St.Patrik Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Hmmm interesting - this bloke Nixon mentioned on Twitter last night then?
Glasgow_Saint Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 This could be complete b0llocks? >> http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/19122011/58/premier-league-dann-ruptured-testicle.html
Glasgow_Saint Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Another OUCH!! £6m!?!? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2143170/West-Ham-want-Blackburns-Scott-Dann.html
Glasgow_Saint Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Todays thread titles are sponsored by Bearsy! Could you pay a little more a arrange for his name to be spelt correctly?

Colinjb Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Scott dann .. hmmm. Not sure how I feel about this one.
Raging Bull Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Last time I watched him at the back end of last season he was being skinned every single time & on 1 occasion he purposefully had a massive hack at his opo just outside the area. Relegation seems to follow him and his partnership at Brum was supposed to be a good 1 too!
austsaint Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Some Blackburn and Brum fans on various forums do not seem to rate this lad. Can anyone who's seen him play on a regular basis make a case for him? Curtis Davies appeals strongly for equivalent money.
MrMojoRisin Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 NO NO NO We do not want him, Fonte and Jos are better than him plus he has been relegated in the last two seasons. Start making some quality signings or we are going to struggle all season.

Professor Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Dann would probably be happy to come here now the team is playing in Liverpool shirts but the risk iks that he's found his level at Championship, not Prem. Surely SFC can do better and if Wet Spam want to spend a big slice of their transfer budget on him, that should suit the rest of us.
Redondo Saint Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Ron Vlaar not headed to Villa...... Similar fee but maybe more wages.
jawillwill Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Don't know how reliable this is, but just seen this on Twitter: Deppo@DeppoInExile My contacts within #saintsfc are telling me that Scott Dann is due at St Marys for talks about a possible move. You heard it here first. Having looked through a few of his/her previous tweets, they've been spot on about the last few signings. Could just be another wannabe ITKer though.

Yeah Fonte looked really solid at the top end of the championship and wasn't getting outmuscled and outpaced on a regular basis ?
Nigel=God-Poyet=Sod Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Ron Vlaar not headed to Villa...... Similar fee but maybe more wages. We should make a move for him, looks a better player.

Saint Martini Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Ron Vlaar not headed to Villa...... Similar fee but maybe more wages. As much as I hate Feyenoord this is a very good option (maybe this a good plan, buy Feyenoords player for a low fee). His wage demands will never be as high as a player that has Premier League experience. Wages in the Netherlands are a lot lower then even most Championship teams (if you exclude Ajax & PSV) and Feyenoord doesn't pay that much either because of their economic difficulties the last 5/6 years. He's not expensive to buy according to the technical director at Feyenoord (not sure why, perhaps a clause in the contract). I'm not sure if he would be interested in joining Saints though. Its always considered a risk for players to join teams that have just been promoted, especially if they want to remain in contention for the Dutch national team.
beavis17 Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Ron Vlaar not headed to Villa...... Similar fee but maybe more wages. Yes please.
Giordano Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Hmmm....ex team mate of Danny Fox at Coventry, hmmmmm......ex England under 21 International, hmmmmm 25 years old,.....hmmmm 6ft 2"..........a young english premier league experienced centre back....hmmm....not yet really won anything so has a point to prove, ex captain of his club,...I have the clues and I'm sure there is a pattern emerging here but i dont know what it means... :-)

Giordano Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 You are correct. I knew i was looking at this all wrong..:-). But he is not a serial team "winner" looking at his history to be fair so far despite observers praising him as an individual player.
Saint Garrett Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 I think it's more of a 'he was rated highly a few years ago, but since he has been relegated twice so will want to prove that he is good enough for the prem'. Despite it being a negative that he has been relegated, you can see Adkins using this as motivation for the coming season.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Great players can get relegated! Just look at N****wo Christian Nwosu Kanu + O'Hara has been relegated twice and he's a good player
Foxstone Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Didn't he win the Carling cup with Brum ? Injured and missed the final I think...
Thedelldays Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 peter crouch got relegated...so did arry redknapp
Matthew Le God Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 To use the "he got relegated" line is a nonsense. Lallana, Schneiderlin and Davis were relegated to League One, should we get rid of them? Scott Parker was relegated with West Ham yet was voted the best player in the Premier League that season by football journalists. A player should be judged on his own merits, not solely on the performance of his team.

As it did with Blackburn who had more than enough quality to stay up if managed in the right way.
MOSaint Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Ok so if Scott Dann is not good enough then who should we be looking at?
S-Clarke Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 I don't care that he's been relegated. I care that he's spent the last year or two getting skinned every 5 minutes. Fonte might too, but I thought we'd be going for someone a bit better to be honest. Hope I'm wrong, or hope his recent form is just that, bad form and he'll return to earlier career ability. Bit harsh, I don't think he was that bad if I'm honest. He got caught by being 2 high up quite a few times, but that was more down to their tactics than anything. As a CB i see him more of a sweeper who is there to play alongside a more dominant CB who wins all the headers, Dann seems to be more of a ''reader'' and a positional centre half. He was rated highly at Birmingham, and even though they say he is quite slow, they all rated him much higher than Johnson.
Turkish Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Ok so if Scott Dann is not good enough then who should we be looking at? Apparantly a lot of people would rather have Curtis Davies, depsite the fact that he played in the championship for the last two seasons, is older and wasn't deemed good enough by Aston Villa. go figure.

Probably the same football know-it-alls that also rate Guly! Dell-size mentality - some of our fans will never recover

Wasn't he also kept out of the Brum team by Dann and Johnson? Or was he there at a different time?
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Would prefer to have Desperate Dan. Seen the guys a lot as friends with a big Blackburn fan and the guy is horrendous. Would be really, really worried if we bought him.
S-Clarke Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Would prefer to have Desperate Dan. Seen the guys a lot as friends with a big Blackburn fan and the guy is horrendous. No. Just because someone has been relegated doesn't make them bad, it makes the team they played in bad. Dann was decent when he played alongside Samba, then Blackburn fell apart

Christ, lucky we didn't sign him.
EBS1980 Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 RE: Ron Vlaar, didn't we have him on trail a few years ago but didn't sign him up?
Saint Garrett Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 RE: Ron Vlaar, didn't we have him on trail a few years ago but didn't sign him up? Don't think so? Surely we wouldnt have had him while outside teh prem ?
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 2 words - Jos Hoovield. Celtic fans said exactly the same. Some clubs just don't fit a player for whatever reason. Not really, cos I've based my opinion on me seeing him, not what other fans think.
Webby Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Glad to hear a CB is in talks but I do wonder if we could aim higher. I don't know who cos we don't look like prising a CB from another PL team; we haven't signed anyone else from a PL team, so we're clearly looking for promising, young players from other leagues and I don't know the European leagues enough to pick out players, although I thought kjaer (?) looked good in the euros.
Saint Garrett Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 (edited) Kjaer is absolutely class, no chance. Although....after a little google search, apparently they'd sell him for 6m euros...would be a bargain, but would haev thought he'd want to play in Europe. Edited 23 July, 2012 by Saint Garrett
Nigel=God-Poyet=Sod Posted 23 July, 2012 Posted 23 July, 2012 Kjaer is absolutely class, no chance. You say that but his current club don't want him. Why not make a move for him? No harm in trying.
