dannysfc Posted 17 July, 2012 Share Posted 17 July, 2012 Now that Bart has gone I am wondering to see who will be the next number 2 GK for Saints after Kelvin as I see that Tommy Forecast has been promoted to number 2 which I don't know what to make of tbh and that I am seeing if anyone has any ideas who can come in to replace Forecast/Bart!?! Thoughts!?! Thanks! COYR!!!

Saint86 Posted 17 July, 2012 Share Posted 17 July, 2012 Jason Steele, Kasper schmeichel Sign them both and we won't have to worry about a keeper for the next 10 years.
The9 Posted 17 July, 2012 Share Posted 17 July, 2012 We won't sign anyone as a back up to Kelvin. We'll sign someone with the ability to replace him. And possibly someone else with the ability to replace the person that replaces Kelvin. I'm still pretty keen on Courtois on loan from Chelsea myself... What I think the club want to do is stick with Davis from the start of the season, and develop the new guy(s) behind the scenes ready to be thrown into action whenever needed. Signing a keeper on loan just doesn't strike me as something we're looking to do.

Most likely, which is one of the reasons I'd like us to get him in before they get used to having him around. I suspect the successes at Atletico might have tipped them off a bit though. Dalek2003 Posted 18 July, 2012 Share Posted 18 July, 2012 I reckon Forepast will be our back up. We don't appear to be doing much on the transfer front. I suspect we our strategy is to get one season in the premiership, grab the premier money, and rebuild or even settle for a future in the NPC. Alternatively we may settle to be a yo yo team. Saint in Paradise Posted 18 July, 2012 Share Posted 18 July, 2012 IF Saints had wanted to be a yo-yo team they would have sacked NA and appointed a certain GH.
derry Posted 18 July, 2012 Share Posted 18 July, 2012 Top class all round keeper who can command the box, direct the defence and play quickly from the back. This is the Premier, £40m a year minimum, Cortese won't be sentimental. Big money signing every bit as important as an expensive striker. KD would be a decent back up and potential coach but too many weaknesses for No1.
Saint Garrett Posted 18 July, 2012 Share Posted 18 July, 2012 Wouldnt be surprised to see us sign Gordon/McGregor and then sign either of Butland or Gazzaniga as well and possibly let them stay at their clubs for a season.

Dr Who? Posted 18 July, 2012 Share Posted 18 July, 2012 I will opt for troll, but he will come out with the spill that he is just being realistic to what he has seen at the club so far. You do have to remember that he predicted 17th last season. I do not think anyone settles for a yoyo club. It may well happen to teams, but they do not set out to do so. They live/run within their means. Some clubs this will be yoyo, but there it is NO sure thing that you will come back up that easy. I do not think NC will settle for anything less than Premier League, but he will not break the bank either, so steady does it, and improve year on year. Aim this season to stay in the league, but I think he has big plans for our club.

Aim this season to stay in the league, but I think he has big plans for our club. Of course NC would like us to stay in the Premiership. However, realistically and rightly he is probably not prepared to put us in a situation of finanacila difficulty so IS prepared to allow us to be relegated as part of a strategy that gives us money for a qucik return. This strategy can be employed very successfully asn proven by WBA, a similar size club to SFC !. Anyway, I have stuck my head on the block. We are IMO going for the YO YO strategy ! VectisSaint Posted 18 July, 2012 Share Posted 18 July, 2012 Adkins is the backup keeper, better keeper than Tommy Four/Fivepast will ever be. I expect us to sign Buffon any day but only as back up to Kelvin. IANITK.

Saintandy666 Posted 18 July, 2012 Share Posted 18 July, 2012 We'll buy a keeper. I suspect it's a priority. The question is though, do you get in someone who is premier standard and proven who will come not to bench warm and so it'll be Kelvin demoted or do you get in some young and upcoming keeper to replace him gradually over the next year or two. I think it may be the former and I suspect by the end of the season we'll have a different number 1. Could be wrong mind.
