itchen_dan Posted 21 July, 2012 Posted 21 July, 2012 No Clyne then? Must've picked up an injury in training?
Saint Charlie Posted 21 July, 2012 Posted 21 July, 2012 No Clyne on bench, must be working on fitness. Gazzaniga set to play 2nd half.
Saint Thomas Posted 21 July, 2012 Posted 21 July, 2012 Stephens at CB again - guess he really has been converted to that full-time now. Would like to see how J-Rod and Lambert link up.
Matthew Le God Posted 21 July, 2012 Posted 21 July, 2012 No Clyne then? He hasn't had a proper pre-season like everyone else, so needs to catch up.
S-Clarke Posted 21 July, 2012 Posted 21 July, 2012 From how NA was talking when we signed Clyne, they didn't want to throew him in as they wanted to give him a full assessment to see where he was etc. Likley that this game just came a little too soon for him. Would expect him to be involved against Ajax though.
doubleonothing Posted 21 July, 2012 Author Posted 21 July, 2012 Southampton FC @officialsaints Updates may be intermittent due to connectivity issues at Stade Joseph-Moynat. Report, reaction and highlights at http://www.saintsfc.co.uk. Not paid their wi-fi bill as the supplier sent them 3 different e-mails and they didn't know how much it was....
buctootim Posted 21 July, 2012 Posted 21 July, 2012 Southampton FC @officialsaints Updates may be intermittent due to connectivity issues at Stade Joseph-Moynat. Report, reaction and highlights at http://www.saintsfc.co.uk. Not paid their wi-fi bill as the supplier sent them 3 different e-mails and they didn't know how much it was.... Lol. They should have just done what I did, pick the cheapest of the three and respond to that.
S-Clarke Posted 21 July, 2012 Posted 21 July, 2012 https://twitter.com/ETGblog FYI...a french based (english speaking) twitter feed giving regular updates.
doubleonothing Posted 21 July, 2012 Author Posted 21 July, 2012 Southampton FC @officialsaints We are underway here in Thonon-les-Bains for this tonight's game. Saints in their new home strip - Hooiveld is wearing the armband #saintsfc
doubleonothing Posted 21 July, 2012 Author Posted 21 July, 2012 Southampton FC @officialsaints First chance of the evening for Saints as Jason Puncheon does well down the right, but his dangerous looking cross is hooked away #saintsfc
suewhistle Posted 21 July, 2012 Posted 21 July, 2012 According to ETG's website, here are our line-ups: Davis' date=' Butterfield, Fox, Stephens, Hooiverd, Schneiderlin, Ward, Lallana, Plincheaon, Lambert, Rodriguez, Clyne. 2e mi-temps : Gazzaniga – Richardson, Fonte, Scarbone, Harding, Hammond, Charon, Chambers, Shaw, Do Prado, Sharp.[/quote']
VectisSaint Posted 21 July, 2012 Posted 21 July, 2012 (edited) Not bad that we can name 2 complete teams that both look quite good and still have De Ridder, Cork, Chung, Davis & Clyne not even involved. Yet we should still be looking f or 2 or 3 more players (GK, CB & MF). Not to mention that Barnard, Forte & Dickson have been left behind presumably as they are surplus to requirements. Edited 21 July, 2012 by VectisSaint
Matthew Le God Posted 21 July, 2012 Posted 21 July, 2012 Is De Ridder over there???? Yes, but has a slight hamstring strain.
Saint Charlie Posted 21 July, 2012 Posted 21 July, 2012 Is De Ridder over there???? Yes. He said he twinged his hammy vs Arsenal so sitting out the games.
Saint-Reece Posted 21 July, 2012 Posted 21 July, 2012 Is De Ridder over there???? Tweaked his hamstring in ML Cup (or Bear) apparently
Winchester Red Posted 21 July, 2012 Posted 21 July, 2012 According to ETG's website, here are our line-ups: ................ Scarbone......... Who's Scarbone - He sounds scary!
Crab Lungs Posted 21 July, 2012 Posted 21 July, 2012 Tweaked his hamstring in ML Cup (or Bear) apparently Ah ha, cheers.
BlakeySFC Posted 21 July, 2012 Posted 21 July, 2012 Anyone know why Clyne's not even in the squad? Gazzaniga is....?
Panda Posted 21 July, 2012 Posted 21 July, 2012 Anyone know why Clyne's not even in the squad? Gazzaniga is....? See above!
doubleonothing Posted 21 July, 2012 Author Posted 21 July, 2012 Southampton FC @officialsaints Fairly even contest so far, it's clear Evian are a step up in class from Carouge who we played on Wednesday but #saintsfc look dangerous
Matthew Le God Posted 21 July, 2012 Posted 21 July, 2012 Anyone know why Clyne's not even in the squad? Gazzaniga is....? Gazzaniga has had a proper start to pre-season at Gillingham, Clyne out of contract since 30th June hasn't so far and needs to catch up. Plus it is easier for a goalkeeper to be at the right level of fitness required.
doubleonothing Posted 21 July, 2012 Author Posted 21 July, 2012 Southampton FC @officialsaints First trademark free kick for Rickie Lambert of the season as he steps up from 20 yards, but his effort sails high over the bar. #saintsfc
doubleonothing Posted 21 July, 2012 Author Posted 21 July, 2012 Southampton FC @officialsaints First chance for Evian as Wass gets to the byline and crosses into the 6 yard box, but Jack Stephens does well to clear the danger #saintsfc
doubleonothing Posted 21 July, 2012 Author Posted 21 July, 2012 Southampton FC @officialsaints Great chance as Rodriguez rises highest in the box and forces a fantastic save from the Evian keeper. #saintsfc piling on the pressure now
doubleonothing Posted 21 July, 2012 Author Posted 21 July, 2012 Southampton FC @officialsaints Puncheon is next in the queue to have an effort on goal, and #saintsfc are getting closer to an opener as his shot cannons back off the bar
Thedelldays Posted 21 July, 2012 Posted 21 July, 2012 Puncheon sounds like he has been very good in pre season. I still think he has a part to play
doubleonothing Posted 21 July, 2012 Author Posted 21 July, 2012 Southampton FC @officialsaints GOAL! JASON PUNCHEON makes no mistake this time as he hits a fine shot low past the Evian keeper after good work from Schneiderlin #saintsfc
Thedelldays Posted 21 July, 2012 Posted 21 July, 2012 Southampton FC @officialsaints GOAL! JASON PUNCHEON makes no mistake this time as he hits a fine shot low past the Evian keeper after good work from Schneiderlin #saintsfc see
doubleonothing Posted 21 July, 2012 Author Posted 21 July, 2012 Southampton FC @officialsaints Half Time: Evian TG 0-1 Saints. Impressive first 45 mins from Nigel Adkins side as they lead through Jason Puncheon's fine strike #saintsfc
doubleonothing Posted 21 July, 2012 Author Posted 21 July, 2012 Southampton FC @officialsaints Eleven changes for #saintsfc at the break: 2nd half team as follows. . .
Asaint4ever Posted 21 July, 2012 Posted 21 July, 2012 I wonder if puncheon could become a 1st team player next year?
doubleonothing Posted 21 July, 2012 Author Posted 21 July, 2012 Southampton FC @officialsaints Saints 2nd half team Vs Evian TG: Gazzaniga. Richardson, Fonte, Seaborne, Harding. Hammond, Chaplow, Chambers. Guly, Shaw. Sharp #saintsfc
Liquidshokk Posted 21 July, 2012 Posted 21 July, 2012 Has puncheon finally got enough game time to learn to get his shots down?! At least a couple of skyward shots every game. Good sign.
doubleonothing Posted 21 July, 2012 Author Posted 21 July, 2012 Southampton FC @officialsaints Early chance for #saintsfc in the second half as Luke Shaw bursts through and feeds Richard Chaplow, who forces a save from the Evian keeper
Saint Without a Halo Posted 21 July, 2012 Posted 21 July, 2012 Has puncheon finally got enough game time to learn to get his shots down?! At least a couple of skyward shots every game. Good sign. At least he is midfielder that shoots! we havn't had too many of them given our centre backs out score our midfield
doubleonothing Posted 21 July, 2012 Author Posted 21 July, 2012 Southampton FC @officialsaints The attendance at the Stade Joseph-Moynat this evening is 828. #saintsfc
doubleonothing Posted 21 July, 2012 Author Posted 21 July, 2012 Southampton FC @officialsaints Wass fails to take advantage of a rare Evian chance as he fires wide from the edge of area. 2nd half notably quieter than the 1st #saintsfc
S-Clarke Posted 21 July, 2012 Posted 21 July, 2012 As a marker for next week, Ajax are currently thrashing Celtic 4-0.
doubleonothing Posted 21 July, 2012 Author Posted 21 July, 2012 Southampton FC @officialsaints Substitution for Saints: Nathaniel Clyne comes on to replace Luke Shaw #saintsfc
suewhistle Posted 21 July, 2012 Posted 21 July, 2012 Have to assume that's an injury to Shaw. Or perhaps they tested his wee at half-time...
yorkie Posted 21 July, 2012 Posted 21 July, 2012 Have to assume that's an injury to Shaw. Not necessarily - two games in a week he's only a nipper. No need to over do it too soon - it's a long old season!
