They knew the Buttner deal was in trouble, so they are trying to sell us a German left sided player instead. However, it turned out to be an dodgy agent, and the player in question was in actual fact Prutton dressed as Lahm.

here all week etc etc

Sooner or later I do believe we will sign a big name player. IMO we need to do this if we are to raise the profile of the club to where Nicola Cortese wants us to be. We can certainly afford it.

As much as I'd like to believe you, the footballing world just doesn't work in the same way it did when we signed Kevin Keegan. Nowadays, big name players cost an extraordinary amount in wages (in which case, beware because you will **** off the other players not getting that amount). Also, if you can't afford the wages that they deem fit, they would rather warm the bench with their arses for years rather than come and play for you (take almost any Man C player for an example).

This, would be great if we could make a marguee signing of some sort. Obviously, within the confines of wages and squad harmony.

Tsk, such a Dell sized mentality.

I thought we didn't need to sign big name players and were going to challenge Man City by using our world class academy graduates who are ignoring Man United so they can play for Southampton with their mate?

True, hence our alternative of going for mostly young players with a burgeoning reputation who can be attracted by the chance to play in the top divison but wont cost a fortune in wages and can be sold on later - aka Rodriguez, Buttner, Tadanari Lee and Butland (even though that appears to have stalled).

There's the SWF world and then there's the real world.

Just been told by somebody on the inside that there is a German agent (not secret ww2 type) at the stadium as we speak.....not clear yet who he is representing though????

Anybody got any ideas?

I have no German stereotypes to offer you but have been reliably informed that there is a huge towel draped over the stadium. They looked at our new kit and thought we were the 'pool...

Boom tish etc
