed my season ticket which now seem to have disappeared. Yeah it originally looked as though they were going to do it on a very simple "one point per pound spent" basis. The way they are going to do it now, based on getting more points for going to the less attractive games, makes a lot of sense, but I'd still expect loads of problems with points not being allocated when bought in a group, etc.
once_bitterne Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 Are we really expecting to sell-out all our home games ??? The first few then when the novelty wares off by Winter anyone who wants a ticket will be able to get one. Do you know how many Loyalty Points you get for listening to games on the radio in your underpants Alps?
This Charming Man Posted 24 July, 2012 Posted 24 July, 2012 They need to use last seasons away games attended in order to allocate tickets for Arsenal. Though if they don't it should hopefully boost our sales for Man City away.
