Come on Whitey

I'm lying in Southampton General waiting for a date next week for a coronary bypass operation. Had a 'small' heart attack Tuesday morning and was brought in thinking it might be indigestion but blood tests showed otherwise. Angiogram yesterday showed all three coronary arteries almost blocked in several places do a bypass is the only realistic long-term solution. I've never smoked but I had got overweight and not eaten particularly sensibly and diabetes had set in. Used to get home and have dinner too late, worked too much in the evenings so please all of you, eat sensibly, sort out your lifestyles and don't think it won't happen to you.

This is what Whitey Grandad posted on another thread.

Don't need a love in, but far to many Saints vs Saints on this board.

Get better Whitey .....looking forward to reading the bollcoks you spout very shortly

EoA & myself managed to catch up with Whitey at The Cricketers in Eastleigh for a pint of Real Ale over lunch last summer.

The man is a true Gent and a star for making the effort to come and spend an hour with us.

Truly hope everything goes well for him.

(Mr Sibley we know you cast an eye from time to time, you know what to do)

as a survivor of 2 heart attacks I'd like to remind you there is life afterwards.. It was 12 years ago I had my first one, and like Whitey and many many others that had had heart attacks, I was completely unaware I'd had one.

Just a dull aching pain in the jaw, and a slight pain in the neck.. But it was the cold sweaty clammy thing I felt that worried me enough to DRIVE to my local doctor.

Within minutes I was flat on my back and had a neddle stuck into the back of my hand and an ambulance was called... I couldn't understand why the doctor was taking it so serious.

Two stints in blocked arteries and 5 days later I was back home on about 8 tablets a day.

Five years later and complacent I decided to dive into the swimming pool, the shock bought on another heart attack which I thought was indigestion.

2 stints and 5 days later I was back home again.

Lesson learnt, don't get complacent take your medication, reasonable diet at reasonable times, pack in smoking and you'll live to be 100.

Of course if you didn't support the Saints that would be 120..

GET WELL SOON WHITEY

Whitey is a top bloke. Got me a ticket for face value in the South Stand at Dean Court for the game down there. Saw my desperate plea on here and despite being offered far more gave it to me for face value. The 2 of us Sat surrounded by the "baying locals" it was great to chat saints and football with such a knowledgable bloke.

Get well soon mate!

You bastards, you've got me welling up in tears here. I've bought two season tickets for next season so I've got to get through it all ok, I wouldn't want the money to go to waste. I'll miss the Markus games on the 14th (my 63rd birthday) but I'll be there for the 25th August. If not, I'll expect a statue at the very least. Sleep well my friends.

Don't know you Whitey other than reading your posts on here but seems you're the type of fellow any Saints fan would want to meet and be pals with. So the very best of luck to you for your coming operation and recovery.

Having had the pleasure of meeting Whitey, I can confirm this is 110% FACT.

Thanks to Gemmel for posting and Thanks to Whitey for the sound advice.

My mum had a similar op 5 years ago and can now run rings around me!!

Best wishes to a True Gentleman and Saint.

Good luck Whitey, It could quite easily happen to anyone who forgets to look after their body/lifestyles, thanks for a reminder to me and others.

I heard you was desperate to meet the players but I feel you have chosen the wrong time of the year mate. :-)

Get well soon as we need you supporting the mighty reds.

Quote, Thanks, I feel better already. Two to be taken twice a day?

Sincerely chaps, I am overwhelmed by all your best wishes. I take back all I said. ;-)

Now hold on a minute! Just because you are in hospital for a day or so, don't go getting all soft with us. We all know, the minute you are home behind that keyboard, you will be calling us names again!

You bastards,

That's the spirit.. all opinions are welcome here.:-) Us overseas fans getting a bit nervous about tickets don't want to see any unused seats next season! Get well soon, you'll be fine. We'll all be popping extra pills on match days next season!
