St. Jason Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 Thursday afternoon my friend was cooking for Cortesse, he wanted lunch in a box & was promptly served in said box. He decided he didn't like the view so moved, fair enough you'd think, then he re-ordered as he wanted fresh food, he did this a further 2 times! Finally he found a box he liked, then he changed his mind about the menu, so, 4 lunches cooked!! Really???? Coyr's Ps before crab lungs thinks I'm looking to hire a plane, start a protest group or get a fan on the board I'm not! Just posting an insight to some of the things that go on!!!!
Doctoroncall Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 ...at least his three mates got to eat in peace.
St. Jason Posted 16 July, 2012 Author Posted 16 July, 2012 Its a bit diva-ish... It is a tad isn't it Alpine! By all accounts he is a very hard man to please, which on one hand is excellent, especially on the football side of things, all ways striving for excellence, but, I don't like the view, really??
Delboy Dave Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 Lunch in a box? why didnt he just go to KFC, that comes in a box?
Charlie Wayman Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 Bloody hell! what a completely useless thread. What's it got to do with footie? Get on with your work you skiving sod!
jawillwill Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 This is, without doubt, my favourite Cortesse [sic] thread ever. Can I just clarify though, what do you mean by box? Do you mean like a lunchbox - the knd they sell in the mega-store with the Saints logo on? (When I was at school I had one with Thunderbird 2 on it). So he just wanted a different lunchbox for a different view? Or a proper meal, on a plate, eaten in an executive box in the stadium, which he then moved to? How fresh did he want his food? Does it really go off in the 2 minutes it takes to move? Or had it gone cold or something - in which case he could, quite fairly, have just asked to stick it in the microwave for 20 seconds. What was on the menu? It just seems like you've purposely omitted important facts on this story. I need to know everything before I can make my mind up.
buctootim Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 If the story is exactly as reported, yes its diva-ish ansd a little telling. If Cortese was working, meeting and greeting in the boxes, spending time in each doing 'facetime' with sponsors / HNWI then it is good behaviour by a chairman. As ever with these stories we rarely hear the whole thing.
Thedelldays Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 if we had a fanontheboard He would have had a pint and a pie and been thankful
St. Jason Posted 16 July, 2012 Author Posted 16 July, 2012 Bloody hell! what a completely useless thread. What's it got to do with footie? Get on with your work you skiving sod! Absolutely nothing to do with footie Charlie, but it is to do with SFC! One, could argue your post is pointless, why post if you don't like?? This is something I really don't understand, it's not law you have to post, if it's a subject that doesn't interest you, simply leave! I never understand some posters need to constantly slate other people's opinion???

sussexsaint Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 To be fair it can't take that long to heat up a pukka pie
supergoose Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 Seems very reasonable behaviour. I'd be far more demanding if I was 'The Don'.
trousers Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 Thursday afternoon my friend was cooking for Cortesse Have you been reading that book "101 ways to get your friend sacked" per chance....?
Crazy Diamond Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 This is ridiculous. We want our club back. Where's Michael Wilde?
alpine_saint Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 Have you been reading that book "101 ways to get your friend sacked" per chance....? A very good point. Unless NC employs a 100 chefs to hide amongst...
This Charming Man Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 So what we've learnt from this episode is that Cortese likes freshly cooked food. The real question is do we want someone like that running our football club?
boxosponge Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 Perhaps it just may be that he was doing market research? Boxes are not cheap and he wants to ensure that the standards actually being dished up are good enough. Tim Martin visits 10 Wetherspoon pubs a week to see what us punters get. Good for The Don doing similar. If he was just doing research though, how about the crap food (or lack of it) and crap beer THAT THE REST OF US MUST SUFFER.
lordswoodsaints Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 I know a bloke who eats his lunch in a box everyday,it's a cardboard box,he also stinks of **** and cheap cider,he doesn't come across as diva-ish though, just a bit looney and unwashed.
doddisalegend Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 **** it I'd be the same we all would. We only complain becuase we haven't got the power to make people cook us lunch four times or change boxes (or actually even afford to watch a game from a box) becuase we don't like the view if we did we'd be just the same:lol:.
Joey-deacons-left-nut Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 Like others have said, he was just testing..... attention to detail, that's all...
Avenue Saint Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 This is ridiculous. We want our club back. Where's Michael Wilde? Cortese out!
Noodles34 Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 please, if you are going to relay a highly dubious "my mate said...." story, give us the facts. What box? in SMS? or was it somewhere else? There is probably no real substance to this story whatsoever but someone feels the need to write it...
dubai_phil Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 FFS don't let Eric see this thread, NC & eating & boxes...
alpine_saint Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 Seems there is a rational explanation for this - he was testing out the "Executive box experience", maybe looking for improvements and determining value-for-money. Things like the temperature of the meals when they reach point-of-service, etc. Sounds reasonable, though would have thought someone a bit more junior could do that. Control freak or personal touch, I am sure we will all take our respective sides. Changing the subject slightly, what does the occupation rate of the boxes look like this year ? I was sat in Kingland for the Millwall home game last season, and hardly any had signs up in front of them.

In reality, a paying customer to a box is going to demand to be moved two or three times and get fresh food with every move? Hoping to go into a box for the Xmas Sunderland game, maybe i should try it out and see what happens.

Is it a aching desire to trowell the sarcasm at every opportunity, or simple, plain stupidity ?
doddisalegend Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 are you thick or something? Helps if you add a quote with a statement like that...otherwise you're just having a conversation with yourself

tpbury Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 If I was NC, I would have made sure the un-eatenmeals went to the staff or some tramps, failing that, Pompey triallists.
Delboy Dave Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 Hope the chef doesnt get the bullet for this thread. I wouldnt be best pleased if one of my mates had posted this about me
Crab Lungs Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 St. Jason, I'm not going to say a thing.... Though even I have my own anti-Cortese story I will tell for the benefit of you all later! (not that I'm too bothered, but it would certainly reaffirm that he is a fussy sod, but by Christ, he get things done for this football club). He will upset a lot of people in the Prem but **** it, his achievements far outweigh anything "bad" he has allegedly done IMO.
The9 Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 it's got f-all to do with SFC! It sort of implies that our Chairman is somewhat difficult to please, which is slightly relevant, if completely bloody obvious. That in itself has both good and bad sides.
Noodles34 Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 Are you joking or just not very bright? seriously failing to see your point?
Noodles34 Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 Maybe it was boxes at either end of the box concourse ? I really wonder about you. This Charming Man Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 seriously failing to see your point? When testing something out, you normally tend to try it a few times, not the once. Therefore you would try a few different meals and try out a few different boxes to make sure the staff are performing and the food is up to standards. He probably wasn't testing it out. He probably just is a fussy b*stard.
CanadaSaint Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 And so we have another crap thread turning into another p*ssing contest. Roll on season start.
Jonnyboy Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 Last year I met a chap who was involved in property management for corteses place in chilworth. I alluded to him being hard to please and got an anxious / positive response.

Crab Lungs Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 Is this story anything to do with after the Middlesborough away game? No, don't know anything about that! Mines about the refurbs taking place at the stadium at the mo...
