I couldn't agree more. If that prat Pearce doesnt pick him when the Olympics start then no way is he going to be as fit as the rest of the players.

Sooner they get knocked out the better IMHO.

Actually may have the reverse effect in hindsight. JC will see the difference between the TGB rubbish coaching & style and the way we are set up to play and may re-inforce that message to keep possession better

The gulf in class was painfully clear there. Think Cork did pretty well when he come on though. Clearly wasn't asked to do too much going forward but he kept the ball well unlike some of his team mates.

Cork played well. Kept the ball and passed to a player on his own side. A novel concept after the Euros.

I thought Cork did well in the middle of the park, saw a lot of the ball and didn't give it away. I did fall asleep for 20 mins though!

Agree,quality player but you feel like he sometimes needs a pin up his backside just to inject abit more pace to his game

I felt he was playing within himself too, but that may reflect the role he was asked to play. It looked to me as if he had been encouraged to sit back and not push forward. I also felt that the way that Pearce had the side set up meant that the players were too close to each other meaning that Cork did not have much more to do than some short passes. That having been said he made a couple of telling passes including one out wide which nearly led to a goal.

I disagree - when he and Scott Sinclair came on to central midfield GB stopped giving the ball away unnecessarily (something England failed to achieve) and allowed the fullbacks to get forward more. GB were not as good as Brazil - not many are - but I felt that the second half performance was quite encouraging and young Cork played his part in it.

Thought Cork had a very accomplished game and made some great challenges - one was superb (on Lucas Moura I think) but was given as a foul for some reason....

Exactly. Wasn't massively impressed by GB's perform, not a huge Dan of Pearce's coaching ability and would rather he was with our squad in France, but let's not pretend playing against a team like that Brazil side isn't good prep for facing the likes of Man City and is certainly a better run out than facing a 2nd division swiss team.

It really should come as no surprise to us that Jack Cork can play a bit - last season proved the point to anyone who was paying attention I would have thought. Yes Brazil are "different class" to the likes of Doncaster Rovers or Coventry City (to put it mildly!) but if you have a good football head on your shoulders - as this lad certainly has - then you won't look out of place in almost any company.

 

Corky will do alright this season I reckon.

You may be right, but as I must admit to not following Scottish football all that closely (I avoid it like the plague in all honesty) I don't feel I have any grounds to believe that Steven Davis is significantly better than Jack Cork right now - time will tell I suppose.

 

In any case Cork would be a good option to have on the bench at the very least.

Cork looked one of TGB's best players I thought. If he's not selected for a start then Pearce is a bigger d1ck than I originally thought.

 

I think Cork and Schneiderlin are similar players whereas Davis is more attack minded I believe, so I reckon we'll see Davis and one of Cork or Schneiderlin depending on fitness levels and results. On last nights showing, I wouldn't be surprised to see Cork ahead of Schneiderlin to be honest.

Jack played well last night after a disappointing first half by GB. Agree with points above regarding keeping the ball, which a lot of his team mates could not do in the first half. It was a slow boring game though from GB perspective.

I agree with THEVMAN. Pearce seems to have no idea how to blend a team. He makes the same old mistake of picking names and sticking them where he wants. We showed nothing up front and the back four were poor. Butland looked a class act.
