I said a while ago that Bompey supporters ought to be aware of where all their new found wealth was coming from. Well, they're aware now.

The Bucket Rattlers (registered trademark to Crab Lungs) have taken out a £6 million loan in order to pay for ground improvements, player transfers and player wages. This is just three years after being in administration and very nearly going to the wall, exiting the Football League.

I'm a former (voluntary) employee of the club and left before Mitchell began spending like there was no tomorrow, and it struck me that it didn't seem right. No one listened of course...

"While Mitchell declined to confirm whether the funds had come from Cherries co-owner Maxim Demin, a Mr M V Demin is listed online as a director of Wintel."

Isn't Maxim Demin meant to be a billionaire? Mind you if he holds that much power over the club he could end up letting his wife manage them.

"The Bournemouth chairman, Eddie Mitchell, has defended his club's credibility after confirming that the wife of the Russian co-owner Maxim Demin gave part of the half-time team talk during their 1-0 home defeat to MK Dons." http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/feb/25/wife-bournemouth-half-time-team-talk

I think the main part of that is 'meant to be a billionaire'. I know for a fact that the BBC Solent sport crew asked the Football League to do the 'fit and proper persons test' and they weren't interested in doing it. That may have changed since.

Mitchell himself is a dangerous bloke. There were accusations of being an alcoholic that he never answered properly. Starting on fans, swearing on national radio, the whole team talk thing... It's not good.

£6m is nothing

For a League One team with average support, it's a lot. They also don't have their own training ground at the moment, plus they don't own Dean Court. Basically, not many assets.

Oh I see, So he is a bit like the "Billionaires" that have taken over the Skates in recent years?

You never know. I mean at least this guy actually exists, but whilst he deliberately keeps quiet, you have to wonder. Also why a loan? Why own only 50% of the club? How can it be that a billionaire only owns half and insists on loaning the cash and not giving it over?

Yeah I though that to only by 50% of Bournemouth when you are a billionaire was a bit odd too.
