kwsaint Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 What do you reckon? I reckon around 30%. Not even joking.
Crazy Diamond Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 What do you reckon? I reckon around 30%. Not even joking. Double that and you've probably got Reading's number.

Griffo Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 New season ticket holders should have to do a Saints quiz and have to have gone to over 10 games last season (3 must be away) in order to be able to purchase a season ticket. Can't say fairer than that.
doddisalegend Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 What about in reverse the number of people who had STs last season that won't see a league game live this season....

Tokyo-Saint Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 7.6% with 3.3% not coming until we scored our first goal and looking like we might go up. How will we ever know the real answer though and why does it matter? There will be plenty of 'fans' of other clubs coming this season. I know a few myself that have suddenly taken an interest in saints.
Griffo Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 There will be plenty of 'fans' of other clubs coming this season. I know a few myself that have suddenly taken an interest in saints. Please do all you can to tell them that they are not welcome anywhere near St Mary's.
stev2001 Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 Please do all you can to tell them that they are not welcome anywhere near St Mary's. Money? If they stop saints fans coming to the ground then yes otherwise why wouldn't we want their money?
Griffo Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 Money? If they stop saints fans coming to the ground then yes otherwise why wouldn't we want their money? Why would we want a stadium with half arsed Saints fans in? I don't understand the mentality of going to watch another team you don't support regularly.
stev2001 Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 Why would we want a stadium with half arsed Saints fans in? I don't understand the mentality of going to watch another team you don't support regularly. I do agree with you in a ideal world but I'd rather have a little more money to spend on players, academy, stadium etc than not have their money at all.
This Charming Man Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 Does anyone know how many ST's we've sold to Japanese people?
Griffo Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 Does anyone know how many ST's we've sold to Japanese people? It's your job to ensure that none are sold to them.
Dig Dig Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 does anyone know how many st's we've sold to japanese people? 1.2mm
This Charming Man Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 It's your job to ensure that none are sold to them. Just checking none have slipped through the net whilst I was at the EURO's.
Fan The Flames Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 Why would we want a stadium with half arsed Saints fans in? I don't understand the mentality of going to watch another team you don't support regularly. So if 100 non Saints fans turn up each game, thats a third of 1%. It would be like pi**ing in a swimming pool.
doddisalegend Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 1.2mm I Know japanese people are renowed for being short but 1.2mm come on.....
saint_disco123 Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 I dont really care about "plastic fans" tbh if they are willing to pump money into the club and support us and sing our chants then let them some people cant afford to go to every game some can it doesnt matter, what matters is we all support the best team in the world that is southampton! so calm down you wet fannys and just enojoy the football!
Tokyo-Saint Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 Just checking none have slipped through the net whilst I was at the EURO's. I'm doing a roaring trade.

I hate to break this to you, but we're not the best team in the world.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 The bigger we get, the more plastics and tourists we will get. You don't think Man Utd sell out to 70k+ of hardcore fans from the Manchester area do you? I know I have been to a couple of grounds of teams I don't support as there was a decent match on and the ticket was free (corporate usually). We have about 16k-24k hard core fans. This has been proven as it is how many turned up for nothing games in league 1. If we start getting higher than that, then I will be happy but don't pretend these are new hardcore fans that have just been working away for the last few years.

Crispypie Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 The point is, without them there wouldnt be a premier league match to watch!
trousers Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 That's got to be wrong. Yep. Apologies. I've spent too long on the Pompey Takeover thread. That should of course be 2% of 20% of 18.5%.... ;-)
alpine_saint Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 (edited) Pathetic thread. I am confident it is 0%. Yes, there may be some Saints fans that are not regulars who have decided to take the plunge for an ST now we are back in the limelight and glamour of the PL, but I am sure that they are not starting from the base of never going to see Saints. An ST is a serious investment, FFS. Edited 2 July, 2012 by alpine_saint
Jack Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 So if 100 non Saints fans turn up each game, thats a third of 1%. It would be like pi**ing in a swimming pool. Would you want to get into a swimming pool that you know someone's just p*ssed in? Same applies here IMO.

An ST is a serious investment, FFS. I am agreeing with Alpine on this. If they never watched Saints last year they are obviously not interested in football so why would they buy a season ticket which ties them down to at least 19 dates where they will go to St Mary's but last year were doing something different even if it was watching another premier league team why would they not go back their? We will get new season ticket holders who watched last year, and have just started working living at home with mum and/or dad, so can now afford it and some come back who were ST holders before. But fresh eyes never sat on a seat last year not a hope in hell.
redsaints106 Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 Here's 1 I reckon and I'm not even joking! I'd love to have a season ticket but I work every weekend so I can't, however I still managed 7 home games last season and I live in Wales! I don't know why people are so precious about this subject! corsacar saint Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 The more season ticket holders the better,so what is the problem?
buctootim Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 Why would we want a stadium with half arsed Saints fans in? I don't understand the mentality of going to watch another team you don't support regularly. Guess you don't really like football then. People who like football often go to see other teams matches when their club arent playing / they are on holiday abroad / their friend/relation is playing somewhere.
Fan The Flames Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 (edited) Would you want to get into a swimming pool that you know someone's just p*ssed in? Same applies here IMO. I guess you would if you knew that the p*ss would be neutralised and would not effect your enjoyment. However if there was so much p*ss that the pool was a hint of yellow then you might choose to go into the baby pool instead. Edited 2 July, 2012 by Fan The Flames

Can't say fairer than that. OK, the quiz topic is on the Saints team from the last non-Premier League top-flight season. You are hereby denied your season ticket
The Kraken Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 I am agreeing with Alpine on this. But fresh eyes never sat on a seat last year not a hope in hell. There will be some. But as I original guessed, I reckon less than 2%. I used to work on the business enterprise centre near the stadium, lots of small offices for small businesses on one managed site. There was a draw for every Saints home game to use the centre's 2 season tickets which my office won a couple of times, and they went to people who'd never been to St. Mary's before. The draw stopped after relegation as it wasn't considered worthwhile to continue. I imagine there will be a decent increase in corporate tickets, in the boxes, suites, and just normal STs whereby non-Saints fans will have access to tickets and will come along for the Premier League experience. But I don't think it'll be many; anyone willing to lash out up to £780 in fees for an ST will have been to games last season.
StVince1966 Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 if the whole ground was full of season ticket holders where would the genuine fan or beginner sit?
jjsaint Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 Tell the new fans that they can have a £100 discount on their season ticket if they agree to be photographed in a Pompey shirt. If they agree to this, deny them a ticket and ban them for life.
Gingeletiss Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 Quite a few it seems, are handing their Season tickets back in protest at the new and very popular, 'best selling' shirt!
Ziggy Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 I am going to put my new season ticket in the plastic holder from the 09/10 season so that all the plastics at the game can see what an uber fan I am.
the colonel Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 well i'm an old season ticket holder and I missed it.....but I did have an accident the day before with broken bones, stitches, cut and bruises....gutted I missed it.
The9 Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 Why would we want a stadium with half arsed Saints fans in? I don't understand the mentality of going to watch another team you don't support regularly. Some people like football.

An ST is a serious investment, FFS. This. Well, I guess it's a tiny tad over 0% (presumably some youngsters etc buying their first ever season ticket? one or two people who were out of the country last year and now back in Southampton?). But as close to 0% as makes no difference.
sammysaint Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 I got myne and i went to 9 league home games last season and 12 the season before so infact i have been to 21 games in 2 seasons i am such a plastic fan, but hey i reckon i played about 50-55 hampshire premier league games in the last 2 seasons, rather play then watch but with petrol and subs next season it works out too much so CHEAPER to get a ST, i have paid 575 as well good old online system. AS LONG AS EVERY SAINTS FAN WHO WANTS ONE GETS 1 WHO CARES ? i very much doubt a non saints fan will shed out 500 plus on a ST, non saints fans who want to watch UTD CITY etc will buy memberships, as and when there released.
BlakeySFC Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 I don't mind plastics buying season tickets as it's putting more money in the clubs' coffers which is always good. But I will get extremely annoyed if any of them are sitting around me not knowing the team atall, not caring about the match, on their phones the whole match etc.
