The happiest moment you've been at a Saints game?

What moment stands out to you (and will for the rest of your life) as being the moment when everything was just brilliant?

As single moments, Benali scoring and Tiss getting the winner in the final Dell game were amazing but I think the JPT final was the moment when everything was just brilliant. After all the crap and slow decline of the previous few years we had a team that I respected who were imposing themselves on competitions, a new owner who seemed like my perfect choice and happy fans who were respecting and enjoying the competition.

I'd even started to take to Pardew!

Moran's last minute goal at skates in 1984.

Ruddock's injury time penalty at home to Newcastle 1988or 89

MLT - first v Newcastle 1994

As a teenager - Paul Gilchrist's goal v Palace in the semi-final, 1976 , THE DREAM WAS ABOUT TO HAPPEN

As a parent - going to the JPT

Too many to mention, all on a par.

Last season, watching Rickie's 3rd hit the back of the net at Millwall. The £625 win from the bookies made the celebrations that much sweeter afterwards.

When Sharp's last minute 'winner' was awarded against the skates. That was a happy time. Obviously it didn't last long.

The whole 2nd half against Cov, it just got better and better. The noise was unreal at times.

Going back a bit, the wins over the skates when they first got promoted were special as a 16/17 year old. Put them right in their place.

From a personal point of view, Saints equalising in the JPT in injury time against Norwich was the best moment for me. I forget who scored it to be honest, Harding I think, because I was too busy mocking my other half (a Norwich fan) at the back of block 30 of the Kingsland. She wasn't pleased, especially after we won on penalties, but because I'd outed her as a Norwich fan to all around us! (FWIW, nobody cared.)

Jose Fontes header at the Withdean sparked brilliant celebrations, and started us on the road to where we are today.

(Can they keep up with us???)

I reckon that day tens of thousands of Saints fans around the nation scared the sh.it out of their neighbours as they went mental whilst doing BBQs!

That was certainly true in our small part of Staffordshire!

Yes the 76 cup final is something i can never forget, the whole day etc etc, but in truth the happiest was at the JPT final, standing with my 15 year old son, not only proud of my team and the wonderful supporters that day, but being happy because my son stuck by his team through the crap of 2 relegation's and administration and he saw his team win at wembley just as i had, what a fantastic away day shared with my family.

4.33pm on 1st May 1976.

Then 7 minutes later an even bigger moment.

This....still brings a lump to my throat 36 years later.

The Coventy game was pretty special...when Jose's goal went in I believed we were going up...Jos's was pure joy and Lallana's sheer delirium..

1. Neil Ruddocks last minute pen on April 1st 1989. First win since a home victory over Villa in November of the same season.

2. Le Tissiers header to make it 4 - 1 over Liverpool in November 1989.

3. Camera v Norwich. Was so low thinking we were down until that goal.

4. Higginbottom v Palace not long after. Same reason as above.

5. Couldn't go to the game but Saints v Cov when Lallana made it 4. The way that the commentator said "Southampton are going up"

Sorry but it can only be Le Tiss's swansong. I mean, there've been many great moments - Beattie vs Skates, Pahars being Pahars, Benali scoring, THOSE United games... The JPT was a sort of special thing for me also, because while it's a pewter jug rather than silverware for a club of our size, I'd not seen us lift anything before. I wasn't born in 76, and for those that were, that must surely be it.. otherwise I don't see how anyone could get past MLT's Roy of the Rovers moment. It just beggared belief, the situation, the timing, the.. the ****ing style of it. Only him.

Being at St Mary's on April the 28th 2012 after the final whistle, that is the winner for me at the moment :)

JPT final is up there too though. I wasn't born in 76 and Cardiff 2003, despite the brilliant atmosphere, I really didn't enjoy the result. So it was absolutely brilliant to see us at Wembley as Winners!

The obvious ones have been mentioned already, but the single moment of pure joy that stands out for me was Chappers netbreaker against Man U. Absolute delirium in the kingsland, never seen anything quite like it.

I was going to mention chaplows goal as well. It was symbolic of our rise back where we belong. Went mental.

Not quite as mental as I went when Marians scored against the skates at Christmas. Not only was it the great mans swan song but OMG did it p*ss saggy chops off who 'cancelled Christmas' for the whole of the squad afterwards.

Antonio scoring at the JPT final and then starting to relax knowing I was about to see my team win something at Wembley.

Camara v Norwich. Never known anything as loud as that.

Barnard v .MK Dons. The turnaround that made me believe automatic promotion that year was achievable.

4-1 v Liverpool, I was a kid at the time and Liverpool were untouchable. All I had ever known is Liverpool were the best, to beat them was a dream but we completely outclassed them.

Nichol's 4-2 formation was still the best football I have ever seen Saints play. Le Tissier, Wallace, Rideout and Shearer up front, with Case pulling the strings in midfield - superb stuff. The Man Utd 3-1 and 6-3's were also up there.

Rasiak's equaliser is also a stand out moment - the most mad I have ever gone. Plus Fonte's goal at Brighton which pretty much secured promotion.

For once you're right dumbass. This was probably thebest performance from a Saints Team ive ever seen. Totally dominated easily the best team in England by playing fast attacking football. IIRC we hit the wood work 3 times as well with Rideout smashing one against the bar from 30 yards with a great shot when the score was still 0-0.

That was a great side. Makes you wonder what might have been if we'd kept Nicholl, who was sacked for finishing 12th the following season, or got someone decent in instead of Branfoot and been able to keep that team together.

Norwich 4-5 Saints under Alan Ball. We came back from 3-1 down to 3-3 then went 4-3 down before eventually pulling off an amazing win that went towards pulling off another great escape.

Yes, this one for me....Ken Monkou's header in injury time near us away supporters was for me the moment when football was perfect !!!!

Ha ha brilliant! We were having a BBQ at ours and me and the lad were watching Soccer Special when the goal went in. We went absolutely ballistic.

There have been so many fantastic moments but when we scored our third against Coventry that was the moment I knew we were up and could soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the rest of the game.
