Crab Lungs Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 Aren't we ITK!! You have a PM! Might send St. Jason one as well, just to whet his appetite!

S-Clarke Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 You have a PM! Might send St. Jason one as well, just to whet his appetite! *cough* - go on..
saint1977 Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 St. Jason, I'm not going to say a thing.... Though even I have my own anti-Cortese story I will tell for the benefit of you all later! (not that I'm too bothered, but it would certainly reaffirm that he is a fussy sod, but by Christ, he get things done for this football club). He will upset a lot of people in the Prem but **** it, his achievements far outweigh anything "bad" he has allegedly done IMO. Exactly - Cortese gets things done for SFC, that's the important sentence. Guy Askham might have been more mild-mannered but he was an awful Chairman and continued the ruin the club behind the scenes even after the so-called 'reverse takeover' until Markus and Cortese rescued us. With Cortese, he might be a robust individual but I get the impression that what you see is what you get and the club needed strong leadership backed up with investment which it now has. Given the grubby dealings with the £1 shares, you could hardly say that about Ashkam and his mates could you?
Noodles34 Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 When testing something out, you normally tend to try it a few times, not the once. Therefore you would try a few different meals and try out a few different boxes to make sure the staff are performing and the food is up to standards. He probably wasn't testing it out. He probably just is a fussy b*stard. yeah, and I questioned the fact that he was testing them out, it was that idiot from the Alps that suggested that. Why would he test your own staff withhimself anyway? Like they are going to **** up their service when he is ordering!
aintforever Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 your mates just lost his job, thanks to u! I don't think telling your mate what you did at work is a sacking offence, unless you have signed the official secrets act. For what it's worth I heard a similar story but this involved returning food because it was on the wrong shaped plate! Definitely a ponce. What do you expect he's a banker. As long as the club is run well that's all that matters.
Thedelldays Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 I really like NC For many reasons. Mainly because he really winds up the fanontheboard types
dune Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 When you're only two plants pots high I guess a view is more important than for the unstinted. Does Nicky have leg extensions on his chairs?

Miltonaggro Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 If nothing else he has got the trains running on time...
MOSaint Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 OP, can you get your friend to confirm/deny the rumour that Cortese sits in a booster seat when at the dinner table.
The9 Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 he really winds up the fanontheboard types Usually by implementing policies at the expense of the fans or decent customer service, which seems to be a strange thing for a fan/customer to be supportive of.
Thedelldays Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 Usually by implementing policies at the expense of the fans or decent customer service, which seems to be a strange thing for a fan/customer to be supportive of. all in your opinion, of course

The9 Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 all in your opinion, of course Pretty sure charging fans for things that were free previously (eg ticket postage, car parking on non-matchdays, ticket booking fees) would be regarded as being "at the expense of the fans" by anyone, it's a measurable quantity and is not a matter of opinion. As for insisting people collect tickets in person on numerous occasions over the last few seasons, not sending some tickets out by post at all, failing to have the TO provide clear instructions, giving contradictory messages about allocations selling out, it doesn't take a controversial opinion to suggest that's poor customer service either. I'd say the only discussion to be had is whether that's an acceptable cost when put in context of the on-pitch achievement. So far, so good on that front - but there's no reason why we couldn't have both on pitch success and something resembling competent, fan-friendly policies and customer service as well. It's not like it's a trade off. You also don't need to have afanontheboard to find out where the club could improve their relationship with fans, it's just another lazy pigeonhole for the people who for some reason want to whitewash all of the failings because they happen to be fine with the fact we've been winning football matches.
The9 Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 Such as? See above. Now if you don't mind, I'm off to get changed for 5 a side. You should play.
Turkish Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 See above. Now if you don't mind, I'm off to get changed for 5 a side. You should play. Too slow, too injury prone and too late!!

Raging Bull Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 Too slow, too injury prone and too late!! Christ, I had you down as a fella all this time........damn!
Dark Munster Posted 17 July, 2012 Posted 17 July, 2012 This is, without doubt, my favourite Cortesse [sic] thread ever. Can I just clarify though, what do you mean by box? Do you mean like a lunchbox - the knd they sell in the mega-store with the Saints logo on? (When I was at school I had one with Thunderbird 2 on it). So he just wanted a different lunchbox for a different view? Or a proper meal, on a plate, eaten in an executive box in the stadium, which he then moved to? How fresh did he want his food? Does it really go off in the 2 minutes it takes to move? Or had it gone cold or something - in which case he could, quite fairly, have just asked to stick it in the microwave for 20 seconds. What was on the menu? It just seems like you've purposely omitted important facts on this story. I need to know everything before I can make my mind up.
Cascadia Saint Posted 17 July, 2012 Posted 17 July, 2012 When you're only two plants pots high I guess a view is more important than for the unstinted. Does Nicky have leg extensions on his chairs? Maybe he wanted a box to stand on while he ate his food and it got lost in translation?
Junction 9 Posted 17 July, 2012 Posted 17 July, 2012 I have never been in a box at SMS, but I'd imagine the view out of all of them is very similar. The inside of an empty stadium and a football pitch.

Unless you fancy going through the last 7 years again...?

"Failings" ??? IMO, Cortese hasnt made ANY of significance. Heres another "pigeonhole" - some people are never satisfied. I mean, hes only got us winning football matches

alpine_saint Posted 17 July, 2012 Posted 17 July, 2012 Are you ok Alps? :-) Absolutely. Yes, I get worked up and hysterical on the short-term weekly basis during the season, and in the run up to the season if our transfer activity hasnt been exactly sexy, but you cannot argue with the results of the last 3 seasons.
Turkish Posted 17 July, 2012 Posted 17 July, 2012 If Cortese can't decide what box to have his dinner in how can he Possibly make important decision like what players to sign and stadium expansion etc? This worries me and I don't think all is well inside SMS.

As long as the club is run well that's all that matters. Why is that so ridiculous? You have a way of doing something and you do it. If meal A goes on plate B and meal B goes on plate A then that's how it should be served, it makes things look more professional if everything is uniform.

Did he return it only because it annoyed him personally, or did he return it because it was indicative of the kitchen's performance with paying customers and he felt some "corrective action" was called for ?
Viking Warrior Posted 17 July, 2012 Posted 17 July, 2012 another antic NC post Only good thing is the OP's mate will not be working at SMS for much longer
