Johnny Rotten on QT

Anyone watching? It's pretty good car crash TV. Probably the first panelist ever to use the word tw*t on QT.

Did he ?

Superb.

I always though him quite intelligent and eloquent, so when I heard he would be on there I was confident he would the give the other panellists a run for their money.

He just came across as obnoxious and a bit of a prat I thought,

Much like Louise "I've done class A drugs but I won't tell you which ones" Mensch. I thought it was a pretty poor panel TBH, and it didn't have the quality of debate that previous shows have delivered.

good show don,t normally watch it has its normally a lot of old farts repeating the party line without any independent thought or well to do people born into privilege moralising ,i prefer the likes of johney rotten, george galloway.ann widdlecombe ,,tony benn etc and anyone who does think for themselves whether i agree with them or not makes it more interesting program.

It was quite interesting to watch for about 10 minutes, then he became cringe worthy very quickly. I thought that's how the panelists saw him too.

The problem was, once you got passed the shock value of him being there, he didn't have anything to add to the debate (staring at the audience and pulling funny faces doesn't count) BUT it did keep the politicians on their toes.

All in all, it's good to have non politicians on there, just not sure Jonny Rotten really worked.

One of my favourite Tories. There are far too many bland nodding idiots nowadays and not enough people with their own minds and convictions.

I lived next door to her for about 10 years. Can't see I agree with many of her political views but she worked damned hard to get Maidstone United playing back in their own town, so credit due for that.

As for Lydon on QT, he was good value for a bit but then became increasingly irritating and pointless. A bit like his music career really.

He's quite clearly completely nuts. Thought he had a few valid points, just struggled to get them across in a coherent way.

Watching him trying to argue for the legalisation of drugs was comical though, he's living proof of why it should stay illegal.

Actually he's living proof of people getting messed up on drugs even though they are illegal.

The whole arguments behind drugs being illegal is based on the assumpion that drug legality equals drug use. I had to laugh at the irony of one woman in the audience (the black lady with short blonde hair) who was basically saying she had seen some horrific effects of drugs, lives ruined etc. but that the status quo should be maintained.

The non-politicians generally make or break Panorama IMO... I've really enjoyed watching people like Tony Robinson and Marcus Brigstocke put across some great points and provide some top debate. The media can be a bit hit or miss, but then it depends on their paper and their level of blinkeredness.

I thought it was embarressing and just about sums up the direction the programme is heading.

Dimble was awful, should have just told him to STFU when he kept interupting people. Robin Day would have been turning in his grave as Dimble let him ramble on over and over again. I'm all for eccentrics, but they should be interesting and articulate and he was neither. He sums up the punk movement, rehash of Eddie Cochran songs and rock and roll riffs whilst dressing like a ***t swearing a lot, and giving himself a child like name. It's a shame one of the panelists didn't use him as an example of the dangers of drug use.

I disagree with some of the other posters, I thought Mensch did ok. She used to work in the music industry and for EMI and her husband manages Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers & Jimmy Page . So it's entirely believeable that she used drugs.

The problem Mensch had was she was up against AJ, who is by far the best and most believeable politician Labour have produced in the past 20 years, and I also thought Lawson's boy was good as well. She is just the latest in a long line of "chicks" all 3 major parties seem to think shows how modern they are. ****ing hell, Maggie Thatcher, Barbara Castle and Shirley Williams they are not. But then Lydon or is it Rotten, is hardly John Lennon, more Adam Ant I would say.

I thought Rotten made some very valid points although he came over badly by speaking when he wanted to and pretending Dimbleby wasn't there. He was spot on with some of his comments on fighting the drug war although his reasons for wanting drugs legalised were all over the place.

As for Mensch she is an enormous hypocrite but I would
