This Charming Man Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 Charming man..... Was this you? Come on, own up. I boycotted the day after Saints pulled Rangers from the tournament. Wish I'd gone now though.
alpine_saint Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 So you think sectarian songs at matches is okay but that jokes about Fritzl, basements and Austria's greatest statesman are unacceptable? I dont believe I have expressed my opinion about sectarian songs either way. SuperMikey is a precious tart irresepective of whether such songs are OK or not. I dont think the Fritzl and Hitler jokes are unacceptable. I do however think they demonstrate superbly how the teller is a generalising cliche-making pathetic moron bereft of genuine wit.
buctootim Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 There was an Orange march last summer actually. Not sure if there's one this year. I'm not bothered about the marches and that side of things though, I'm not religious at all. I just enjoy singing sectarian songs and partaking in some light hearted bigotry every now and then when I'm up at Ibrox. Can't beat a sash bash after an Old Firm for a good sing song. Shame I won't be able to do that for a few years. Theres a difference between bigotry in jest and doing it for real. Lewes bonfire is great night out. They commemorate the killing of protestant matyrs and burn the effigy of the Pope responsible. I doubt you'd find anyone locally who really hates Catholics though.

Probably a struggle to get to the game being up to yer knees in fenian blood and all that. I imagine that makes even the shortest journey a long winded affair. Murder on the old superga trainers as well I expect?

Only got one pair left at the moment, so I'm taking good care of them, which means keeping them away from any blood, not just Fenian blood. The other pair are in the bin at the moment after coming a cropper at The Stone Roses the other week. Thanks for reminding me that I need to get another pair though.

There's a sale on at the moment, stock up, at £25 a pop you can afford to get blood all over them.
buctootim Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 There's a sale on at the moment, stock up, at £25 a pop you can afford to get blood all over them. Or go to the factory in Vietnam. £3 a pair there.
This Charming Man Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 Or go to the factory in Vietnam. £3 a pair there. Wish I knew that when I was in 'Nam. Would've filled a suitcase up.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 Or go to the factory in Vietnam. £3 a pair there. Seems a bit far to go for a pair of trainers. What you save on the trainers, you'll spend on the airfare. It would be worth going here again though http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cu_Chi_tunnels - great trip. Got to fire AK47s and M16s, could be useful for the sash parties.

I actually watched the video of me firing the M16 there the other day and I must say, I've really nailed the menaced looking grin that's a must whilst firing a gun.

Turkish Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 surely then this is the same as telling black people the post war work shortage is over and they can kindly **** off back to the commonwealth? No, it's a polite question. "the famine is over, why don't you go home?" celtic fans could easily reply with "we love this country, we're going to stay here" which would be fine, instead they choose to boo and sing abuse during rememberance Sunday and chant pro IRA songs. I'm sure you find this perfectly acceptable though.

Should I sing, "I am home, wasn't here for the famine, survived the reformation without getting burnt"? Not as catchy as the Hun song but explains the situation well.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 16 July, 2012 Posted 16 July, 2012 I think it was just Timmy being bitter as usual, this time because he's still wearing his worn out Hi Tec squash trainers. Hi Tec trainers only cost 5p to make in Cambodian sweat shops.

In that case Rangers could sing back 95 theses written in a book 95 theses written in a book And if one thick Catholic had had a proper look There'd be 94 theses written in a book

Though the song is still relevant to the tens of thousands of tri-colour wavers that swamp the Piggery every other week.

I doubt you've ever visited Glasgow or spoke to people who live up there with a statement like that. The city is a divided one and it's divided by religion and politics. The police up there even have a specialist 'Anti-Sectarian Unit'.

I spent enough years going out with a girl from Garthamlock to discover that. Edited 17 July, 2012 by buctootim

Though the song is still relevant to the tens of thousands of tri-colour wavers that swamp the Piggery every other week. I'm not fussed about the song as it is a football song and I know 99% of them don't mean it. My family as most are, is mixed. Most of my cousins are Gers and I am in a minority. If you truly believe it though, you should look at the BNP's manifesto, you'll love it.

Pretty much. My Dad left Belfast and joined the merchant navy because of lack of jobs or opportunity. He treied to settle back with my mum in Belfast but as she was an English protestant they got threatened. Later on his family split down the middle with some being in the British army and some in being in the IRA, including a Brigade commander. Gerry Adams worked for my uncle. Anything else you want to know?

derry Posted 17 July, 2012 Posted 17 July, 2012 Wonder who is going to win the SPL for the next few years.

No connection with it, I'm not religious. I don't understand how anyone can support or condone a team when large sections of its fan base are anti British and openly chant support for terrorist groups.

Sales??? Is this true Turkish? I am shocked, I had held you in such high esteem until now. I'll have to find a new hero. Where's Dune? He has some interesting views.

I don't understand how anyone can support or condone a team when large sections of its fan base are anti British and openly chant support for terrorist groups. like i said I don't condone it, but as u say u don't understand. its a bit more than whether u are blue or green hoops, but that sort of abuse and chanting shouldn't be accepted, whichever side is doing it. and u should be the first to realise that nit all fans of a club think the same way, just imagine how good sms would look if we all thought like u. my family are from Ireland, I consider my self English, but its part of my heritage, I do not support the IRA, I have an affection for Celtic but I dont support the extremists, and frankly I find some if the comments on here support an intention to incite if religious hatred.

I think it might be.....
Tokyo-Saint Posted 17 July, 2012 Posted 17 July, 2012 Any thread related to Celtic or Rangers always has to be closed without explanation or explanation. I am pleased to see that this one looks like it will keep up the long tradition.
Noodles34 Posted 17 July, 2012 Posted 17 July, 2012 I never had you down as such a bigot. crikey, you should be on here more often then.
