It is certainly possible that West Ham could make the champions league at some point in the future. Will West Ham be champions league regulars in the next 10-20 years with similar levels of investment to now would be a better question. I suspect that answer would be no.

Yet when Cortese says he has incredible vision and drive. What's the difference?

The Libeherr estate has 10x the wealth of Gold and Sullivan combined and none of the debt?

Interesting, why West Ham but not Southampton?

It is quite possible that the saints could play in the champions league at some point in the future. After all, Newcastle almost did it this season. I don't think anyone has ever argued that it is possible that saints could one day play in the champions league.

Do we need to have the same thread with the same 2 people saying the same things every few days?

TBF it was MLG who brought it upabout saints. Also I don't think I have actually said anything about saints and the champions league before. That is other people.

If a thread isn't about Saints, why is it on the main board? All I did was answer Turkish's question.

Are you sure you are in possession of all the information regarding West Hams champions league potential? There might be some crucial and truely amazing piece of information you dont have which means, like when man climbed Everest, there is every Possbility West Ham can play in the champions league.

So West Ham couldn't get taken over by billionaires then?

West Ham with a fine tradition of developing youth, couldn't forge a team of starlets and finish fourth?

And West Ham are bigger than Everton or something as well.

And so on.

He really does look a wrong un. Imagine that mug gawping back at you from the front of your football programme; it'd be enough to choke on your half time pie. Thankfully we have a sophisticated, suave abnd handsome chairman to represent us.

He lives in the next village to me. Supports the local annual festival and gave 'an evening with' speech last year. He started with nothing and has done well. Good luck to him

From Dave's wiki page:

Advocate of lowering football club debt

After the campaign against Malcolm Glazer's increase in the debt of Manchester United and Portsmouth going into administration in 2010, Gold has advocated regulating football clubs' debts. He feels it is "cheating" for a team to take on debts which they could never pay off without external assistance and that he "fears for the league".

Interesting.....

WHam are an irrelevance and of no interest to me except to wind up my golf buddy who originates from E15. I am just glad we have NC and not Gold and Sullivan in charge. I think we have a better chance of getting to the Champions League than WHam because the NC/NA package is much closer than the FatSam/Gold/Sullivan uneasy alliance. (And I suspect we have more money available as and when it's needed.)

Yet when Cortese says he has incredible vision and drive. What's the difference? Although If either club gets there it would be amazing.

You know amazing doesn't necessarily mean good, right? It means unexpected, so you aren't really mocking the positive posters by constantly using it.

HTH.

I think he said the same at Birmingham City

The usual Teams Man City Man U Chelsea Arsenal possibly Spurs Liverpool will be Champions League contenders for the forseeable future

How long is the foreseeable future? And what happened to Newcastle? Couldn't they get there too? Oh, I see, they are not one of the usual teams. And Liverpool, one of the usual teams didn't fare too well last season, did they?

They never got there though. Everyone did. How did that go?

What kind of chairman would he be if he said no? The question says will West Ham ever make the Champions League. Of course they could.

Stupid thread.

Exactly...what PL chairman would say no. Any team in the PL could conceivably get into the CL by virtue of a lucky/great season....there's a world of difference between that and being a regular CL team though.....

David Gold started with nothing, running errands for Market Traders whilst his mother was a single parent cleaning a cafe. He has always appreciated her support for him and said when she was 30 she looked 60. When he got on in life he was able to give back more to her and as a result, he said when she was 60 she looked 30. One has to admire the man.
