DT Posted 17 July, 2012 Share Posted 17 July, 2012 I hate it when news outlets, such as BBC Solent, use the term "understand". E.g. "The BBC understands that Capello will become Russian manager". Presumably everything they report is what they "understand". But they tend to add in the word "understand" to mean "we kind of think this, but aren't wholly sure". Which isn't really the dictionary definition of "understand".... It tends to mean that they have it from a good source, who does not want it attributed to them. In that sense it is a notch up from pure speculation.

saintedwill Posted 17 July, 2012 Share Posted 17 July, 2012 Lawrence Hall @LawrencePFCHall HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA the scummers are after Gillingham's keeper now! #DownBeforeItEvenStarts #Pompey So I guess they have a keeper now? They have. His name is Tom Kinsley, he's seven years old and plays for Ventor Primary. He won a competition at school to be one of Pompey's trialists and go on tour with them to Spain. Michael Appleton said: "He's a great prospect for the future but because of the situation we're in, we might have to throw him straight into the first team. I'm sure he can handle the rigours of the modern game, he's young, keen and as long as he's not gone past his bedtime, full of energy. We just need to move on some of the more experienced players so that we can afford his pocket mon...er, wages"
Turkish Posted 17 July, 2012 Share Posted 17 July, 2012 Does that mean he won't be as good as how hart in 5 years? It means he'll get about 4 National caps, suffer a massive drop in form and confidence not reach his potential and Gillingham wil release him on a free or he'll end up playing in Turkey. Hes (apparently) a good keeper because he has talent and has been schooled well by top notch La Liga coaches in Spain. All Lg2 is likely to teach him is bad habits. Bearsy Posted 17 July, 2012 Share Posted 17 July, 2012 Paul Gascoigne went to a fancy dress party one time and he thought he'd go as a gangsta rappa. He even went and done the black-face cos he's MAD innit and like a child so he don't know no better. He went out first with Jimmy Fivebellies to have some jars and then they rocked up at the party dressed in matching gold tracksuits, and Paul burst through the main doors all like "Way-ay! It's me... Paulo Gazzanigga!" but it turned out it was actually the FA Awards dinner and no-one else was in fancy dress! He never played for England again. Window Cleaner Posted 17 July, 2012 Share Posted 17 July, 2012 Without doubt, the most expensive piece of Sh*t in history nowhere near it, we paid about 4 million and 3 years salary for that totally useless pair of Ecuadorians. I am totally convinced that that deal was the root of all our past problems, that and appointing Gray and Wadsworth that is. That wonder package must have cost the club somewhere in the region of 8/9 million. 5 years for TF at 5K a week doesn't even come close.

Thedelldays Posted 17 July, 2012 Share Posted 17 July, 2012 Why would we farm in out on loan last season, in the Championship, get rid of 2 of the keepers ahead of him and make him no 3 in the Premier League? because when was the last time keeper 3 for any team was called upon it is the one position you are allowed to make emergency loans I would suggest any keeper we could get on an emergency loan for a period of weeks (should the unthinkable happen) would be better than a teenager as no.
Alanh Posted 17 July, 2012 Share Posted 17 July, 2012 I think you might be right about CB's we might only see one come in if Dan Seaborne does enough to convince the management that he can make it after his injury. I think we'll almost certainly see two keepers come in as Forecast is clearly not rated as he never came close to challenging Bart of No 2 status last year. A PL squad needs three keepers so I wouldn't be surprised to see a youngster and a more experienced player come in before the end of August. Alanh Posted 17 July, 2012 Share Posted 17 July, 2012 The last time a No 3 was needed was when Liverpool had Reina and Doni sent off in quick succession and Brad Jones had to step in towards the end of last season.

S-Clarke Posted 17 July, 2012 Share Posted 17 July, 2012 I'd feel so sorry for Gillingham if we fobbed them off with Forecast, who is barley Blue Square south standard. I think we'll end up getting this kid without the next few days, and then the immediate GK issue is sorted. We may get another in august if Forecast does go, but I think getting 1 GK in was priority - 2 is a bonus.

To be honest I dont think we will be able to trick them into taking Tommy as part of any potential deal. If they have seen him play then we don't stand a chance of shifting him. I would hope this or a move for an equally decent keeper is next on the agenda for Adkins and Cortese. Have any ITK people heard any more on our interest in Paulo Gazzaniga ?
