Welcome to the world of science funding..... How co-incidental is it that the Tevatron in the US suddenly started finding hints of the Higgs boson just as it was shutting down ??? I made the same point on the global warming thread. What absolute rubbish. While I can't pretend to be an expert in particle physics, maybe you should go do a little reading on the basics or even better go look into the vast amount of evidence and data to back this all up. And maybe then look into what we have done with the knowledge we have found out because of science. It's makes me laugh how people sit there on their transistor based machines and say science is a load of rubbish.

Colinjb Posted 4 July, 2012 Share Posted 4 July, 2012 Right. So, in a nutshell, the Higg's Boson particle is the thing on which the idea of 'Mass' hinges. That it can be defined means that we can understand mass and physical behaviour better? Yes? So does that mean we can start looking at different ways of propulsion? Will it mean that faster then light travel can now be considered?

I'd pay good money to see two rocks hit each other at the speed of light. We used to drop them out of Canberra towers in Weston but local physics bye laws meant we could nver get them above 120mph. They are currently suing the rest of the universe on court and if they win all non iParticles will have to turn back to their state from before the big bang. dubai_phil Posted 4 July, 2012 Share Posted 4 July, 2012 OK so now they are not sure what Higgs Bosun they have found. One set of data could indicate it is a non-conformist Higgs. Other data that it could be a Vanilla Higgs. Eh? So the research could be starting to indicate that there is a possibility that there may be more than one Higgs Bosun. So there could be more than one God Partcle. So that means they have possibly discovered that there is more than one God. Wow, that's gonna screw the planet up then. We'll have wars between differing Higgs Bosun Opinion Factions... Shouldda read the story about it in The Sun, rather than clicking through random links. I think I need a cold towel to the forehead now. Oh to join the Alpine Funding Debate, they WILL of course find multiple God Particles. They will then decide that these Multiple God Particles will of course have to be held together by a Bigger than God Particle. This will invoke a global move by the World's Scientific Community to create an Even Bigger than a Hadron Collider super duper. It will of course be called Deep Thought and will (eventually) be recorded in history as the second greatest Computer ever built by Mankind
