Saint J 77 Posted 14 July, 2012 Share Posted 14 July, 2012 I'll jump around with joy if this signing comes off, think it'll be an awesome signing of the very highest calibre. Can't see us wrapping it up so soon though, we usually take 2-3 weeks to get someone signed, just look at the Buttner saga! I though the Buttner deal was now off? I never really heard of Clyne before Saints showed an interest but from all reports he sounds like he would be an excellent signing for us if we can get him. He is apparently both young and hungry too
SuperMikey Posted 14 July, 2012 Share Posted 14 July, 2012 From that video he looks f*cking quick which is a good thing. Some real pace at the back for once since...well, since I started supporting Saints! Price is a snip too. Great deal for us.

The Di-ly Express is the most pitiful title on market, worse than the star which doesn't pretend that it is for anyone other than idiots. There, you reeled me in. But anyway. Clyne. Great. If true. sammysaint Posted 14 July, 2012 Share Posted 14 July, 2012 I would like to think when a paper says they have signed that there is some truth to it rather then the usual paper talk of saints are set to sign, hopefully we have agreed at least a fee and or personal terms and waiting for it to be signed off by the PL and FL, great signing at a bargin, rumours were teams like Utd were looking at him for cover before his injury, i think 1.5 is great if he doesn't fulfil his promise in the PL, we know he is a very good championship player and can recop that money from a championship club. Just need a RM GK and a CB, and we have a squad ready for a safe 14th/15th position finish.

CB Fry Posted 14 July, 2012 Share Posted 14 July, 2012 This somewhat conflicts with the other report. ...in the Star. The Star don't bother with the conventions of the form - ie Clyne is 'set to sign' - they just speak definitively and hope.

suewhistle Posted 14 July, 2012 Share Posted 14 July, 2012 I kept a vague eye on him when we played Palace (watched it on saintsplayer) as he's been in our sights for some time, and was slightly disappointed but as pointed out, not a great idea to put him on Rickie. What I did like in that Youtube video was his pace, and the fact that he didn't give up. He lost the ball or was intercepted but went back and retrieved, not relying on someone else to cover and pick up the loose pieces. With his pace a number of times he was first to the free ball when at first it didn't seem likely. I'll keep an optimistic eye on the OS next week....
