Saints interested in Lens apparently?

There were rumours of Jarvis earlier, that seems to have gone quiet but I think he would be a risk free choice, can play on both flanks and is a proven Premier player. Plus he's English and young still.

But he doesn't solve the problem of our lack of pace.

And Wolves want upwars of £10m, which is why that has gone quiet.

Lens will be cheaper, young, quicker and more talented.

Because Wolves don't want to sell him & Stoke amongst others won't pay over £6m.

It's a waiting game.

I thought it might be useful to compare Lens' videos with the video of another hyped player from Holland, but who went on to fail in the Premier League:

"Ryan Babel Liverpool's New Signing"

To me Lens looks much quicker with his skills so I'm quite optimistic that he could cut it

Babel didn't fail in the Premier League! He was half decemt at a big club. He'd be a star in a low to mid table side.

That must have hiked his price up a bit

That must mean billy sharp is now worth 4m yeah?

One good game does not make a player. I'm sure he's had other good games of course which is why he's valued as he is, but one more good game should not make a difference.

He's definitely worth an extra 50 euros after that performance

Wishful thinking on here. There is no evidence that we have gone in with an improved, second bid (assuming the initial story was correct).

Tbh I think the better option would be to get Hoilett off Blackburn. It will be less than the £7.8M PSV want. He's got premier league experience and looked a stand out player in an extremely poor Blackburn team. Lens is also 2 years his senior. At the end of the day Lens may look good in the Dutch league but he's not raved about as much as players like Luuk De Jong. He may well be a massive flop. Just my two penneth.

Player of the Tournament Jeremain Lens: 'should we draw the line'

Replies to this message:

This lens should not leave. Not now Matavz not busy (even if you saw him walking around down in the background).

Nice football, lens has earned it! Do not sell this guy. We have a lot to this season.

Lens is always gives good interviews, respect that. He does well in the forefront, there is so much movement in our attack.

Most Valuable Player of the tournament: Lens! The competition was certainly level! There were a few tough footballers with it. PSV should just keep him! The bid of the English was a joke!

Of all the players we've signed or been seriously linked with, this one is most exciting. That's not a dis on the other players we've signed. I'm actually excited about the prospect of seeing Lens play with them.

In Sharp and Lambert, you've got players who'll create opportunities out of scrambles, deflections and half-chances. Right midfield has been an identified weakness from the start of the window. Lens looks capable of creating an insane amount of trouble for the opposition. Good fit for the berth, from all accounts.

I made this account only because i wanted to light you in about players in the eredivisie. I'm a PSV fan, and i'm also the maker of this video (which was posted before) :

Thats also how i came on this forum.

To say something about Lens. Lens is a fast player who's favorite and best possistion is Striker. but he also plays well on the wings, atleast, the right one. Lens will be, when he plays in the PL, one of the fastests players out there, ofcourse he isnt faster then Walcott, but he's really fast. There by is he really strong, and knows how to use his body. The only point he has to work on, to be a potential Man u/Real Madrid striker. Is finishing. This really is his weak point. for £7m you have him real cheap. But i don't know for shore if PSV wants to sell him, we just bought a player very simular to Lens (Narsingh), on the right wing, because we needed someone to let Matavz, a striker who IS a good finisher, excell better. At the end of last year, Lens won his position, because matavz didnt fit in well enough. But because we bought matavz for a lot of money, we do want him to be sellable. Normally this would lead to a sell of Lens. But Matavz didnt really helped being a our news trainer's favorite, by not following the trainingsscedual they where given and not scoring enough in pre-season. This makes it hard to get rid of Lens, because if Matavz isnt good enough after all, we dont have a good striker anymore. Thats the story a bit i think. The goal at 1:00 btw, was a european match against a "not dutch" club. the ball was inside the goal already BEFORE the keeper touched it. Just to clear that up. ;) If you have ANY questions about Lens, any other players in the eredivise, please ask. (btw, Lens should be good enough for a club like everton, if you can get him, you really have a top-player.)

I think alot of people on here need to take a chill pill and go and spend some time away from the screen and let whats going to happen happen.

Is this THEVMANS way of saying nothing imminent? I guess it is, so let's have a saintsweb free day tomorrow. You never know the economy may recover somewhat if we all did some work lol

Thank you very much for the post - always nice to see forigen fans coming on here.

For what it's worth I don't think we're looking for a ''finisher'' type, we're after someone who will create a bit of havoc and setup chances for our 5 strikers already here. Sounds to me that (if we get him) we want to deploy him on the right side of a front 3, allowing him to cut inside and join in with the strikers. Do you think this will suit his game?

Pleased that you mentioned his pace as this is something our current squad has been lacking, so it's pleasing to see we're after players with genuine pace. What interests me about this is that your club has, IMO, set a price on his head and I reckon we'll come in with what you want. I think it may depend on what Lens want's.

At PSV, he played most his games in a 4-3-3 system on the right side, but he is just far better as a striker, so he played a lot as a striker in the second half of the season, where he really was the best player at that moment (Not anymore btw, because we have Willems, Strootman, Van Bommel, Mertens (sorry for the cahill incident ^^)). So striker is his best position, but he's a great winger to. I think what will suit him well is a 4-4-2 as a striker. But im not shore, as PSV always plays 4-3-3.
