Jillyanne Posted 8 July, 2012 Share Posted 8 July, 2012 Place it on a radiator for 20 mins, worked for mine, take sim out first though and put that on the radiator separately for 5 mins
Saint-scooby Posted 8 July, 2012 Share Posted 8 July, 2012 DO NOT TRY AND TURN IT ON OR CHARGE IT Ok is it a 3 or 4 ? if its a 4 then remove the rear glass, two small screw next to the docking port TS1 driver The back slides up, when thats off you will see the battery and several ribbon connections to the top. its easy to remove the battery from there, leave it for a while in a warm place, if you give it a gentle shake you might get a few drops of water from around the midframe, if so keep drying it until they stop. There is a very small moisture detector next to the battery, plus another one near the docking port, I guess as its been swimming its a no **** sherlock moment. Check the top ribbon connections for any sign of damage, salt water is a killer replace the battery and cover. see if it will power up, if not " I will offer you £50 now to buy your old iphone PM if you need anymore help
doubleonothing Posted 9 July, 2012 Share Posted 9 July, 2012 Try this http://www.save-a-phone.co.uk/articles_c89.aspx Costs about £20 but a mate of mine used it recently and it worked for him. Take some time, but worth it.
tony13579 Posted 9 July, 2012 Share Posted 9 July, 2012 Check to see if any insurance covers the phone. House or some bank accounts etc Go on to YouTube and see if there any instructional videos on de-salting and drying out an iPhone.
HK_Phoey Posted 9 July, 2012 Share Posted 9 July, 2012 Trick I have tried a couple of times is to put it in the airing cupboard in a sealed container full of dried rice for three or four days. Worked for me.
Nolan Posted 9 July, 2012 Share Posted 9 July, 2012 Was gonna say the same thing about the rice trick. That's worked for me before. Sent from my Lumia 800 using Board Express
mdearlove Posted 9 July, 2012 Share Posted 9 July, 2012 Bag of rice worked for me after I jumped in a swimming pool and had a swim, then realised I still had by phone in my pocket. It took a few days but got there eventually
Doctoroncall Posted 19 July, 2012 Share Posted 19 July, 2012 This may help prevent water damage although I'm not sure how long it lasts... http://mobzilaa.com/hzo-protects-your-phone-from-water/
Saintandy666 Posted 19 July, 2012 Share Posted 19 July, 2012 Don't turn it on or charge it or do anything with it. Just put it in an airing cupboard for a week or two. If all the water is not gone before you use it, it could break properly somewhere down the line. Has worked for me in the past. Though I also hair-dried it for a couple of minutes instantly afterwards.
sfc1971 Posted 19 July, 2012 Share Posted 19 July, 2012 Rice works every time, remove battery and put both batt and phone in a pint glass fill with rice and leave in the warmest part of house for a few days it will work.
