Golac's Cunning Stunts Posted 6 July, 2012 Share Posted 6 July, 2012 According to their local paper http://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/9802557.Albion_in_for_Bridge/? Down to Poyet to persuade him to drop to the Championship. Can't see that happening personally. Would you like to see him back at SMS?
doddisalegend Posted 6 July, 2012 Share Posted 6 July, 2012 He is not really the player he once was....he seeming willingness to take the big payout over regular football also gives me the impression he's not the sort of player we'd go for. ART Posted 6 July, 2012 Share Posted 6 July, 2012 Bridgey's been corrupted by big money, and the good life. Football no longer plays a big part in his life as it did in his Saints and Chelsea days. Big shame as he was one of the best left sided players around.
Golac's Cunning Stunts Posted 6 July, 2012 Author Share Posted 6 July, 2012 I guess £90k a week is hard to kiss goodbye to :-) The Sunderland Echo is reporting that Brighton would be contributing 10k with City making up the (enormous) difference http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport/sunderland-afc/safc-news/ex-sunderland-loanee-bridge-set-to-join-brighton-from-man-city-1-4714070
This Charming Man Posted 6 July, 2012 Share Posted 6 July, 2012 He's the complete opposite of the type of player we'd be after. Big wages and on a bit of a downward spiral... So I fully expect him to end up at QPR.

Golden Balls Posted 6 July, 2012 Share Posted 6 July, 2012 Shame, he was a great player once. Saying that, I remember reading something about a year ago where Man City did loads of fittness tests on the whole squad and Bridge came out as the fittest player. He's just fallen out of love with the game....and in love with money....and fit women. Git
svetigpung Posted 6 July, 2012 Share Posted 6 July, 2012 He has been rubbish for 4 or 5 years now thats what happens when you sit on the bench or in the stands every weak. Shame. Was a decent guy and good player when he left us...

Foxstone Posted 6 July, 2012 Share Posted 6 July, 2012 His Mick Channon tribute Windmill when he scored at Bolton (?) showed he was a Saints Fan at heart.(at the time anyway!!) And when he also gave it large to the Fratton Faithless when he scored against them for Chelsea... Shame his career went awry - he was class for us. Guan 2.0 Posted 6 July, 2012 Share Posted 6 July, 2012 Wayne bridge has it figured out. Move to an area where his Girl is least likely to get hit on. Continue to get paid by man city. Less expectation and pressure in the championship

Chez Posted 6 July, 2012 Share Posted 6 July, 2012 give him a few months to get proper fit and he'll be top draw. Great signing for them. Brighton will do well next season. Might be worth an e/w on promotion.
Saint J 77 Posted 6 July, 2012 Share Posted 6 July, 2012 (edited) I wonder if in hindsight Wayne regrets leaving us now. He might not of lost he girlfriend/wife to the cheating John Terry (allegedly) and he might even of played more regular football. I guess at the end of the day he has earn't a shed load of money but at what cost? He was mean't to be a Saints fan but got tempted by the golden carrot dangled in front of him. The club (or Lowe even) at the time were quick to let him go. Its a shame really. I hope from now on this doesn't happen to our stars of the future. WinchesterSaint Posted 6 July, 2012 Share Posted 6 July, 2012 He wanted to come back to Saints, tried to get his agent to set it up but Nicola said no thanks - doesn't fit the saints criteria of being young enough to have a resale value.
Patrick Bateman Posted 6 July, 2012 Share Posted 6 July, 2012 Missed opportunity. Would have liked to have seen him back at our place. Brighton? Odd one Really?? Frozen at Man City (okay, they are pretty good, they may have done well last season ), but was pretty poor at West Ham and Sunderland. Yes, I think with match practise he could still offer something, but we don't have that luxury, we'll be hard pushed to get to say, 14th in the Prem, without the hinderance of someone getting match fitness. No thanks. Winchester boy, Saints fan and all that, but not in the team now in my opinion.
Under Weststand Posted 6 July, 2012 Share Posted 6 July, 2012 Good luck to the guy. Hope he can re-kindle his passion for the game after being frozen out at City. Could be an excellent signing for Brighton.
