Paulo Gazzaniga - Officially Signed

So another box ticked, don't know enough about him to comment on him ability wise, but welcome aboard the bus Paulo?

Hope he can step up to the mark if & when called on.

When you sign a year long loan it normally means no call back, does it also work the other way to? They can't send Tommy back after a month. Let's hope so.

You can't recall a player from a year long loan, but I think the other side can terminate (or send back if long-term injured).

Not sure why they'd bother though because I expect we are paying 100% of his wages as part of the deal

I suppose he could mouth off at some children, as he did against Eastleigh in the preseason a few years ago, and have Gillingham send him back for that. Hope not though.

It's a bit of a 'trade secret', and a tad geeky, but if you switch on notifications for a given Tweeter you receive the notification alert before the tweet appears online. (Just keep this between me and you though. I wouldn't want my posting prowess to be challenged by too many fellow nutjobs.)

Oh well done, you beat Trousers to it!

Trousers is regretting his earlier post already :)

May seem a bit of a brave comparison but his stature and from what I've seen in videos, he reminds me of De Gea. Very tall, great kicking, Gazza seems to have better catching at the moment, but his overall persona seems very similar to De Gea IMO.

Looks like a brilliant prospect.

It's taken the Gills fans all of 5 minutes to find these reviews of TF online:

The Crewe Chronicle described Forecast's debut as "one of the most shockingly inept displays the Football League has ever seen."

"6'6 no less, Just 6 inches off being 7ft tall. And lobbed from close range. I remember it happening he finally did the simple thing and raised his hands over his head to catch the ball a whole 3 SECONDS after the ball went in. It's the worst performance in goal i have ever witnessed including Sunday league games."

"A truly horrendous goalkeeper."

"Terrible goalkeeper, how did he make it to play professional football, i honestly think that im a better goalkeeper, did any town fans see him make a save?"

"Unfortunately for the lad he's probably the worst keeper I've seen for town and I've seen a fair few."

"I have never seen a professional footballer as bad as him. "

If you were a manager and you made the decision to take a player with those sort of reviews, along with his record of being benched by Bromley etc, you'd have to expect people to seriously question your judgement. Why on earth would they take him?

Argentinian goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga has this morning joined Saints on a four-year deal.

The 20-year-old moves from npower League 2 side Gillingham for an undisclosed fee and has now linked up with his new team during their French training camp.

Gazzaniga - pronounced Gass-a-neega - will train with Saints in Évian-les-Bains today with a view to being involved in tomorrow's friendly against Évian Thonon Gaillard.

As part of the deal to bring the former Valencia stopper to St Mary's, Tommy Forecast will join the Gills on a season-long loan once the Saints squad return to England next week.

Yes..........there is a God!

Magnificent !!

A great start to the morning..

He will be commanding in the box with that height and with his superb kicking, it will be like having another outfield player. A good signing and another young player who can develop further. NA must give him more games than Bart had though so his confidence will be kept up.

IF he's good enough, why not ??

I was at the Dell when somebody called Shilton mede his debut for Leicester when they beat Saints 1 - 4

If I remember correctly he actually scored a direct v Campbell Forsyth

I hope Saints don't make the same mistake as they did with Bart

Early on, Bart WAS good enough, but season after season with very few competitive matches, no Reserve Team etc etc RUINED him

I reckon once he settles in at Notts County, he will get back to the form that made him Polish U21.

I got washed out while standing in the Archers. Using the F word after Shilton scored ensured that my mate's Uncle would no longer give me a lift down to home games.

From the youtube video it looks like he sweeps up behind the defence well. Potentially a very good signing.

Carlsberg don't do optimism beyond the call of duty, but if they did....

[TD=bgcolor: #E7EAEF, colspan: 2, align: left]Here we go again, written off before he has got on the pitch..I recall Dagenham fans saying they would happily drive Tomlin down to us if we would take him off their hands.

If he's that hopeless I doubt we would have wanted him loan or otherwise, have to trust that the people who brought Gazza to the club in the first place have brought someone in who can compete for the no.1 spot.
