I have trusted and admired Weston Saint for the past 5 years and indeed it stinks that some people on here treat him wit"h such lack of respect. "Welcome to Saintsweb 2012, where you can be pan fried with every post"

Come on, time to bring the standard up to the Premier League quality and leave all the backbiting, childish stuff in the Football League

Totally agree with your sentiments. I come under quite a lot of umwarrented floak myself.

I am flattered by the support but as Ottery says I will survive. I was only answering another posters enquiry. Obvious I know, but he did ask!

I keep away from controversial posts. It does no good engaging such people and only feeds their obsessions.

Good signing when complete.

News just in from the game.

Happy Clappers United 10 - 0 Dell Sized Mentality City

"It's men versus boys out there" :D

Seriously though, nice signing if true. I love our transfer focus at the moment; pluck young talent that can do a job now and have got room to grow in the future. The fact that a lot of them are English is even better. They're going to rocket in value if they do well.

Bit of a gamble on youth/and or former Championship players, but much prefer this approach to the one QPR took.

Was Lowe the previous Queen Mother by chance..or was that Manji?

I was going to add that us forum boyzz better put our hanbags away or there could be blood spilt:p

But when I think about it:rolleyes: the last time I saw two birds fighting with their hand bags..was Les Dawson and his side kick..:D

Come on boyz and girlz let us get behind the mighty Saints as one:)

I have it on trusted authority it is £2m, a chunky sign on (if it is 500k then this explains reports of 2.5m) and Palace retain a 20% sell on clause.

Strange that they can insist on a sell on clause when he is out of contract?

They are free to negotiate or let it go to tribunal - as are we. I would imagine that it suits both parties to agree now as it gives Palace wonga to spend in the window and us certainty on the fee.

Daniel Sturridge is a good example of where sides couldn't agree and it went to a tribunal.

And to remain on good terms with Palace too.... I would suspect.

Our signing strategy might work wonderfully - it might fail miserably I suppose - but whatever the outcome I'm all for giving it a go. We could build a team (as many others have) based around established Premier League players looking for a last big pay day before they decline, but our way - the Southampton way - looks a better way to me.

Virtually every player we field this coming season - Lambert/Lallana/Schneiderlin/Rodriguez - will take to the pitch having something still to prove in the game, this season will be the biggest moment of their careers so far for most of them. An enticing prospect if ever I saw one.

Work with a Palace fan. He says Clyne is best player to come out of their acadamy. Last season vs United he had Nani in his pocket for the whole game. Will be a great signing.

I happened to be at that game cos my old man follows the Eagles, I'm pretty sure Nani weren't playing. Clyne was good tho!

So just how good is he then? Everyone is raving about him. Admit I know next to nothing about him and only saw him play once. Must say I didn't really notice him when we played Palace - then again none of their players really stood out apart from Zaha.

Heheh - I was just about to suggest we consult C.P.'s MLG...

Anyway, song for Saturday:

Nathanial Clyne is all mine, all mine

Nathanial Clyne is all mine,

(Do-lang, do-lang, do-lang)

(Do-lang, do-lang)

He's so fine

(Do-lang-do-lang-do-lang)

Nataniel Clyne

(Do-lang-do-lang-do-lang)

That player standing tall overthere

(Do-lang-do-lang-do-lang)

The one with the amazing flair

(Do-lang-do-lang-do-lang)

He's so fine

One of the best young english prospects around. He will play for England in the next year.

Composed on the ball, very, very quick. Technically incredibly gifted and a very good reader of the game. Only 20 as well.

Regarded as one of the best young english full back around. You don't come close to signing for Man Utd for being average, put it that way.

Dont like to be negative BUT if he is that good why didnt Man U sign him? 1.5-2.5m is a small gamble for a club like united.

I don't think we'll fail miserably. I'm fully expecting to get a couple of hidings, but hey - there isn't a team in the Prem that hasn't had a good thrashing on an off day. We'll only go down if we're consistently bad, and I'd back this team to do better than that.

If we can survive this year with this group of players fully blooded and experience to draw from, especially if we see the sort of improvement we've seen in the likes of Lambert, that's going to be an excellent first season back, imo.

You're right though. Every player has got something to prove. Can't wait. Particularly looking forward to the games against the scouse teams.

Really good signing but I hope people don't go on and on about how United wanted him. If United were truly interested then he would have signed for them. There is no proven link that they were interested anyway save for paper talk.

Maybe this played a part in United not coming back for him

http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/football/893963-nathaniel-clyne-close-to-penning-shock-manchester-united-deal

Manager Sir Alex Ferguson was confident he could get his man, only for the player's agent to pull the plug on a switch to Old Trafford at the last minute, believing better terms would be offered as a free agent in the summer.

The decision annoyed Ferguson, but he has maintained an interest

We all know that Fergie can be stubborn

Oh i don't know they can't sign everyone they think is good, i dare say he was on their maybe list. It's not like they're particularly struggling for young right backs.

Nice to know, considering Lallana took him to pieces repeatedly.
