Gemmel Posted 1 July, 2012 Posted 1 July, 2012 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/disability-sport/18663231 World record 10.85 secs for a bloke with one leg!!! Incredible
Baj Posted 1 July, 2012 Posted 1 July, 2012 Surely it's cheating to use an artificial leg. Yup, that's why all the "cheats" have their own separate games.
Bearsy Posted 1 July, 2012 Posted 1 July, 2012 I quite like the special olympics, it's nice to give people who aren't quite good enough for regular olympics the chance to win a gold medal. They should open it up a bit more though, like have a special 100m for people who are obesely fat or swimming races for people who don't know how to swim. They should have weight lifting competitions for people with puny upper body strength and high jump for short people. I guess what I'm really saying is dat I'm not very fast at running but I would still like to have an Olympic gold medal for running. They should have a special olympics just for people who can't run any faster than me. I feel left out!
Bearsy Posted 1 July, 2012 Posted 1 July, 2012 Just to expand a little on these situations while I'm thinking about it, there was this girl at our school who had like a glandular issue and probable eating disorder so she was massively fat, and I used to look at her and feel bad - because of them unfortunate disabilities she was never going to have the chance to win an Olympic gold medal for 110m hurdles. She could train for years and there was no way she was getting them fat thighs up and over at an Olympic qualifying pace. It seems callous of the special olympic people not to make allowances for poor fat Faye. They is almost playing favourites, like there is good disabilities and bad disabilities. The injustices of it really makes my blood boil!
