Rangers Fans

The whole Celtic - Rangers thing is moronic. A cesspit of ignorance and hatred.

However I expect these guys were just annoyed at Rangers being replaced and were just trying to shock people. There's little point being upset by it.

I'd have shook their hands if i'd been there being 100% SFC & Rangers.

wow, good to see we have so many posters that support the rangers fans.

just out of curiosity, and for the layman comparing it to the south coast, how many bullets were sent to Adkins this year, and I'm not sure if NC gets many death threats.

our hate is based on a proximity and a dock strike, not hundreds of years of oppression.

jus sayin...

ffs ! i hope this was some form of sarcasm ?

that was my understanding but please enlighten me, my family have only lived on the south coast since the 80s so we havnt been part of the deep seated cultural war that exists here.

The saints Pompey rivalry goes all the way back to the battle of the Boyne. That William of Orange has a lot to answer for - Skate b@stard!

Anyone else in the Northam today near those Rangers fans? It was all a laugh and a bit of banter until they started singing sectarian chants. No f*cking place for that sh!te at my club. Apparently they moved to the Kingsland after the first game. W4nkers.

Why would you go to somebody elses club and do that kind of thing? Disgraceful and has taken away any respect I may have once had for Rangers or their fans.

Oh get over yourself you big girls blouse.

i thought as a Saints fan you would know that is a big made up pile of sh*te concocted by skate bastards. i assumed everyone knew that.

Southampton dockers never broke a strike down there. they have a history of striking themselves, so the idea of them breaking picket lines is silly.

the skate bastards have repeated the lie so many times in books, articles & in documentaries people seem to believe it's true.

oh & you have lived here about the same length of time as me, so no excuse ;)

or maybe I dont care about it enough to really look into it, and it doesnt define me as a person, or a fan, or even our status as a club.

if u think it does, and that it compares to other clubs rivalries, u are deluded. we have a longer history of working together, the history and purpose of the Solent is based around the two cities supporting each other. we do not have a Franco situation, or half a millennia of religious war. our rivalry is merely sporting, nothing more.

oh and u never actually said what the rivalry is based on, u just told me what I've heard us a lie, and u are assuming.

You know nothing about Rangers, dune/Stanley. You're just a racist scumbag who's discovered opportunistically that you can vent your bigotry more indirectly by posing as anti-Catholic.

and yet another supposed 'intelligent' poster on here fails to reply to a thread without resorting to trolling.

where the f*ck did you get the impression i was intelligent ? :D

no trolling intended on my part, just couldn't believe a Saints fan didn't know it was lies.

i've no idea where the rivalry stems from & don't really care. i don't like the skate bastards, your obviously don't mind. the world would be very boring if everyone agreed on everything.

Nah. Its the Dál Riata, or some time before. Like most sectarian rucks there isnt usually any point, apart from 'he started it' .

I thought that "William of Orange" was the name of that pigeon used by British troops at Arnham in Sept 1944 during WW2

That was orange William, called so due to the unusual colouring of speckles on his left wing. Easily confused as they were both Dutch and had ambitions for the British throne.

Btw is dune's name really Stanley?

I dont know what the problem is. I think some Rangers songs make valid points. Such as The famine is over, so why don't they go home? Its a perfectly reasonable question.

surely then this is the same as telling black people the post war work shortage is over and they can kindly **** off back to the commonwealth?

What sort of sh*t do Celtic fans sing ?

Do they restrict it to Parkhead ? Do they f**k.

Really, the way people have a pop at Rangers is supremely hypocritical.

OK, so if it doesnt happen at SMS, it doesnt happen, is that what you are saying ? Bizarre.

You either think the singing of sectarian songs is wrong, or you think taking offence to it is over-sensitivty.

C'mon Alpine, theres no mileage in being faux thick. This thread was started by a Saints fan about something he heard at SMS. Why is something that Saints fans didnt hear but may have happened at some old firm derby in Glasgow last year relevant to this Saints thread on the Saints Web about an event at a Saints game in Southampton?

I pity the people who have no problem with this. Like I said, if Anderlecht had started a song about killing Muslims or Jews we'd all be criticising them (well, the rational ones would), so why is this ok?

And my lack of "life experience" (whatever that means) doesn't mean I can't be offended by blatant racism.

Because the real issue is not wee SuperMikey's poor ickle-wickle sensitive ears and sensitive disposition, its whether the singing of sectarian songs is generally acceptable/to be tolerated or not.

So you think sectarian songs at matches is okay but that jokes about Fritzl, basements and Austria's greatest statesman are unacceptable?

What's wrong with a bit of harmless sectarian fun anyway? Especially during marching season, come on people, It's not as if anyone has every died from it.

When is marching season in Southampton anyway?

There was an Orange march last summer actually. Not sure if there's one this year. I'm not bothered about the marches and that side of things though, I'm not religious at all.

I just enjoy singing sectarian songs and partaking in some light hearted bigotry every now and then when I'm up at Ibrox. Can't beat a sash bash after an Old Firm for a good sing song. Shame I won't be able to do that for a few years.
