TV and broadband - what's good and what's not

ooh it's a corner

My current deal with BT finishes in August.

I've had it for years, having got truly wound up by Sky's incessant price increases, but BT have followed a similar vein and my DD with these robbers is now up to £80 per month.

What is everyone else using, how much does it cost and is it any good?

The only thing I need to be fussy about is the download limit, as I can easily grab 40GB+ per month

(without the porn before anyone asks)

I'm with BT and the other week renegotiated a deal and basically got phone, broadband and vision for the same price I was paying for phone and broadband. You are only contracted with them for between 12 and 18 months. Check out their website and clue yourself up on the online price and then ring them up and get a better deal.

BTW do you have sky sports on bt vision and if so do you get annoying boxes on the top right and bottom right of the screen?

No dont have sky (before you fall off chair for me paying £80 for phone, broadband and BT vision).

I hate changing broadband service provider as it has always given me a period of downtime, which I am loathed to have, but I do feel right royally ripped off at the mo

You are being well and truely fleeced if you don't get sky sports in with it for that price.

I pay 14.60 line rental, 1.05 friends and family international, option 2 broadband (40 gb) and calls (free evening and weekend) 19.40 less a discount of 9.15 (negotiated on the phone to them) = 10.25, bt vision unlimited 12.50, sky sports 1 and 2 18.20, phone usage which last month was 5.73. So in total i'm paying 62.63 and I get sky sports. I'm loathed to go with sky or virgin (who might offer a better deal) though because I do like the service BT offer.

Prior to this i was paying around 50 quid just for phone and broadband, so am quite pleased to get sky sports and vision for around 12 quid, and without sky sports it'd be less than i was paying before. You should be paying about 45 quid for what you are getting from them.

Thanks, I'm sure some of the £80 is catchup funds from movie rentals and the like, but you're right i'm being fleeced.

meh.

I'll might go the re-negotiate route before waving the two fingers, but having been fleeced, waving two fingers feels like the right thing to do....

Also once you've sorted out a new package you have a month cooling off oeriod, so use it wisely. to get the deal I did on the broadband they won't send you a homehub 3, but that is just a minor inconvenience. Sort out the package and then ring up technical help and tell them your old hub (probably a home hub 2) has shi/t wifi coverage - which it does and demand a home hub 3. They will do your head in as you get put through to India, but persevere. I was on the phone to them for over an hour (it's 0800) and eventually got what I wanted. Stick to your guns and and after an hour of their nonsense demand to be put through to an english operator so you cancel the whole package (which you can as you are in your first month) and you will find yourself speaking to an english sales rep who will offer you a homehub 3 at a discounted price - half price i think of 35 quid or something, do not accept this, stick to your guns and say how the old one is not fit for purpose and after another half hour of bullsh/t you will eventually get one for free. It's just a matter of wearing them down, like they try to wear you down.

Virgin appeals to me, but I'm put off by being there a dozen years ago and their service being pants, is it still pants?
