saints_is_the_south Posted 4 July, 2012 Share Posted 4 July, 2012 Not seen a mention on here so apologies if there has already been one, but whilst I was getting the shirt Sunday I noticed a season review DVD on sale. Not seen this advertised by the club at all, and I can't find it for sale online but it is there, if anybody wishes to purchase!

Berkshire Saint Posted 4 July, 2012 Share Posted 4 July, 2012 Very strange the club hasn't announced it...would definitely been keen on getting myself one but will have to wait until it goes online as I'm rarely in Southampton!
JPTCount Posted 4 July, 2012 Share Posted 4 July, 2012 I saw the sane thing, its not the sh*tty st DVD, it's a compilation of all the goals this year and extended Coventry highlights, didn't note the price tho
saints_is_the_south Posted 4 July, 2012 Author Share Posted 4 July, 2012 A guy just behind me in the queue didn't actually want the shirt, all he wanted was the DVD. So queued up for 2.5 hours for that!
WinchesterSaint Posted 4 July, 2012 Share Posted 4 July, 2012 I brought one today whilst getting a shirt, think it was about 17 pounds and is a 2 DVD set with all the goals from the last 2 promotion seasons.
beatlesaint Posted 4 July, 2012 Share Posted 4 July, 2012 Yes its a double disc set for £17. Disc 1 is all the goals from 2010/11 and runs for just under 1 hour. Disc 2 is all the goals from 2011/12 and runs for just over an hour. Bonus footage is 33 mins of highlights of the Coventry game plus dressing room celebrations and celebrations on the balcony plus Solent's interviews with players. Not bad actually. The Kraken Posted 4 July, 2012 Share Posted 4 July, 2012 I'm not sure the club have any idea what external marketing is, so I'm not surprised hardly anyone has heard about this.
Saints Fan Dan Posted 4 July, 2012 Share Posted 4 July, 2012 It did get a quick mention in one of the shirt launch articles on the OS. Don't know why it's not been put online yet, hope it does soon.
Dig Dig Posted 4 July, 2012 Share Posted 4 July, 2012 I'm not sure the club have any idea what external marketing is, so I'm not surprised hardly anyone has heard about this. It's weird how poor some of the marketing/ticketing operations seem to be. Much of it is pretty standard.
Nigel=God-Poyet=Sod Posted 4 July, 2012 Share Posted 4 July, 2012 It was £17 and I have to say a pretty mediocre watch. No interviews or looks at the table through either of the seasons, just the goals. Unfortunately, once again, Pardew was effectively written out of Saints' recent history with not a mention of his name or his sacking. Shame because the work he did paved the way for Adkins to complete the job, superbly I may add. Anyway, I digress. The DVD was edited shockingly and looked very unprofessional. It is impossible to think how a Saints fan can actually find it hard to watch 2 terrific seasons in the clubs' history, but I did. Could have done a much better job IMO. It's lack of attention to detail is summed up by a spelling mistake of 'production' spelt 'producion' at the end of the credits. Apologies for such a negative post. What a pity, sounds like it should have been marketed and produced much better. I'll probably still get it at the Wigan game as it's a record of the two seasons and something to watch on a rainy weekend where Saints aren't playing. The Cat Posted 5 July, 2012 Share Posted 5 July, 2012 Pity that is sounds guff. It's not like the club don't have access to all the footage and interviews they've built up on Saints player over the past few years. Wouldn't have taken much to cobble all that together into a decent package with a few extra interviews and a voice over.
Ian the Red Posted 5 July, 2012 Share Posted 5 July, 2012 I got the DVD thinking that last season's footage would be similar to the month by month "Road to the Premier League" on Saints Player, which I thought was superb!! The DVD is however, a bit of a let down in that there is some idiot talking over the goals instead of the Radio Solent commentry which was used in Saints Player. But its great to have all the goals on DVD its just the talk over that's lets it down.

I assume it's similar to the 06/07 dvd which was pretty crappy production wise also (but only cost me £3 on hmv).
