This Charming Man Posted 6 July, 2012 Share Posted 6 July, 2012 11 clubs from the SFL have come out and said they will vote against Rangers going into Division 1, and Dundee have apparently been told they cannot vote due to conflict of interest, reducing the number of eligible votes down to 29. This means only 4 more teams with greater interest in integrity than money need to come out and say "no", Rangers will go into the 3rd division, and Scottish Football wil implode. Personally, I think Reagan of the SFA should resign for his passive and inept handling of this. He should have torn the SPL teams a new arsehole. And there is still no answer as to whether "club12" will be Dundee or Dunfirmline. Hopefully they do go to the 3rd Division. Queens Park 'away' will be fun... Not looking good for another team in Blue BBC News (UK) @BBCNews 18 of 30 Scottish Football League clubs suggest they will vote #Rangers into Division Three - @BBCJamesCook http://bbc.in/Le9TjC #rfc Why? Rangers want Div. 3, they're happy to accept full punishment for what's gone on. Wouldn't mind seeing the panic on the SPL chairman's faces now though. Their TV Deal is now void and they'll miss out on the payday's when Rangers come to town for a few years. Shame...

melmacian_saint Posted 13 July, 2012 Share Posted 13 July, 2012 Justice served. It was exactly what happened to Gretna (but no-one came to take ownership of share) and Livingston (straight from D1 to D3). Hopefully we'll se another case quite close to us in the near future...the first step has been given, we just need confirmation.

alpine_saint Posted 13 July, 2012 Author Share Posted 13 July, 2012 The correct result, once the SPL booted them out for petty revenge. I'm glad the SPL bullying of the SFL didnt work. This Charming Man Posted 13 July, 2012 Share Posted 13 July, 2012 Seems this might no be so straightforward. The SPL are now threatening to form a breakaway SPL2 and invite Div 1 teams into it. What a pathetic organisation they really are, chucking Rangers out whilst acting all high and mighty, yet at the same time desperately scrambling around trying to get them back in the SPL as soon as possible because they know they can't live without them. I really hope Rangers tell them where to go.

The SPL set this affair in motion, they can now reap the benefits of massive reduced TV revenue. I'll think you'll find that David Murray set the affair in motion - without his 'creative' use of the EBT scheme they wouldn't be facing a massive tax bill & without his spending they wouldn't have gone into admin and he was the one who sanctioned the sale to Charles Whyte - who then ran the club along the 'Peter Storrie school' of using tax money for cashflow. The SPL clubs were the ones that voted, under great pressure from their fans, for NewCo to put in the SFL. But the SFA do have a lot to answer for, the game is a shambles up here & needs a radical overhaul but I'm not sure anyone trusts the people currently in charge to get it right. Interestingly, the SPL still havent named "club12" (why ? for me its a straightforward decision for Dundee), and I reckon if Rangers call their bluff, they will be re-admitted to the SPL this season. The SPL have had their rant, rave and sent their message. But now the money talks. Rangers have got Scottish Football by the balls, and hopefully they know it. Why settle for SPL2 when you can have SPL1 ?? Edited 13 July, 2012 by alpine_saint

alpine_saint Posted 16 July, 2012 Author Share Posted 16 July, 2012 The SPL board have just formally 'invited' Dundee to participate in the Scottish Premier League About time. I wonder if there was a final round of pushing from the SFA about re-admitting Rangers though. Seems like everyone is now resigned to taking their financial medicine.......... If Scottish football can wean itself off TV money, maybe English football can do the same, one day.

May well spell the end of a few clubs St. Mirren have come out and said tht with rangers gone. They now have to treble their usual ST sales to make up the shortfall Other chairman have said that this will have a devastating effect on about 5 clubs in the SPL with the other clubs being hit hard.... Including Celtic

Similar to the Football League refusing to approve our takeover unless we agreed not to appeal their decision to deduct points. Disgraceful that an organisation like themselves is able to get away with what pretty much amounts to blackmail.

This Charming Man Posted 23 July, 2012 Share Posted 23 July, 2012 some precedent they have sent - other Scott Dann (Scotland) clubs will think twice before gambling so heavy again!! The punishments they've handed out have set a very dangerous precedent. Several other clubs have already admitted they could go to the wall over this. They're not going to have any teams left in the SPL at this rate. They'll all be in the Scottish lower leagues. Then again, it's normally one rule for Rangers, one rule for everyone else...
