Fair enough or ponce??

St. Jason, I'm not going to say a thing.... Though even I have my own anti-Cortese story I will tell for the benefit of you all later! (not that I'm too bothered, but it would certainly reaffirm that he is a fussy sod, but by Christ, he get things done for this football club).

He will upset a lot of people in the Prem but **** it, his achievements far outweigh anything "bad" he has allegedly done IMO.

Exactly - Cortese gets things done for SFC, that's the important sentence. Guy Askham might have been more mild-mannered but he was an awful Chairman and continued the ruin the club behind the scenes even after the so-called 'reverse takeover' until Markus and Cortese rescued us. With Cortese, he might be a robust individual but I get the impression that what you see is what you get and the club needed strong leadership backed up with investment which it now has. Given the grubby dealings with the £1 shares, you could hardly say that about Ashkam and his mates could you?

When testing something out, you normally tend to try it a few times, not the once. Therefore you would try a few different meals and try out a few different boxes to make sure the staff are performing and the food is up to standards.

He probably wasn't testing it out. He probably just is a fussy b*stard.

yeah, and I questioned the fact that he was testing them out, it was that idiot from the Alps that suggested that. Why would he test your own staff withhimself anyway? Like they are going to **** up their service when he is ordering!

your mates just lost his job, thanks to u!

I don't think telling your mate what you did at work is a sacking offence, unless you have signed the official secrets act.

For what it's worth I heard a similar story but this involved returning food because it was on the wrong shaped plate!

Definitely a ponce. What do you expect he's a banker. As long as the club is run well that's all that matters.

he really winds up the fanontheboard™ types

Usually by implementing policies at the expense of the fans or decent customer service, which seems to be a strange thing for a fan/customer to be supportive of.

all in your opinion, of course

Pretty sure charging fans for things that were free previously (eg ticket postage, car parking on non-matchdays, ticket booking fees) would be regarded as being "at the expense of the fans" by anyone, it's a measurable quantity and is not a matter of opinion.

As for insisting people collect tickets in person on numerous occasions over the last few seasons, not sending some tickets out by post at all, failing to have the TO provide clear instructions, giving contradictory messages about allocations selling out, it doesn't take a controversial opinion to suggest that's poor customer service either.

I'd say the only discussion to be had is whether that's an acceptable cost when put in context of the on-pitch achievement. So far, so good on that front - but there's no reason why we couldn't have both on pitch success and something resembling competent, fan-friendly policies and customer service as well. It's not like it's a trade off.

You also don't need to have afanontheboard to find out where the club could improve their relationship with fans, it's just another lazy pigeonhole for the people who for some reason want to whitewash all of the failings because they happen to be fine with the fact we've been winning football matches.

FWIW I think I should be our FOTB.

This is, without doubt, my favourite Cortesse [sic] thread ever.

Can I just clarify though, what do you mean by box? Do you mean like a lunchbox - the knd they sell in the mega-store with the Saints logo on? (When I was at school I had one with Thunderbird 2 on it). So he just wanted a different lunchbox for a different view? Or a proper meal, on a plate, eaten in an executive box in the stadium, which he then moved to? How fresh did he want his food? Does it really go off in the 2 minutes it takes to move? Or had it gone cold or something - in which case he could, quite fairly, have just asked to stick it in the microwave for 20 seconds.

What was on the menu? It just seems like you've purposely omitted important facts on this story. I need to know everything before I can make my mind up.

Creating a self sustaining business model for a football club is in the fans' interests I would venture. Unless you fancy going through the last 7 years again...?

"Failings" ??? IMO, Cortese hasnt made ANY of significance.

Heres another "pigeonhole" - some people are never satisfied. I mean, hes only got us winning football matches

Absolutely. Yes, I get worked up and hysterical on the short-term weekly basis during the season, and in the run up to the season if our transfer activity hasnt been exactly sexy, but you cannot argue with the results of the last 3 seasons.

:toppa:

Why is that so ridiculous? You have a way of doing something and you do it. If meal A goes on plate B and meal B goes on plate A then that's how it should be served, it makes things look more professional if everything is uniform.

Indeed. Did he return it only because it annoyed him personally, or did he return it because it was indicative of the kitchen's performance with paying customers and he felt some "corrective action" was called for ?

Or did it not happen at all?
