Miltonroader07 Posted 17 July, 2012 Share Posted 17 July, 2012 I wrote to Nicola Cortese a month or so agao asking why SFC could not name one of the stands in the ground after ML, I did expect a reply but so far ZERO What do folks think, is he keeping it under his hat for the start of the season or am I alone in thinking it would be a great idea. I certainly hope you're alone in thinking the great man's name is spelt like that!
S-Clarke Posted 17 July, 2012 Share Posted 17 July, 2012 They've spent a hell of a lot on the Markus Liebherr lounge, so I think that's ok for now. They're not going to rename a stand after tickets, and season tickets have gone on sale. If they're going to rename the stands it would have been done in May. Trader Posted 17 July, 2012 Share Posted 17 July, 2012 You're alone. Already rejected by Cortese.

Probably alone. He deserves a great deal more than a stand named after him. Not sure what, and doubt the family of NC will encourage it anyway. And not the best time to write to him...he's busy signing players...........
Manuel Posted 17 July, 2012 Share Posted 17 July, 2012 I've never been keen on naming stands after people, personally. I vote keep them as they are. The Liebherr lounge looks fine though.
Nigel=God-Poyet=Sod Posted 17 July, 2012 Share Posted 17 July, 2012 Great idea, shame you couldn't spell either the great man's first name or surname! Don't see it happening though.
Matthew Le God Posted 17 July, 2012 Share Posted 17 July, 2012 Calling the new main building at Staplewood the "Markus Liebherr Pavilion" would be a better idea imo.
CB Fry Posted 17 July, 2012 Share Posted 17 July, 2012 Nahh. Corny as hell. I think the stands have great names and really centre the stadium in the city. Naming stands after people is for other clubs to do.
Thedelldays Posted 17 July, 2012 Share Posted 17 July, 2012 we could have a memorial cup sort of thing.

Saint_clark Posted 17 July, 2012 Share Posted 17 July, 2012 As pedantic as it may seem, if he even received your correspondence - and you spelt "the great mans" name the same as you did in this thread - he probably felt a bit insulted by it. SaintBobby Posted 18 July, 2012 Share Posted 18 July, 2012 Shame the OP couldn't even spell his name correctly. This. Don't start a thread about how important it is to show huge respect for someone when you don't even know their name.
alpine_saint Posted 18 July, 2012 Share Posted 18 July, 2012 Generally speaking, does NC's office answer letters from the club's customers ? Pretty poor show if it doesnt.

Prince Jazzbo Posted 18 July, 2012 Share Posted 18 July, 2012 I was in Rhodes on holiday and I spotted a tractor that had been named after him.

egg Posted 18 July, 2012 Share Posted 18 July, 2012 I was in Rhodes on holiday and I spotted a tractor that had been named after him. Weird but so is my fridge and it's not even Greek. On topic though I don't like naming stands. If the family support was arranged as sponsorship, or similar, I wouldn't object to the family name attaching to our stadium. Legod Third Coming Posted 18 July, 2012 Share Posted 18 July, 2012 Years ago I wrote to Chris Nicholl telling him that I was 100% behind him and the team, despite all the doom and gloom at the time, and wanted him to carry on playing the same way. I received a personal letter from Nick Holmes thanking me for my continuing support and promising that the team were all united in their desire for success and in their wish to play good, attractive, attacking football. A few months back my mum found that letter and handed it to me. It's perhaps a sign of the times that such touches from club captains are rare these days. Easier to tweet 124 meaningless characters than spend a few minutes writing to a fan. Not a complaint, just an observation on life in 2012... Have you tried writing a letter to Adkins or one of the players to see if you get a reply? Worth a go, I reckon the lot we've got in now would respond.
