dubai_phil Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/internet/9381112/Could-the-internet-really-shut-down.html In shutting down the virus, however, the FBI opened a can of worms that reveals what one analyst calls “a weakness in the internet’s infrastructure”. You mean some people have only JUST noticed how "weak" the internet infrastructure is? EEK! No INTERNET for a day? No emails? No excels? Better book up for a round of golf then. Yup it's 42C and about 70% humidity I'll go hit some golf balls. Wonder if the GPS will still work? So. What are you going to do Monday with no Internet? Dune - better reply to that email from Nige. Turkish better order his latest gear online (good chance the bank will lose the transaction) Eric? just open another OSH. Trousers on the train on the PTS - oh dear, Dude you'll have to look at your fellow commuters for a change.
Gambol2K9 Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 Load of rubbish, a virus won't shutdown the world's DNS servers on Monday.
RedSolo Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 This will only affect end users that don't know any better
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 7 July, 2012 Posted 7 July, 2012 WOT! No PTS for a day? I bet it all kicks off then so we can't gloat.
gaz Posted 7 July, 2012 Posted 7 July, 2012 WOT! No PTS for a day? I bet it all kicks off then so we can't gloat. They'll use the time to bury bad news.
Verbal Posted 8 July, 2012 Posted 8 July, 2012 If you click on this link... http://www.dns-ok.us/ ...it will tell you whether your computer is infected, and therefore liable to be affected by the FBI's action on Monday. If you get a RED background, you're infected. If GREEN, you (like me!) are in the clear.
